Our Story
It was inevitable that hens would have a big part to play in our lives as we met on a poultry farm in 2015, we know what you’re thinking, so romantic! Gordon must have done something right as we got married and started our wee business venture based in Ochiltree, Ayrshire in 2018, but how did we get here?
As 1st generation farmers our journey was never going to be easy, but we had a vision. True free range hens that produce a quality product. We believe that having smaller flocks and ensuring all hens range outside means a natural and less stressful environment.
Both Gordon and Maria have a passion for agriculture but neither is from farming backgrounds. Gordon has over 10 year’s practical experience within poultry from working in hatcheries, managing a poultry farm and completing his HNC in Poultry production. Gordon was also selected to attend a poultry conference for one week in Germany in 2016.
Maria is very passionate about animal welfare. She has recently completed her HNC/HND in Agriculture while also working as an Animal Rescue Officer for the Scottish SPCA. She also has practical experience working in the equine, poultry and dairy industry.
