If you've not yet read our Fireworks Night safety blog then check out the below link.

You will find 8 essential tips to help your furry friends stay relaxed and comfortable during the fireworks.

Here is a shortened version of our advice:

1️⃣ 🐕🚶‍♀️ Walk your dog early to release some energy before fireworks start.

2️⃣ 🏠 Create a cosy indoor space where they can retreat.

3️⃣ 🐰🐹 Bring small outdoor pets, like rabbits, indoors if possible.

4️⃣ 🎵 Play soothing music to mask the noise.

5️⃣ 💆🏻‍♀️ Try a gentle massage to help them relax.

6️⃣ 🧘‍♂️ Stay calm—your pet picks up on your emotions and body language!

7️⃣ 😿 Respect their coping style—let them hide or snuggle if they need to.

8️⃣ 👩‍⚕️ Talk to your vet if they get too distressed.

✨ Let's make Bonfire night as stress-free for our pets as possible! 💖

🎃🐾 Happy Halloween from Petpals! 🐾🎃

Halloween is a fun time for everyone, but it’s important to keep our pets safe during all the festivities! Here are some tips to make sure your furry friends stay happy and healthy tonight:

🍬 Keep Sweets Out of Reach: Many treats, especially chocolate, are dangerous for pets. Make sure sweet bowls are in safe spots, and remind little trick-or-treaters not to share with their furry friends!

🎇 Mind the Decorations: Some Halloween decorations can be tempting to explore or chew on. Keep electrical cords, candles, and breakable decor out of reach.

👻 Costume Comfort: Don't force your pets to wear costumes! If however your pet enjoys dressing up, make sure costumes are comfortable, fit well, and don’t restrict movement, breathing, or vision.

🚪 Reduce Doorbell Stress: Constant doorbell rings can stress some pets. Set up a quiet room with their favourite toys and a cosy bed where they can feel safe if things get too lively.

🏡 Keep Pets Indoors: Loud noises and extra foot traffic can cause pets to bolt. Keep them indoors and ensure your pet’s ID tags and microchip info are up-to-date, just in case.

Have a safe and spooky Halloween! 🎃 🐶🐱

Today is ⚖️🐾 Pet Obesity Awareness Day 🐾⚖️, and it's a great reminder to help our furry friends stay at a healthy weight! An overweight pet can face a range of health issues, from joint pain to heart disease and in some cases it can even shorten their life expectancy by up to 2 and a half years!

Here are some simple ways to ensure your cat or dog stays fit and happy:

🐕 Portion Control: Feed the right amount for your pet's size and activity level. Check the food label for guidance and avoid overfeeding.

🐈 Regular Exercise: Take your dog for daily walks or engage in playtime with your cat. Interactive toys or a game of fetch can make all the difference!

🦴 Healthy Treats: Swap high-calorie treats for healthier options like carrots for dogs or small portions of cooked chicken for cats. Remember, treats should make up no more than 10% of their daily intake.

🍗 Scheduled Feeding: Avoid free-feeding and stick to a feeding schedule. This can help prevent overeating and keep your pet on track.

👨‍⚕️ Vet Visits: Schedule regular vet check-ups to monitor your pet's weight and overall health.

👩‍🎓Educate Yourself: Attend a webinar to learn how to tackle pet obesity with our in-house Vet Dr. Sophie Bell's course on Fat Cats and Podgy Pooches: https://www.animalloveonline.co.uk/courses/podgy-dogs-and-fat-cats

A healthy pet is a happy pet! Let's make sure our cats and dogs live long, healthy lives by managing their weight. 🐶🐱💪

It's Pet Remembrance Day today. At Petpals we understand how every pet is a beloved family member. Losing a pet can be one of the most painful experiences to go through and coping with their loss can be incredibly difficult.

There are some beautiful ways in which to remember your companion and cherish all those precious moments with them. Here are a few ideas that you may consider to commemorate your pet:

• Create a photo album of all of the special times you shared.
• Hire an artist to paint a cherished photo of them.
• Plant a tree or plant in the garden in their memory.
• Create a memory box of their belongings.
• Celebrate their birthday each year and remember all the amazing times you shared.

If you are suffering from bereavement from the loss of your pet, then there are many organisations out there who can help, offer advice, or provide a sympathetic ear. You can find great support from the following organisations:
