Alternatively I can provide a comfortable environment for the smaller pet at my own property; please note I am unable to accept dogs or cats at present, however hamsters, rats, tortoise, reptiles, birds all can be cared for. So now for the sad news, of course it doesn't stop this year.
Barnie's walk was cancelled yesterday first thing as I got a message saying he had to go into emergency vets very early hours Monday morning. Apparantly he couldn't walk properly and so he stayed in all day and overnight.
Today he has been transferred to Bristol after deteriorating at the vets. He didn't have use of his back legs at all and wasn't well.
The last update not long ago was that he was having the MRI and likely surgery. 😭
In all the years doing this! - I can't believe this is the 2nd IVDD case in a month 💔😭 Barnie wasn't with me like Penny was when it happened, but that doesn't stop me caring and worrying. I did pop to see Barnie as he left Afon to go to Bristol and gave him a big kiss.
I'm hoping all the positive thoughts and vibes that was sent to Penny can also be sent Barnie's way and hope for a full recovery for this gorgeous rascal 💔💕😭💕

Some from this week so far.... Snowy the pup has been coming along lovely, obviously very puppy but he is a sweetheart 💕
I provided a couple of days visit weekend before last to the absolutely gorgeous Squeak, Fluffy and Maisie. It had been a while since I saw them last so really lovely to see them. Stupidly I have no photo's of Maisie!, I must only have done a video of her. They're just so gorgeously adorable 💕😍
So lovely to have the gorgeous Pinot back in again so. Quickly after his last stay 💕 just love cwtching this gorgeous soppy boy. 😍

First time stay for Rainbow and Skittles the Quaker parrots. How adorable are they!!, and I love their names! 😁 They've been in since Monday and only in until Friday but such a pleasure having them to stay 😍💕
Thank you as always to Gareth and Rhys for allowing me to look after these gorgeous, loveable and funny rascals 😍. When I had a very down day last week - they certainly cheered me up when I went to their PM visit!

Info for my dog walking customers on hotter days....
Same as other years; I will provide walks if I feel it's not too hot. My van generally stays cool until 12/1 ish anyway and we go to cool wooded places where ideally there's streams.
If I ever feel a walk is too hot or a dog is struggling, walks will be shortened or cancelled. Walks may be slightly shortened to make sure all dogs are walked within a morning before any extreme heat.
If any are cancelled, I will do my best to provide home visits if needed. These will be chargeable though, in the past I've done these for free but I can no longer do that as there's still fuel and time.
Anyone wanting to cancel on hot days short notice, that's no problem 😊

Back Monday 12th August.
I will be off for those 2 weeks and I won't be answering any messages whatsoever!!!! My Sim will be taken out of my phone and my Facebook personal and business Messenger will be uninstalled off my phone.
I am very close to calling it a day with my business. That is the truth! I wanted to take time off next week but I can't as I have pets in on homeboard - so I will be taking those two weeks off and completely switching off and deciding whether I want to carry on next year.
Truth - I work my arse off though physical pain and mental pain!!!! Trying to avoid minimal disruption with cancellations!
Yesterday being implied I'm not reliable is virtually the last straw for me this year after an absolute s**t 6 months. Yes I need to grow some leather skin and stop being sensitive but when you're already close to depression it's easier said than done when you put your everything in to the business and always put the pets first.
Everything else feels like it is spiralling lower and lower and sometimes kindness is needed or at the very least understanding.
I'm not a robot. I am a human being! Please remember that.
I have so many understanding and lovely customers, I really do. Thank you 💕

Lovely Ivan, this is Nells cat sibling. I provided a couple of visits to this gorgeous boy earlier this month, only showed his face the one day to me! Such a funny lad 😍💕
Don't bother trying to do Macrame when there are kittens about!!!! 🙈🤣
I managed to finish the macrame but whilst the kittens were sleeping and not looking 🤣 even managed to make a couple of wall sconces for my bathroom using some of my pallet wood that was hanging around in the garden. After seeing them on Etsy for nearly £30 I thought sod that!..... Made within an hour for pennies 😊
What I do with a little bit of down time - always crafting or making things etc 😊
Couple of other things yesterday; welcoming a pup to our walks and Penny having movement in her back legs!, I also received these photos from Rafa's mum when Rafa spotted my van whilst out on their walk 😍😁😍 haha "is Tina in there?" 😊
The other thing - Barney boy absolutely smelt amazing after his groomers visit, my van was smelling absolutely amazing!!!! Like I need an excuse to kiss my dogs, but Barney had a few extra yesterday so I could smell his fur! 🙈🤣🤣

I've checked in the IVDD group and this is definitely a positive sign, seems she's going to the toilet herself as well and doesn't need help with bladder extraction.
Complete positivity!!!!! What a gal!!!! Grade 5 and recovery is commencing 😍💕😍💕
So today, this happened! Tina introduced not only a new dog to our pack which is rare in itself these days as I don't take on many new dogs - but a pup at that!!! Which is really unheard of with me. Nothing against pups but I don't really have time for the 1/2 hour pup visit's but I'm glad I said yes to the gorgeous Jack Russell - Snowy! 😍😁😍

It's upsetting seeing Penny still paralysed but she's so funny and went absolutely crazy when I turned up today for her visit 🤣😍💕
I couldn't extract her bladder so I think I may have been doing that wrong but I reckon I will get that right tomorrow after watching more YouTube videos. And when I tried to give her, her two minute exercise with the sling, she's purposely rolling over to have belly rubs instead, narrowly avoiding the damn stitches! Yep, she's still a rascal!
So the fundraiser raised £666! You amazing lot!, thank you so much! I'll try my best now to fully round that up and pay the fees on the Just Giving site. What an amazing community we dog lovers are!

I saw the gorgeous Penny today 💕😍 photos attached are from her dad as I was so excited to see her that I didn't even take photo's.
I'm closing the fundraiser later, I have given the cash to Derek and will transfer the rest tomorrow. Will give proof when all this is done.
So Penny still doesn't have use of her legs which isn't a surprise, it was always going to be a long road to recovery, months even before there's possibly any dps. But wow, this girl is so full of happiness and love for life - so please keep sending positive thoughts that she can and will get walking again 😍💕😍
After reading all the stories of IVDD in this breed, I'm not surprised that Germany are looking to ban the breeding of Dachshunds. I'm not saying I agree with it - but I'm gobsmacked by how many young dogs are affected by it.

Unfortunately more sad news, Amy the guinea pig I posted the other day. She didn't make it unfortunately. I did say that her parents were amazing receiving the sad news I had to rush her to the vets whilst they were on holiday as their guinea pigs have been coming to me for years - Since August 2016 to be exact. Amy and her sister Ginger were since 2021!! So many lovely photo's of their guinea pigs over the years. Amy was their last.
So pictures of Amy, Ginger, Chocolate (2) (who was due to stay also but passed away in December), Sarah, Fred, Honey and Chocolate (1) - it was an absolute pleasure welcoming and seeing them over the years and sadly having one less each time.
Ieuan and his parents are just the best guinea pig parents.
I received the sad news that Minty the Senegal passed away a couple of weeks ago (apologies to his mum for only now getting these photo's on). Minty was a sweet gentle boy and I was looking forward to seeing him this month, but it wasn't meant to be. He was such a sweetheart and a few photo's to remember him.
Morning, would anyone with an amazing home be able to offer a home for life for this gorgeous boy? I would take this boy in a heartbeat, unfortunately but respectfully Glynn is wary of dogs that are bigger than Sandy size (whippet) so I can't do that to him.

Penny - no major updates unfortunately - as to be expected, there's no change since surgery and could be a very long road to recovery if that happens....I've been reading a lot on IVDD and there are a lot of positive stories though!!!
Amy - the vets kept her in yesterday after the scan for observation, they're not sure what it is casuing the bleed but there is a growth. I just saw her briefly just now and gave her a big cwtch love her so big positive thoughts there also 💕

Beautiful Amy - she's been in for over two weeks. This is where I am at my max with how much more s**t can be thrown to be honest and so close to saying f### it all!!!!
Yesterday I had to make a rushed visit to the vets as Amy showed signs of bloat the evening before but kept an eye on her and bloat seemed to subside slightly, however when I got back from walks, her belly was swollen and blood coming from her back end.
Completely healthy in herself, eating, loving cuddles and happy! But we are back to the vets this morning for 2nd apt for a scan to see exactly what is going on. Her parents are home tomorrow, thankfully again, they have been coming to me for years, I reckon nearly 8 years actually so they know me well and were amazing when I told them the news lastnight.
So positive thoughts for Penny and now obviously Amy!
Thursday and for some reason I didn't take any photos of Friday 2nd walk! So lovely to see Juno!!!! (and lovely catch up with her dad), hadn't seen her for quite a while and what an amazing cwtch she gave me.... No exaggeration! She literally stands not far off my height and just stood holding me with her front legs wrapped around me, every time I tried to give her head a kiss, I was nearly having my teeth knocked out with her enthusiasm 🤣😍 that felt amazing.
This week has been horrendous, actually correct that, this year has been horrendous but being around these pets does feel amazing - despite being very very close to closing my business. I will never get used to working with animals will not come without heartbreak. But so many amazing moments 💕
These were the first 2 walks Wednesday, everything was going so well up until I started pick up for 3rd walk!!!! 💕

I've had dogs try to get in on our walks as freeloaders - but not pigeons!!!! 😍💕 He's more than welcome of course.... And yes I do talk to pigeons as well... He was ok and could fly 🤣🤣😍
Remembered to take my phone out this morning whilst defrosting the bird baths and to put food out for the squirrels and birds...my morning pal 🥰😍
