There are signs just gone up saying there will be roadworks from the 27th for 1 week outside the house. I will keep anyone over this time updated if there is any issue with access but please be patient as may be short notice.

Had a few chats, as always, recently on neutering mainly for the boys but also the girls. I have recommended this lady as she does amazing easy to understand online webinars on the subjects. She is a working vet but has also been a groomer and is so passionate about asking why and doing her own research with the most up to date facts available that are bot biased then drawing her own qualified opinion..... Some of which may come as a surprise as goes against what we have "always just thought/done"

If you are considering getting your dog snipped then please consider watching "keep your eyes the balls" for the boys.

I always recommmend the chemical castration before doing anything to give you an idea on whats likely to be affected and she goes into this on there.

It is also a fountain of amazing knowledge in general from coat/skin care to first aid and cpr for your dogs and other animals too!!!!

Afternoon all!
Just a few bits to keep you updated with.

Appointments: Fully booked until April and even April is becoming limited. I have a week off at the beginning of June and another in July so if you are likely to need an appointment then please book that asap as almost full. Also, seems super early I know sorry! December is also filling up fast so book well in advance to avoid missing the slots!

I am having some issues with some emails I have recieved. I reply but they bounce, not all emails just some. If you email and don't have a reply please either message on here or text/whatsapp my mobile. Or include a contact number on the email.

The Agility season will soon be uppon us! This means that if I am at a show I will not have my work phone with me so will reply when I get back. If you message mostly a friday/ saturday or sunday (sundays are my only always full day off regardless anyway) I will not reply until the monday so please be patient for a reply. There are some shows or training camps that are week days not just weekends.

Hopefully not much longer left of winter! (If I say it often enough it may be true! haha)

Thanks for all your on going support I really do still get blown away with it all!

Take Care

Beki

08/09/2023

So it appears that the Royal Veterinary College (they are the body that controls all vets) have changed their guidelines since the 1st of September on medications, including flea and worming:

Cheryl Nicholson From 1st September the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS, regulatory body for the veterinary profession in the UK) is introducing new guidance on prescribing prescription-only medicines. The full guidance can be found on: https://www.rcvs.org.uk/setting-standards/advice-and-guidance/under-care-new-guidance/

The new guidance requires that a physical examination of the pet has to be performed every time any antibiotics, antifungals, antivirals and antiparasiticides are prescribed. This includes topical preparations such as ear and eye drops, and all prescription flea/worm/tick products.

The guidance is an important step towards ensuring responsible antimicrobial use and reducing the veterinary impact on the wider issues of global antibiotic resistance and decline of insect populations.

What this means in practice is that your pet will need to come in for an in-person consultation every time
- we need to prescribe medication for an ear infection (as most contain antibiotics)
- we need to prescribe antibiotics for any skin problem, even if it’s a chronic problem
- we/you decide to change from one flea/worm/tick product to another
- we suspect a urinary tract infection (remote/online consultation and urine analysis/culture are no longer sufficient)
- we suspect a gastrointestinal infection (remote/online consultation and faecal analysis/culture are no longer sufficient)

We also can no longer prescribe prescription deworming products on the basis of a laboratory report alone, we will need to see the pet for a consultation and physical examination first.

For long term prescription medication that is not an antimicrobial/antiparasitic, our usual policy of requiring an examination every 6 months (or every 3 months in some less stable or more serious cases) continues to apply.

The consultations are charged at our usual fee of £49 depending on whether it’s an initial consultation or one for a recurring problem.

If you have any questions or concerns about the new guidance, RCVS can be contacted on:
020 7202 0789 or [email protected].

This weekend Sev had a very good fun show up in Tain managing a 2nd, 3rd and a 5th and managing to not pick any faults up in all 3 of his runs! Hes getting quite the collection now! Ghost came along to cheerlead us! And as you can see took it all in his stride for his first show!

Hope you all have a fab week!

Hello All!

Just a quick diary update!

I have only very few slots left for October and November then the year is full.
EXISTING CLIENTS: If you are wanting a slot then please message asap to get booked in.
NEW CLIENTS: Once I am sure there is no one needing to book in I will release what slots are free. I can not promise what may or may not be available going forward from these as they are just the ransom free slots so please keep this in mind.

Next year!
The diary for next year is already taking bookings for Existing clients, so please feel free to message me with what you are wanting and I can work through and get them booked in.

Saturdays next year will be more limited as will not be working every saturday due to Agility comitments. And saturday slots may need swapping a bit as the year goes on to fit around competitions. If you are able to make a week day then please do so to keep slots free for those who really cant. I will offer some later week day slots now and then as work arounds for saturdays too.

As always thank you so much for all your support! I never take it for granted!

Morning everyone!

Am slowly catching up after a crazy busy few days!

Thought I would share with you all what has made me extra busy (as if I wasn't before!🤣🤦‍♀️)

We have another Puppy!

Please meet Ghost, he is a miniature poodle (what else hey! ) and will eventually turn silver in colour.

He's keeping his 2 big brothers on their toes already and will in no time be ruling the roost I'm sure!

Well some how the stroppy teenage Poodle managed to actually look like we have done some training! 🤣 his first big show (there where 5 rings all on the go at once with nothing but a piece of rope around each one to keep him in the right one! He's only ever had 2 rings that have had full plastic fencing round them up to now!) And we managed a 1st and a 2nd!

I have however come down with a horrible cold/flu type lurgy! So message replies and just me in general may be a bit slow this week so please bare with me!

Any sightings feel free to contact me as i have direct contact with family

Just wanted to do a quick post to say thank you to everyone who's moved appointments about last week whilst my Old boy Jack was not well and needed surgery. It's always a big worry when they need an op but at 13years old this year and then finding out he has potential liver issues and the fact that surgery was a one only try it's been a bit of a roller coaster! But we are 6 days post surgery and 2nd type of antibiotics but looks like we may have just made it through 🤞🙏🤞

Also my baby boy managed to get a 3rd on Sunday at the agility show! Wasn't the cleanest run, he took himself for a good sniff halfway round 🤣🤦‍♀️, but we pulled it back together and managed to do every jump in somewhat challenging weather conditions! 🥵🥵🥵

Dog Training Unsprung thanks for all the support and training! 💚💚

Morning everyone!

Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine!!!!

Just a quick message to say I currently only have 3 slots left available in December! If you are not yet booked in but will want to please get in touch ASAP before they are all filled.

Thanks

Beki

Anyone thinking of ant neutering please please watch them

Those that know me realise that I’m not a one size fits all vet. Neutering is a secret passion of mine. Ok that sounds a bit sadistic 🤣. I mean I love to research the topic as much as possible and help owners to make an informative decision.

So I designed 2 webinars. Understanding the unneutered female and keep your eye on the balls. To watch them click here
https://www.animalloveonline.co.uk/pages/pre-recorded-webinars
you can print your certificate of completion once finished.

The diagram below has red writing because I felt I needed to be clearer. This is for the entire bi***es. I have met a couple of entire females recently on the lead. Reason - she’s in heat. is she? (Says me) Yes today I think will be her last day of bleeding then she can go off lead…(says them) my face…😬 oh my that’s when she can get pregnant!!!! I reply.

So many people do not understand a bi***es cycle and when the bad stuff can happen. Oh and bad stuff also may happen if you spay a bitch when she’s suffering a phantom pregnancy!

Come and learn with the neutering obsessed vet 🤦‍♀️ https://www.animalloveonline.co.uk/pages/pre-recorded-webinars

Preparing Pets for the allergy season.

The skin is the largest organ of the body and for some pets comes with its challenges.

Allergies are the most common concern for many pet owners.

Join us for a talk with Dominique Baranska , one of the Vets at Scottish Vet Referrals discussing pet allergies. How to identify allergies in your pets as well as the steps for a diagnosis, treatment options and management.
