Need a pet microchipping?

Do you have a cat or dog over the age of eight weeks that needs microchipping? If so, we may be able to help.

At L.A.A. we offer microchipping for cats and dogs and, on Monday 19th August, we are running a microchipping refresher course for L.A.A. staff and we need some animal volunteers! The dog or cat would need to be friendly, sociable and not already microchipped, so puppies and kittens would be ideal. 🐶🐱

The microchipping would take place at the Centre between 10.30am and 1.30pm and we’d give you a 15 minute appointment during those times. The staff member that will be implanting the chip has been trained before, this is a refresher course. The microchipping and registration of the chip will be free of charge.

During my outdoor yoga class today, a special guest decided to join me! 🧘‍♀️ A young black cat wandered over and stayed by my side for part of the session. Looks like I’ve found the purrfect yoga partner! 🐱✨

MY WHY 🌸

I just wanted to say a big big thank you 🙏 to everyone who has supported my little business over the last year and a bit.

A few of you know my reasons for setting up Moos, named after a very special cat, affectionately known as Marley Moo, but sadly no longer with us. I've always been a big animal lover & had cats all my life but my other love is interiors. Up until recently I ran an interior design business but with family life becoming more fraught I was finding it harder to be fully engaged and unable to be away from home for long periods made it challenging. I still do some interior work but just for a select handful of clients who are understanding of my situation.

My eldest is Autistic and had struggled massively with schooling & life. After a long fight navigating the system I was in a position where I'd finally secured him the support and education he needed and was hoping for a slightly calmer life. However, it became obvious that I needed to do it all again for my youngest.

If any of you have been down this road, full of acronyms and push backs, you know how difficult it is and being away from home, sometimes for whole days, was no longer working nore was the pressure and intensity of the work, made doubly hard by being a single parent. My youngest was struggling with his mental health to the point he no longer could attend school or even leave the house. So one night I was sat on the sofa and thought "What can I do?". What would allow me to have flexibility around him, but also doing something I love and bringing in enough to pay some of the bills? That night Moos was born.

So I am eternally grateful for everyone who has supported me in anyway be it making a booking, liking my posts or there to hold my hand. It has enabled me to have the flexibility to be a carer for my 2 boys as well as giving me immense joy, caring for your precious fur babies, and having something to remember a very special cat by 😻. Seeing happy pets & receiving your reviews make this all the more worthwhile 🥰.

Arthur, who is mainly an outdoor cat, would greet me through the garage cat flap each morning. A loving boy but is able to tell you when he's had enough😻

Amazingly by the end of our time together he was allowing me to groom him, even the back of his legs.

I've been removing plenty of these, along with sticky buds, from your furry friends the last few weeks.

Regular grooming will help keep these at bay and prevent any unwanted complications 😸😉

Unfortunately it's foxtail season again 😞 Foxtail plants are a weed-type grass that can cause serious problems for animals!
Ear infections, nosebleeds/rhinitis, pyothorax, abscesses and tetanus are just SOME of the serious issues that can come from these little guys! If you notice your pet repeatedly sneezing, pawing at their ears, coughing or acting uncomfortable, these could be signs of a possible foxtail and should seek medical attention as soon as possible.

Very happy to be back looking after these two big floofy floofs. 😸. Milo & Flo are a fabulous brother and sister duo, difficult to tell apart on photos but Milo is definitely the alpha cat. Both as micheavous as each other 😹.

It's here. The first week of the summer holidays for Leicestershire schools so for the next couple of weeks I'll be crazily busy caring for your furry family, while you're off on your holidays. 🏖️
