Young Horse Clinic
‘pre school’

By popular demand and lots of suggestions for such clinic, I bring you….

Saturday 17th August 2pm -3.15pm

‘Pre School ringcraft’
These sessions are small groups of green inexperienced horses and ponies that are starting out (not necessarily youngsters but green)

Each of you will have different things to get from the clinic so we will introduce each pair at the start and what you’d like to build on as handlers.

We can start with each horse individually, discussing as a group so we can all learn what is being taught and knowing where to start with each horse. I will demonstrate and start of each method as we go.

This gives also gives the horses an introduction to settling into new environments without feeding off others energy.

As it becomes productive to introduce more than one horse to the arena we can do so confidently and relaxed.

I will be covering a bit of everything to do with preparing horses for ‘yard/work life’
Good Horses are Made 🐴

Obviously the participants will determine where we start. We start where is needed with each horse… until they’re soft and content with everyday tasks and needs in new environments and eventually distractions.

Some starter ones,
touching, handling, pressure from head collar, leading well, feet and legs, farrier prep, washing, bandages, standing, socialising in hand, poling, equipment introductions, desensitisation to the basics like: sprays, scissors, trimmers, wormers, creams and ground hazards.
Body control Bringing us into foundation training and groundwork.

Saturday 17th August 2pm-3.15pm

Pre book only, £40 each, contact me to book or enquire.

Evening Obstacle Clinic -
Just outside Nantwich

Arena based, 1 hour, small group,
I will be on the ground to support you and your horse through the course of obstacles.
Assisting if you wish, helping you and your horse learn new things with confidence.

In hand, ridden or both welcome. Helpful for young horses, exposing them to different obstacles raises an opportunity for you to teach your horse how to deal with new or strange things they haven’t seen before.

This is also a very good way to get into some groundwork with your horse. Handling your horse from the ground to negotiate the course. As well as ridden for some of you.

Limited spaces so booking is essential, £40 payable on booking, please get in touch 07411046795 to book your space or with any enquiries 🤠🐎🐴

*Groundwork Clinic

This clinic is with your horse at my facility just outside Nantwich

Saturday 20th July 2pm - 3.15pm

It’s great experience for any horse, giving you the opportunity to take your horse out and train. In an environment he can ask questions and learn with his experiences.

Making him better next time not ‘managing’ what you have.

Manners and good behaviour at shows and gatherings are taught, when the horse understands the situations it will relax and grow in confidence with each good experience.
No
In our small group we shall work on foundation topics.
Covering foundation topics relevant to the participants.
These may include…

Lunging for respect, how and why we work the horse this way.

Controlling the hind quarters, the engine and why.

Standing still quietly in a group

In hand bridle work

Back up, from pressure and without pressure and why this is important.

Lateral flexions and start some lateral steps.

Gaining clear communication between you and your horse.
Learning to soften the horse and work with them from the ground effectively and progressively.

This is fantastic for young horses starting their education and journeys out. This is good for all partnerships, learn and grow confidence together with a strong foundation of communication.

To move onto working around one another softly, having the ‘tools’ to enable your horse to ‘focus’ and learn. Applying your ‘Ground rules’ when out in a positive, structured way when away from home.

This one is for everyone wanting to learn groundwork and improve their partnership.
These clinics can be progressive.

Please get in touch with any enquiries, for more info or to book. Payment on booking by bacs £40

I welcome you to come along and see the foundations of in hand bridle work, classically.
I will be showing you the basics in flexions, rein back and lateral steps, demonstrating with my horses and explaining the fundamental movements and how they benefit all horses, strengthening the mind and body whilst suppling and softening the horse.

* Explaining how a horse learns and how we can improve our communication with them. Bridle work

* How to get started with groundwork and why. Bridle work, starting lateral steps.

* Leadership, body language, contact and timing how and when to use.

* Explaining pressure release and how a horse learns from this. From the rein and stick in hand.

I will also demonstrate some tricks for fun with the horses and the reasons why I train tricks and work at liberty.

These demos will be progressive and held regularly…

Hats off to Emma and Jeanie with their training last week! No such thing as can’t being shown well.
I’d just like to point out that J is 25 years old. Still in work and in good health, she has learnt the methods as quick if not quicker tbf than id expect from a young horse. 🙌🥰
Emma is new to the ‘groundwork foundation’ and ‘training’ subject but I think she’s loving it. She’s doing a great job. Learning how to transfer her work from the ground and getting ‘at home’ on Jeanie stripping it all back, filling in any grey areas in their communication together. Having fun doing so obviously 😉🤠🦄

23/06/2024

When you can counter act an evasion from the horse (like stepping away from the block) they don’t bother using it as an evasion anymore 😜🤠 well done 👏

What a beautiful day yesterday ☀️
Thank you Sam Sharpe for having me at yours for the clinic. Thanks for the fabulous hospitality and lunch.
What a great group of people and horses. I had the pleasure of working with 11 combinations. We covered all sorts from the start in groundwork and communication, to lateral work, mounting block presenting, 2 year olds, fly spray and lunging for respect. I can’t wait to see your progress soon and hope to see some of you at mine soon for some clinics 🤗
A massive well done to you all 🙌🤗👏

Then I popped off to the beautiful Sommerford for some more lessons.

I’m feeling very proud today… of all my students. You really are great to teach guys 👌 I’ll share some clips of the past few weeks 🥰🐴 you are advancing all the time 🙌🦄

Thank you and well done to you all at last nights ‘Ringcraft Clinic’

I really enjoyed training with you all 🙌🤗 it went better than I had even planned.

I had great fun working with Harmony and Pal. What a pony! 😍 lovely for a small person to learn from. They were lunge and turning, yielding and backing up with ease together by the end. Oh and learning ‘hoofball’ 👏

I’m very proud of Sarah with Vespas first little event and her travelling training.
This is exactly what these clinics are for, training. It’s not always rainbows and unicorns 😉 we work to get that 🦄 as this pair showed very nicely. It was an ideal session and experience for V. Good work and result girls 👍
The lovely Linda and Jacko combo get stronger each time I see them. 👌 Linda’s leadership is becoming strong and her aids confident and consistent, making it easy for J to comply and relax in work. Lovely to see this pair enjoying learning from each other. Well done! 👏

The next Ringcraft Clinic will be Wednesday 17th July 6pm-7pm
