❗️❗️**XL Bully Breeds**❗️❗️

Due to the imminent ban, we have compiled some useful information to help current owners adapt to the new laws.

⏰From the 31st December 2023 it is illegal to:
▪️Sell, abandon, give away or breed an XL bully dog
▪️Have an XL Bully in public without a lead and muzzle

⏰From the 1st of February 2024 you will also need a Certificate of Exemption (available from DEFRA), which requires third party liability insurance (available from Dogs Trust), your dog to be neutered (both males and females, depending on age) and microchipped.

If your dog is less than one year old on 31 January 2024, they must be neutered by 31 December 2024. If your dog is older than one year old on 31 January 2024, they must be neutered by 30 June 2024. You will also need a veterinary confirmation of neutering form in order to apply for the Certificate of Exemption (also required if your dog has already been neutered).

🐾Due to the deadline we recommend beginning muzzle training as soon as possible. Dogs Trust have provided useful free webinars to assist with this (see comments for link).

This is Rosie who had a laparoscopic (key hole) spay surgery completed at The Grange Veterinary Hospital.
Her owner was really pleased with the results as she was back to her normal self just two days after surgery, as you can see in this picture 😊🐻

Keyhole surgery offers many benefits including:
⭐Less pain post operatively

⭐ Rest required for only 2-3 days instead of 10-14 days with traditional spay

⭐No stitches in the skin therefore usually no need for buster collar or pet shirt

⭐ Smaller incisions

⭐ A clearer and safer view for the surgeons

Keyhole spays are available for female dogs between 7kg to 55kg and cost £650, or £585 if you're a member of our pet health plan!

Call 01352 700087 if you'd like to discuss the benefits further, or book in! ☺️
