The unfortunate truth of owning and running a business.

Running a business is really hard.

What they don’t tell you is that it can cause severe stress and anxiety, and drains you mentally to the point of depression in even the most laid-back people.

People will talk about you, compare you to others, use you, they will view you as a service and not a person anymore.

You have to worry about if you forget to email/message someone back, are they going to think it was on purpose? Did you disappoint them? Will they hold that against you? When in reality you just can’t get to everyone’s messages and emails.

Starting up and running a successful business puts incredible strain on personal lives and relationships, many of which fail because there is just often no work-life balance.

You need to be the director, the worker, the admin, the counsellor, the marketing team, the accountant, the cleaner..... All whilst being a parent, a husband or a wife, family support, friend...

There’s a reason you don’t see many people succeed in small businesses after 5-10 years. If they are successful they are overwhelmed.

It takes a toll. It’s freaking exhausting. Especially the past couple of years when so much has been out of our control.

Here’s a small reminder that we are just normal people with hectic lives.

Be kind, be patient, support small businesses…….and hopefully more of us will stick around!

And know that 2022 prices are not 2023 prices.

I copied this from another small business owner.

Please support small business, I know I do!!

And thank you 🐢πŸ₯°

XYLITOL

Xylitol is a sugar substitute/ artificial sweetener which can cause low blood glucose and, in severe cases, liver damage in dogs. It is commonly found in chewing gum, diet foods and some vitamin supplements. The prognosis is often good if treatment is started promptly.
If you suspect xylitol toxicity, we are available 24/7 for advice - vets should call the VPIS line on 0207305505 . Owners please call our Animal Poison Line on 01202 509000.

With storm Eunice whipping through the UK, and expected winds speeds of up to 100mph in some parts, here are some top tips from Petplan’s charity partner, Battersea, on ensuring your furry companions are kept safe during the storm...

πŸ“ Make sure your pet is microchipped and their details are up to date. Pets can flee when they get scared and up to date details are key to get them home.
πŸŒͺ Avoid letting your pet outdoors when the storm is due to be at its worst. Consider if your dog will actually benefit from the exercise or if indoor enrichment is more suited. If your cat prefers to be outside, make sure they can always get back indoors if they need to.
🏠 Create a β€˜safe space’ inside your home as your pet may take comfort in hiding away.
🐾 But don’t confine them as they may hurt themselves trying to get out; let them do whatever suits them the best.
🎢 Turn the TV or radio on, and close the curtains to block out any loud noise or flashing light.
🧸 Keep your pet distracted with a toy, or long lasting treat such as a chew or kong.
πŸ’• Act normally! Animals are very perceptive creatures, and if they notice you behaving strangely, they might too, so remaining calm will help them to do the same.

If your pet is still overly stressed by the storm after following this advice, talk to your vet for further advice on how to manage this in the future.

Stay safe out there πŸΎπŸ’™
