Thank you to everyone who helped raise money for Guide Dogs for the Blind last week.
The wonderful baking stall took just over £400 (including some donations).
I am delighted to be able to send them £185 raised on the agility practise ring.
Special thanks to those who gave up time to run the ring.

Thank you everyone.
What a fabulous weekend that was - despite the weather fighting against us most of the tine!
A show is nothing without our judges who work so hard to give you good courses to run and then mark you fairly - thank you to Hannah Wade, Angela Kelly, Peter Dall, Doc Docherty, Heather McLean, Irene Anderson, Faye Nemeth, Eleanor Laing-Kay, Dane Redford, Allyson Ross, Shaun Potter, Kate Davidson, Edita Uherkovichova and Vycki Brock.
There are too many people who made this show possible to mention them all by name - I tried to count everyone and got to 140 people!! So many jobs to be done - many behind the scenes including scribes, ring managers, ring parties, car parkers, prize giving team, camping check in team, set up crew, break down crew, litter pickers, first aiders van packers etc. The people who arrive early and stay after the competition finishes are some of most important people in making agility happen.
Huge thanks to our partners who make a busy show managers life so much easier.
Showtime provide an amazing service to me as a show organiser - both in planning the show and on the day, they go way above the call of duty. First Contact (the Dalls) are brilliant in meeting all our equipment needs and always being on hand throughout the show.
Norton Rosettes do an amazing job of producing hundreds of high quality rosettes in a short timescale.
Border Union Events Center are very accommodating, trying to fit our ever growing show onto the venue at one of their busiest times of the year.
Last but not least thanks to the SKC Agility Fairies - Anne Moynagh, Hannah Wade, Jo Fowler, Yvonne Lough, Sinclair Mackay, Irene Anderson & Dane Redford - they keep me sane and tackle any job I throw at them. You are amazing.

Time to start planning our May 2025 show - see you there 🙂

Scottish Agility Dog of the Year 2024
Judge Hannah Wade

On a sunny but breezy Saturday afternoon the Border Union Showground in Kelso was the venue for an incredible final. Thirty-eight of Scotland's top agility dogs and handlers took on a fabulous finals course set by our judge, Hannah Wade. There wasn't room for a dog to put a paw wrong and speed was critical as each combination fought hard to be in the winning lineup.

Hannah's course was perfect for this event - showcasing a magical balance of handling skills and speed. The crowd loved every minute of what turned out to be a nail biting competition, less that two tenths of a second separated the winner and reserve in the medium height dogs.

Congratulations to out winners and well done to all the finalists.

Scottish Kennel Club Agility Show
August 24th & 25th 2024.

Closing Date extended to midnight on 6th August 2024.

We have now released all available camping and camping is now full. We still have a substantial waiting list. On Monday I will be at the showground to see if we can find an additional area for camping. We do not have use of the full showground as the marquees are being erected for the Ram Sales.

The waiting list will be reviewed Monday evening. If you are not on the camping waiting list you will not be offered camping.
The extension to the closing date allows you to review your entries after final information on camping is available.

Only one final heat to go before we know which dogs will be competing for the title of Scottish Agility Dog of the Year this August.
Some dogs have clearly secured their place but for others they still need more points to be sure of qualifying. Remember the top 12 dogs in each height are invited to compete - with additional dogs included in the event of a tie.
Good luck to everyone competing in the last heat at East Lothian.
