My lot were just chilling down in the field part of the track this morning and were late for breakfast! As soon as they saw me they realised the time and followed me back up to the yard. 😊
MINERALS:
This is one of my ponies self selecting the OKAPI Pure Minerals G. I love using self selection as it can be really interesting which ones want the minerals and how much they would like.
Offering them to my four, one didn't want any, one wanted a mouthful and the other two wanted quite a lot. I just let them take as much as they needed until they had finished. For those that wanted minerals today, I will offer them every day until they refuse them, and then after that offer them once a week until they ask for them again.
If you are not sure which OKAPI minerals to use, the Senior ones are for those over 20yrs, the Pure minerals are for those between 6 and 20yrs old and the Junior minerals are for those 6yrs and under or brood mares.
If you use any other brand please make sure that the minerals are in the INORGANIC form (apart from sulphur which is MSM) and no added yeast or pre/probiotics.

What do you put in your horse’s feed bucket?
In this bucket is a handful of Simple System HayCare, a handful of Sainfoin Fibre pellets plus a large handful of Okapi Four Seasons Summer Herbs.
There is not much else required as they have access to a pink salt lick, and a mineral lick. I also offer minerals via self selection. The only other products in the feed bucket would be herbs/supplements to help with specific health issues and medication if required.
Keep the bucket feed very simple, IF you actually need to use a bucket feed! 😊

So what can you see in this video?
It might not look like much and look very basic but actually this is a huge step in this mare's progress. For years she has looked angry when 'lunging' which would have been due to fear and a complete disconnect with her body too. This video is after working with her for a few minutes at a time, a couple of times a week for a month, asking her (not making or telling) whether she could stand still briefly and then move. Initially this was moving just one step in any direction she chose, apart from backwards, and rewarding this and stopping the session. She was very cross to start with and would have ears back and could be threatening, but in this video she is thinking for herself and is taking baby steps in being in control of her own body.
I could not have started this program without the help of Liz VanRoss and her AlignmentHorse approach, and now we are ready to ask for baby steps again for the initial steps in shoulder alignment.
All this work is very subtle and might not look as if we are doing much, but the connection between the handler and the horse has to be very good in order to ask the horse questions. Much of what we do with horses does not involve the horse thinking for itself, and this approach gives the horse the opportunity to think for itself and understand what feels better for it's body in movement. In my opinion that is very powerful for the horse!
I am very excited to be learning more about this approach so I can help my horses be more comfortable in movement and then have the power and strength back to undertake any sport. I know it will take time as the body has to change, which takes longer than the mind, but this is a great journey!! 😍
Welcome to our new Equine Health Subscription Box with 10% discount if you order in May/June!
This contains a bag of suppportive herbs, minerals and either berries or seeds.
The Four Seasons herbs support your horse with the types of herbs your horse would be seeking out at each particlular time of year. Choose the bag size appropriate to the size of your horse/pony eg 10kg for a horse, 5kg for a pony and the bag should last for 2 months.
Next choose which minerals your horse needs depending on age etc and how you like to feed your horse, whether it is in the bucket or by hand.
Then choose whether you would like wild berries or wild seeds and you can easily alternate every two months to provide some variety.
If you order now, then you should expect delivery around the beginning of June and the subscription will renew every two months. You are able to change, skip, cancel at any point in time, from your account on the website.
Also, if you use the code 'FREEDEL' at checkout, you will get free delivery too!
Please contact us if you have any questions about this or other products.

I love the effect the Masterson Method has on horses and ponies. This pony loves it as soon as I start, even if he actually thought he was hungry!
In this video I do have my right hand on his back with a very light touch and he was really feeling it throughout his body. He is so much better after a few regular sessions, as he tweaked himself squeezing through a small gap.

If anyone is interested in seeing the main loop of my track, I have taken a short video. Yes it is muddy but that will mean minimal grass and actually the horses spent nearly all last night out here when they could have walked up to the yard if they wanted. They have plenty of hay, and shelter under the trees so they seem happy enough.
The T-posts are working so well and I haven’t had any issues with them from a horse, sheep or deer perspective! 😊
No this isn’t a photo!! If you look carefully you can see subtle movements of the right fore and left hind as this horse releases tension. This is not a stretch with the right fore but relaxation, as there isn’t full weight on the right fore. Subtle responses lead to large changes throughout the body. #mastersonmethod #relaxationforhorses
Tucking into yummy breakfast containing herbs to support the hindgut.
One of my horses did her own leg releases on the mattress, just putting herself wherever she wanted. I didn’t worry about the fact that she had folded it up as maybe she wanted to stand on a thicker surface? It was interesting what she was doing with the left fore as well.
After completing a fascial release course last week, I worked on this mare today and she really loved the work on her neck.
