441 years ago today, the Great Fire of Nantwich

On this day 441 years ago, a fire ravaged the town of Nantwich… 🔥

December 10th 1583: A Nantwich brewer (Nicholas Brown) in Waterlode accidentally starts a fire - in one account from cooking, in another from brewing ale. The blaze burned on for 20 days, destroying 150 houses and inns and leaving 900 people (half the population of Nantwich) homeless.

Honestly, Nick. 🙄 He was later brought to Pillory Street for his terrible mistake.

A good win today against a physical Ruskin side to put us joint top of the table.

The game was close in the first half with things all square at 1-1 at the break with Mitch Stokes scoring a fantastic solo goal.

We went 2-1 behind in the second half but the lads did fantastic to fight back with a goal from James Emerton and captain marvel Jonny Proudlove continued his scoring form with another 2 goals to make that 6 goals in 3 games.

🏆Our Man of the Match went to Mitch Stokes who worked tirelessly up front and got a goal and assist. Other notable mentions to Euan Bull who got two assists, aswell as Andy Parkinson and of course our captain Jonny Proudlove.
