Joy amongst struggles- the recovery of Smog the dog!
Smog and his owner hit a difficult time in 2023.
None of us know what others go through when struggling with mental health. Smog was much loved, but his owner couldn't cope and he just tried to return smog’s love by feeding him.
At the start of 2024, the owner hit a serious crisis and was admitted to hospital from where he has progressed through his own recovery.
Smog was left in the flat.
Council representatives stepped in to feed and walk Smog for a few days. The roads flooded so Ddole Road Vets then had him until Annette Hosking (True Animal Rescue) was able to rescue him. The owner’s family have been very supportive.
Smog was suffering from obesity, spinal arthritis and his cruciate ligaments gave way when he started to mobilise.
Trefaldwyn Vets met him in the middle of January 2024, he was unable to stand up at all.
He started a conservative rehabilitation to rest, manage pain and lose weight. He weighed 33kg.
In April, Smog had a 2kg fatty growth removed from his side and was then fostered by one of our vets.
His mobility improved as his weight dropped to 19 kg from 33kg.
He came off all medication and is now fit, happy and very active.
It's CHRISTMAS!!! 🎄☃️🎅🏻🌟
Christmas is just around the corner, and whilst we all look forward to the festivities, it's worthwhile to bear in mind all of the things that can pose a danger to our inquisitive pets over the Christmas period!
1️⃣. Whilst we all enjoy indulging over the Christmas period, it's best to keep our yummy treats out of paws reach!
Freddie and Teddy would like to remind everyone about the dangers of raisins in mince pies and also chocolate 🍇🍫This weekend they had to be made to return the stolen food which included all the chocolates and doors of the advent calendar left on a kitchen table, and a large mincemeat tart stolen from a worktop!!
Other foods that can pose a risk to our pets are blue cheese, fruit cakes and onions. Keep these foods out of reach and resist the temptation to give table scraps which can cause an upset stomach 🍫🧅🍇🍾
2️⃣. Do not feed pets cooked bones, cooked bones can easily splinter and pose a risk of damaging your pets throat, stomach and/or causing blockages 🦴
3️⃣. Be mindful of festive plants, Plants such as Holly, Mistletoe, Lily's and poinsettias are toxic to both cats and dogs, so keep these well out of reach!!!! ☣️
4️⃣. Supervise pets around Christmas tree's and gifts, as both of these things can be tempting to our four-legged friends but can also pose a danger to mischievous pets🎄🎁
5️⃣. Lastly, We would like to wish all of our wonderful clients a very merry Christmas and thank you all for your support over the last year! We hope you have a fantastically festive break 🎄🌟🤶🏻🎁🍾
Love from the TVC team 💚

CHRISTMAS DRAWING COMPETITION ☃️🎄🐄🐷🐔🐑
Last year we ran a drawing competition for all the TVC children, the aim was to draw a Christmas themed picture of their favourite furry friend. We had lots of fantastic entries which were put on display for all of our clients to admire!

We will have three classes ⬇️
⭐Ages 6 and under
⭐Ages 7-10
⭐Ages 10 and over
Like last year we request that all entries are dropped off at either our Montgomery or Llanfair surgery for us to display to get everyone into the Christmas spirit! ☃️🎄
Entries need to be in by Monday 16th December and winners will be announced on Wednesday the 18th December so prizes can be collected before Father Christmas comes!
Ready, steady, DRAW ‼️‼️

Who else's pets have weird and wonderful habits? 🐶🐱
Today we met the beautiful Drizzle, who came into the Montgomery surgery for her first vaccination 💉
Needless to say that she was not phased in the slightest by her visit to the vets and enjoyed coming to greet us all at reception with the waggiest of tails and her toy!!
We all look forward to seeing her in a few weeks time for her second vaccination 🐶 🐾
Drizzle was much too busy to stand still for a photo so here is a video of her bounciness!! ⬇️
🥰Cuteness Overload🥰 Margo is looking very relaxed for her visit to the vets today 💜 Such an adventurous character and so pretty 😍
😆
🎅🌲Today our nurses have been very busy setting up a new display in our waiting room window for all you lovely people to look at while waiting for your beloved pet to finish up with their vet inside. Make sure to check it out on your next visit to see us to see some Do's and Don'ts in the run up to christmas! Here you can see our head nurse Charlie making sure the windows are sparkly clean!🌲🎅
Thanks to Tom and Dee for their kind words -What a wonderful surprise to hear our team mentioned on Paul O’grady’s show yesterday ! It means the world to us to hear that our effort is appreciated . We saw their lovely dog Darcy many times and he was always a pleasure to treat, he is missed amongst the practice .
Our Practice Manager captured her young collie Gnat having a scratch we think it looks quite comical. Do any of your pets have some guerky habits😁
**Update** We have a fabulous new family and home, thank you everyone for your shares, tags and enquiries 😃
These adorable brothers (currently named Chris & Kem) are looking for their forever 5☆ home - could you help?
They were brought in to us by a member of the public after being found under a hedge in poor condition but after some TLC they are now thriving.
Much as they are enjoying lots of cuddles in the practice, they will be ready to join a new family soon.
If you are interested in providing a home for these little bundles of fun please phone the surgery on 01686 668234, Mon-Fri 8.30am-6pm.
Photos will be posted below.
