For those of you that order products from my online store, you will be used to seeing the packaging from RAJA. They provide a great service with a huge product range that should suit all companies both big and small.

I was delighted to be one of their mystery winners, celebrating their 70th anniversary, and received a great box full of goodies, including a Kodak Step instant photo printer! Thank you so much RAJA, as we will have fun testing it all out over Christmas! 😃

This is a great video that has been shared with me by a client. This is some of her horses self selecting the OKAPI minerals and really enjoying them!
I sell a variety of minerals and the granule ones can be used for self selection as well as added to bucket feed.
The Junior minerals are for horses under 6 years old, Pure minerals for those between 6 and 20 years old and the Senior minerals for those over 20 years old.
All the minerals are in the natural form, with no added alfalfa or yeast which is really important to check when using vitamin and mineral balancers.
Please let me know if you have any queries about using minerals for horses. 😊🐴

I have just been away for the weekend in Herefordshire, to learn more about AlignmentHORSE. This was a fabulous course going through more of the theory and then a short practical demo about the starting points. We got to see four horses which are going to be part of a pilot study, and monitored over the next year by a podiatrist, equine dental technician, saddle fitter, osteopathic vet and others. The owner is going to carry out regular teaching in this work for the horses and it will be so interesting to see how they change over this time period.

The weather was not quite on our side with storm Bert wreaking havoc and flooding so many roads, but we all managed to learn some more and just about get home!!

For me, this is the missing piece of the puzzle for so many horses (including my gang) as most are not taught how to move in a way that will put less strain on their bodies (and ours) and also enable their brains to be connected to their bodies.

There will now be several clinics next year in different parts of the UK, including some local to me. If you are interested in finding out more then please contact me for more information and if you are in the New Forest area, pop in and I can chat/demo some of the ideas behind it.

It was so lovely to see my gang playing in the snow today. They haven’t seen snow for a few years so were making the most of an environmental change!

I think all animals and children seem to love playing in fresh snow! 😊❄️🐴

I am loving learning more about AlignmentHORSE and the approach to in-hand and ridden work. I have not found anything that has explained why so many horses have issues both in their body and mind and this approach is key to addressing these issues, in my opinion.

I have been using this approach since April last year with my horses and they are all at different stages in the process, depending on what issues they have got. This approach would be perfect to integrate with all young horses, but as my lot are older, they are more rehab cases! It doesn't matter how old they are but will obviously take longer for physical issues to be resolved as they won't have been using their bodies in the best way to answer all our questions. Actually my 22 year old pony is picking it up faster than all the younger ones!

There is a fantastic set of clinics set up for next year, with a theory weekend kicking off soon, which I would highly recommend everyone going to. If you haven't got a clue what this is all about, then come along to find out more, ask questions and even ask Liz's advice about your particular horse.

EMS DIAGNOSIS IN HORSES/ADIPONECTIN BIOMARKER:

Equine Metabolic Syndrome is a tricky topic to understand and many vets use the biomarker adiponectin to help diagnose it.

If you would like to understand more about adiponectin (in humans as well as horses) then I suggest you watch this free video. It contains all the science behind this marker so you can understand how it works.

I can also help with feeding advice, how to distinguish excess fat/lymph and any specific help that you may need. I also suggest that you download the free Sanoanimal app for this too as then you can monitor what your horse looks like as well as help distinguish fat/lymph.

Adiponectin has become quite popular as a diagnostics parameter for EMS. But how does this work and how reliable are the results? Our video dives into

This is why I always say to remove horses from the field when the grass gets eaten down to 10cm high. It really damages the grass ecosystem. Think about what is happening in the soil.

Also be mindful as we approach the colder months that the grass will get ‘stressed’ producing more sugars and toxins therefore try and avoid grass over winter if you can. Make sure horses have plenty of unwrapped hay available.

My lot were just chilling down in the field part of the track this morning and were late for breakfast! As soon as they saw me they realised the time and followed me back up to the yard. 😊

I have just spent a couple of days away at the Equine Podiatry Association conference near Milton Keynes. It was a superb event and I highly recommend people attending next year.
There were all sorts of lectures on NPA, the influence of teeth and hooves, bridle and bit fit affecting posture and movement, pain responses, trimming wild horses in nature reserves and many more.
It was great to chat to podiatrists about how they can help horses with their diet too and I also had a lovely evening walk along the Grand Union Canal. 😊🌅

MOULTING!

I know we might not like to think of darker/colder/wetter days quite yet, but the horses have already sensed a change in the length of daylight hours. Their bodies are preparing to moult, which is one of the toughest periods of time for their organs, especially the kidneys.

It is possible to support them during this time, by feeding OKAPI Detox herbs, spirulina, sulphur (MSM) and zinc. This will help support the kidneys, mop up excess toxins, and help with protein (hair) production. These products should be given together for the next 6 weeks, even if you haven't noticed any shedding of hair yet.

If your horses are looking more 'lymphatic' or itchy, then they definitely need this support, but it will benefit all horses at this time.

10 years ago today Evie arrived in my life. What a turning point that was as I wouldn't be doing what I do now without her. She got me on the path of being a Masterson Method Certified Practitioner and then studying more about hindgut/metabolic health in horses and now helping more horses and owners.

I owe a lot to her. 🥰

Today's job was to get my track more 'Winter ready' as the deep clay is not helpful for me or the horses. I didn't have enough mats down the bottom part of the track which was unusable last winter.

The first photo is the 'before' and the last ones are 'after' laying down the mats.

We flattened the ground using a basic arena grader behind the tractor and then put a mixture of WF-Racing mats and Mud Control mats. I still need to get some more as I know water does run down the hill from the other side too, but this is a good improvement!

It takes time to build up a track as you want it as you only know with use how it copes.

The horses all look a lot better though from being off the grass, alongside herbal metabolic therapy. 🙂👍🐴

SHIPPING CHANGES:

So the boring bit about an online business is the cost and time it takes to pack and ship parcels. Up until now, I have been packing them and trundling off to my local DPD drop off shops with my trusty trolley! When there were several parcels to ship, this sometimes involved driving to different locations as the shops weren't happy to take several parcels at one time. This ended up taking up too much of my time and I wasn't happy with the service it was offering to you all either.

As from today (27th August), the parcels will now be collected from me, so you should all have a better service. You might also notice some different packaging so please let me know if that works ok or whether there are any issues with that.

I have not put up my shipping prices, even though this has never covered the cost of shipping or packaging (something I didn't appreciate until I ran a small business!).

Hopefully this should allow me a bit more time to devote to answering all your questions and helping more horses and owners. 🙂

My Story

I undertake equine bodywork treatments using the Masterson Method®, Tucker Biokinetic Therapy, Red Light Therapy and Kinesiology taping. Treatments cost £40 for an hour and a half, but there are special offers on here or my website.

I also have personal experience of dealing with horses with stomach ulcers and PSSM. I have spent a lot of time researching equine gut health, which is essential for well being of the horse.

I also work closely with Amanda Barton, who can help with the essential role of getting the horse to move correctly after treatment, for long term benefits. She uses a variety of techniques and is working closely with Jec Aristotle Ballou.

I also stock and sell St Hippolyt and Haven feeds, which are good quality European feeds. It is important to maintain the gut of the horse, and these can definitely help. Please contact me if you would like more information.
