FTCh Brocklinton Bertie – Proven Open Stake Winner & Exceptional Stud

FTCh Brocklinton Bertie is a four-time Open Stake winner and one of the last remaining FTCh Buccleuch Pepper sons at stud. He carries the bloodlines of one of the most successful producing bitch lines of the last decade, making him a valuable asset to any serious breeding program.

Bertie is one of five pups retained from the pairing of Wild Poppet of Brocklinton x FTCh Buccleuch Pepper, alongside:
• FTAW Brocklinton Brock
• FTAW Brocklinton Belle
• FTW Brocklinton Berry
• FTCh Brocklinton Betty (Betty a champion in only 4 trails)

Trial Highlights:
• Novice win (2018) – Woodland at Errol Park
• First Open win (2019) – Mixed cover at Nethertilly
• Made up to FTCh (2020) – Woodland at Balbirnie Estate
• Qualified for the 2022 Championships – Glenogle Estate, running in rashes on rabbits
• Two strong runs, including three off-the-nose finds and a cast retrieve, earning a Diploma of Merit
• Oldest male dog in the 2022 Championship at just over 6½ years old
• Qualified for the 2023 Championships – Again demonstrating his consistency and ability
• Oldest dog in the 2023 Championship at just over 7½ years old

Billy got the win with his home bred bitch Brockrise Lexie today at the kennel club novice trial held at Wentworth estate.
Lexie still just a youngster at 19 month old but has been consistent all season with a 3rd two 2nds and now a win 🥇
Looking forward to next season in the opens🐕

Very pleasing end to our novice season with Brocklinton Mick winning the novice trial held at Manton Lincolnshire held in very heavy woodland bramble at only 15 months old 🏆

Billy also having a good season with another young bitch at 18 months Brocklinton lexi gaining a third and then two seconds in the last two month 🐕

Both youngsters are home bred and looking very promising for next season,both have great engines , are prepared to roll there sleeves up and work any cover 🐕

Both PEPPER AND ALBAMACH were sired by HATTONS WOOD BROCK Fortunately before we lost LENNY he was bred to BETTY and produced BROCKLINTON KIA
Who was awarded 3rd place in the British Championship 2022 season
FTCH BROCKLINTON BETTY has also produced FTW BROCKLINTON FLOSS and FTW BROCKLINTON FRED
when she was bred to FTCH SAXONVALE AXIS
We are also running this season another son of BETTY .BROCKLINTON MICK he is by HETTON HALL TWEED who was also Sired by OFTW BROCKLINTON LENNY
We are also running BROCKRISE LEXIE who is out or FTW BROCKLINTON BERRY by BELVEDENE JUST IN TIME

I consider our selves to of been very fortunate to of owned such a prolific producing Bitch as POPPY the pairing with PEPPER who himself is one of the top producing stud dogs ever was as good as you could get

Our latest news last Thursday BROCKLINTON KIA won the Lancashire and Merseyside Open Stake at Heigh Fly qualifying her for the Championships and that win made her up to FTCH BROCKLINTON KIA
So that’s KIA (HEATHER ) our 1st FTCH To be produced by our 1st ever FTCH BROCKLINTON BETTY
As you can see POPPY has provided a solid foundation to our dogs with her qualities or VERY GAME HEART AND ENGINE which we strive to maintain
With over 50 years of competing with dogs and horses my theory is
HARD WORK BEATS TALENT WHEN TALENT DOESN’T WANT TO WORK
and that’s what POPPY has put into our dogs along with the studs we paired her to

Here’s a short tribute to our foundation Bitch
WILD POPPET OF BROCKLINTON (POPPY)who sadly left us at 14 years old on the 23-7-24
POPPY-was not just a great working Bitch ,prolific producer of trial winners she was our family pet .She was our first Spaniel and she only came about after the hunting with dogs ban came in force and competition Hare Coursing was no more .We sat about in limbo for a few year and kept our own strain of Saluki Lurchers (and still have them today ) as the Conservatives promised to reverse the ban which they never did
POPPY was introduced solely to flush legal quarry for our Lurches and things just snowballed from there .My friend Rolly recommend I get the box set DVD by Davie Lisset to try and train her to a exeptable standard which I did ( and if anyone wants to train a dog those DVD defo work ).I started beating for the local shoots . Poppy was recognised straight away as a very hard hunting bramble basher and would hunt any cover . The fever was now in and I had to go further and I wanted try and compete . Luckily I was put in contact and vouched for with Davie by Blackie and Gary
From there the pairing of POPPY and BUCCLUECH PEPPER took place and from that pairing we trialed 5 dogs 2 male and 3 female

Very pleasing day yesterday here at Brocklinton Kennels with

Heather gained a 3rd in the Championships in 2023 and after winning the Lancashire and Merseyside Open Stake yesterday Heather is now officially
FTCH BROCKLINTON KIA .
Most pleasingly Heather comes from our homebred Bitch

OFTW BROCKLINTON LENNY who was also homebred
BETTY (Minnie ) was our 1st ever FTCH
unfortunately we lost LENNY dew to a grass seed before he could be made up
So ( kia ) Heather is our 1st FTCH

All my dogs have been born and raised on Chapel Farm Dog Food.
My opinion on this food is now based on hard facts of feeding this quality food for 10 years. I have 50+ years competing with working dogs and I can truly say I am getting the best and most consistent results with Chapel Farm. All our dogs, the young the trialling and the old have a job to do so, they must able to take the work we give them. These include FTCh Brocklinton Bertie, FTCh Brocklinton Betty, & FTW Brocklinton Berry. Bertie, the oldest dog to compete in the Championships for the last 2 years, is still going strong, only ever fuelled on Chapel Farm. The other part of our team, Cameron and Lorna, have also been feeding Chapel Farm for a couple of seasons and Lorna is now a stockist. They are having fantastic results with a hectic picking up season and have just had a very successful test season. It is very satisfying to myself that every spaniel between us is the result of the pairing of Buccluech Pepper by Wild Poppet of Brocklinton.
As you can see Dave Lisett and Buccluech Gundogs have had a massive input in my dogs.
With Davie developing Chapel Farm Dog Food, that adds just that bit more to the quality for the dogs. The one thing myself and Billy need now is some of that Buccluech Championship Labrador blood in our Labs Davie 👍😂 Thank you for your continued support.

Fantastic day on the grouse on Tuesday over at the son in laws beat , where the estate record was broken
Was also the youngest grandsons first shoot day so he’ll be getting kept around as a lucky charm
Very pleased with the performance of the dogs for the first day of the season and for many of our dogs there first day out ever with 5 of the 9 dogs we had out only being between 9 to 14 months old
The older one being ftch Brocklinton Bertie ftch Brocklinton Betty , ftw Brocklinton Berry all at 8 years old and Oftw Brocklinton Kia at 4

All in all a great day

It was a honour and a privilege to be asked to judge one of the Spaniel Tests with my good friend Janice Cunningham at Scone Palace Game fair a couple Fridays ago.

Very pleased with brocklinton ace the other day his first time out with the big dogs at just 8months old hunted very well (better than I was expecting)
first ever bit of game shot for him was a noisy rabbit out and In not a bother he has risen to the occasion and will be one to watch in the coming seasons
