THE NEW NORMAL

After 3 months of lockdown we have been allowed back in Wales to reopen our non-essential shops but there will be a few differences when you visit us in the market. For John Rees Leather Merchants this means the following.
☆ A Covid Secure risk assessment has been carried out.
☆ An increased cleaning of surfaces and touchpoint devices like card machines.
☆ The provision of hand sanitizer for use by both you and me.
☆ The restriction of people allowed into the stall to include only me and members of my own household only.
☆ You will be encouraged to use contactless card payments if you can.
☆ Any items returned for exchange will be placed into quarantine for 72 hours before being put back on display.
☆ Try and retain a reasonable distance between you and the next person so to keep social distancing. Be patient and kind to others.

I am sure that if we all know our duties to each other during this next phase in the pandemic and exercise a little common sense we can move on quicker to a world free from this deadly virus.

IN PRAISE OF THE HUMBLE FERRULE

A ferrule may look insignificant as a chunk of rubber or metal at the bottom of a walking stick or umbrella but it is a vital piece of kit in your mobility support. The ferrule has to take the whole weight of the person's body and needs to connect safely with the terrain on which it has contact. Your walking cane may be the finest in the land but if your ferrule is broken or worn down by use then it is a dysfunctional one. The Original Moccs
On a recent trip to London we popped into the British Museum and in the section dedicated to North American history saw several examples of Native American footwear from which we get our great moccasins. It really gives you a sense of time continuity - connecting the past with the present.

Quality Always Sells
That's how it should be. If you sell decent stuff then you build up a reputation for reliability and confidence. However in these difficult times when everyone is mindful of watching the pennies cost has to be considered too. I know how hard it is for many of my customers to get the stuff they want but can't afford it. I would never sell items that are way out of people's price range and try my best to look for value for money. In the current climate and with wholesale prices continuing to rise this is not always possible. So forgive me if some items remain relatively high. I don't want it this way but I have very little option especially as I need to make a living for myself as well. Thanks for your continued support.😃😎😉
