Well that’s it, Summer 2024 is officially over. 😢
I’ve been kept pretty busy with some extra holiday pets whilst my teachery customers enjoy a break from teaching.
I was very lucky to enjoy a special trip to Paris to watch the Xc day of the Eventing at the Olympics.

Thank you for all of the birthday wishes. I’m out on the other side & it’s ok !! 😥 I’m back from my birthday trip riding lusitano horses in Portugal with my fab friend Carol, secretly organised by the wonderful, amazing, handsome, long-suffering Alan ( his words !)
Ready to get back to walking my doglets & working the extra calories off. Looks like summer is slow to arrive this year but here’s some lovely photos of my Spring customers.

She was the kindest, sweetest dog, she was so good with other dogs & loved everyone she met. I don’t think she ever growled once & she had a fab life.

I have really sad news about my gorgeous Wylie. Sadly she had a stroke on her walk yesterday & couldn’t walk afterwards . Alan took her to the vets & they agreed she was at that turning point. She lived two years more than we expected - after her cancer diagnosis & losing the sight in one eye.
It’s a big privilege to own pets and our responsibility to know when it is time to say goodbye. I’m Missing her already but I know it was the right time. Xx

Bella - the other four legged creature that I love & spend most of my spare time with after doglets. If anyone is looking for a fab photographer- Fiona is amazing.

- BELLA -

I absolutely love a dark coloured horse on a Black Background, I think they look so beautiful & Bella is certainly a stunning model to showcase this!

The double bridle and plaits - just so, so, smart 🖤

She wasn’t super keen on putting her ears forwards for her session, but we preserved to create some gorgeous portraits of her….and to quote her owner ‘you must have the patience of a saint’ 🙈😆

*** MANAGING DOGS WITH HEATSTROKE - SOME FAKE NEWS AND SOME REAL NEWS ***

Posts like the one below with this image are being widely shared! This is very poor information. Heatstroke in ANY species is a MEDICAL EMERGENCY and requires URGENT action to reduce body temperature!

THE APPROPRIATE TREATMENT FOR HEATSTROKE IN DOGS IS IMMERSION IN WATER at 10-16°C (50-61°F) OR CONTINOUS APPLICATION OF WATER ALL OVER FROM A HOSE OR BUCKETS OR BOTTLES! Dogs will tolerate cooler water if not being immersed in it (eg cold drinks or water from a fridge at 5°C.

A dog that has HEATSTROKE and which is UNRESPONSIVE is 37x more likely to DIE! YOU NEED TO COOL THEM TO GIVE THEM A CHANCE OF SURVIVING!

Postscript…

Cooling methods used in dogs with heat-related illness under UK primary veterinary care 2016-2018.

"Lots of myths get shared about cooling hot dogs"

The following information is from Emily Hall's clinical abstract presentation for the British Small Animal Veterinary Association’s annual Congress 2021, link below.

• Rapid Cooling Saves Lives!
• Don't be afraid to use Cold/Ice Water..... it is effective!
• The sooner we can cool these patients, get their temperature below that critical threshold, the less damage is being done and the better the outcome is likely to be
• Use Water, Air, Immersive Cooling, Evaporative Cooling..... use whatever you have available
• Dogs are waiting to be cooled because people are worried about the temperature of the water
• We need to dispel cooling myths that are harming patients
• Empower Owners so they know how to cool their dogs

Just a reminder now hot weather seems to have arrived - that walks will be appropriate to the heat - slightly shorter - in shade or woodland where possible - or garden visits. dog welfare comes first. I saw a dog collapse in the heat in Dale End park last week & realised how awful heat stroke can be.

Hi everyone. If you know anyone looking for a dog companion - I know of a gorgeous Boxer dog looking for a longish foster home.
He is called Ralph, three years old, neutered, very friendly & loving, great off lead, good with other dogs, brought up with three small children, crate trained, raw fed. Reason is a 2yr Army posting abroad & Ralph can’t go. Please get in touch if you can help.

Just returning from a fab week in Scotland, scenery is stunning, weather was great - lovely to spend time with my girls & Alan. Sadly no dogs allowed but we walked up Ben Nevis, I rode a Highland pony on the beautiful Silver Sands at Morar Beach and got to visit ancient forests & castles and cruise lochs whilst the others cycled the Great Glen way. Back to doglet walking tomorrow morning.

Having a day off today - Time to choose some winter & spring photos for fb. So many lovely pets !
