when the weather isn't the best and the dog you're sitting isn't a fan of rain so you take him on a little coffee adventure instead. ☕

Cooper had so much fun exploring new areas and making friends with all the customers who were absolutely smitten by him (I mean, who could resist this face?).

and even though our total walking time to and from the cafe was only about 40mins he was totally pooped from all the new sniffs and experiences and had a really good nap in the afternoon.

🧠 What is Mental Stimulation?

mental stimulation and enrichment can really help when you've got a dog who doesn't care for rainy days and won't really enjoy walks in this weather. using their brains can make them just as (if not more) tired!

of course mental enrichment comes in a variety of different forms, you don't always have to take them on a fancy coffee date. 😉

training, sniffing games (e.g. find it), snuffle mats, cardboard boxes with scrunched up paper and treats, puzzle/slow feeders, kongs, lickimats - anything that gets your dog thinking, working towards a goal or processing new information.

it can really help if you know your dog's breed specific traits so you can cater the enrichment to their natural instincts (e.g. sniffing games for hunting breeds). ðŸĐ 🐕
