Last week, I was out walking one of my client’s dogs. When we first set out on our walk, she seemed a little worried and unsure (her tail was tucked slightly and she was stopping lots).

So we slowed down, I gave her lots of reassurance and we took the walk at her pace. After a few minutes, her tail lifted, the worried look disappeared and she was back to her usual, confident self.

When we returned home, I let her owner know and we came to the conclusion that she's had a busy few weeks and been a bit out of routine, so that was most likely why. On our next few walks, she was very confident and there were no signs that she was worried.

Moments like that, remind me why it’s so important to choose a walker that is going to take the time to get to know your dog. If you’d like someone who does just that, I’d love to meet them.

Maintaining a healthy weight is essential for your pet's health and wellbeing. Obesity can lead to health issues such as joint problems, diabetes and heart disease.

Here are a few different ways to help your pet maintain a heathy weight:

🐕 Frequent exercise is great for your pet's health
🐈‍⬛ Regular vet visits to keep an eye on their weight and body condition
🍪 Limiting treats- They should only take up 10% of your pet's daily food requirement

Make sure to keep a close eye on your pet's weight, it can be easy to not notice them gaining weight, especially when when you see them daily.

Did you know conkers can be dangerous for dogs? Conkers (horse chestnuts) contain a toxin called aesculin, which can cause vomiting, drooling, and stomach pain if eaten. They also pose a choking risk or could cause a blockage if swallowed.

While out on your walks, it’s best to keep an eye out and avoid/distract your dog from conkers where possible. If you think your dog may have eaten one, contact your vet for advice straight away.

Enjoy your autumn walks safely (without the conkers)!

September is Pain Awareness Month, and it’s the perfect time to highlight how important it is to recognise the signs of discomfort in our pets. They are experts at hiding pain, so it’s important to know what to look for.

Swipe to see some common signs of pain in dogs, cats rabbits and horses.

Even small changes in behaviour can mean something isn’t quite right. If you notice any of these signs, seeking veterinary advice early can make a big difference to your dog’s comfort and wellbeing.

This week one of my clients messaged me to ask if I could help out by doing a drop-in visits. Due to some scheduling issues, they wouldn’t be home in time to feed their dog dinner and asked if I could pop in to help.

Of course, I was more than happy to step in. I did a drop-in visit to let her out for the toilet, give her dinner and most importantly, made sure she had lots of cuddles too.

If you ever need a helping hand when life gets busy, I can provide drop-in visits to make sure your dog is cared for while you’re away.

What mix of breeds do you think this lovely boy is? I think it's a difficult one to guess!

I've been walking him while his owners are away on holiday and he's been enjoying himself.
