Phew! What a hectic couple of weeks! Early starts, late finishes, Blue being in the garage for emergency repairs, me getting Carpal Tunnel again, Training & Emergency Vet visits to deal with; I think I'm not asking too much to have a quiet weekend?! Or a quiter week head!

The Art of De-Dogging Your Dog

Let’s face it, the ultimate goal of good dog training isn’t to let your dog be a dog—it’s to strip them of their dogness entirely. Why let them indulge in those silly, natural behaviours when you can force them into arbitrary rules that serve no purpose other than to inflate your sense of control?

Start with the basics: make them sit in an unnatural position before doing anything—before walking through a door, before eating, before breathing (okay, maybe not that last one… or maybe!). It’s not like sitting makes any difference to their ability to walk, eat, or breathe, but it sure does make you feel powerful, doesn’t it?

Then there’s the fun part: don’t let them sniff or get distracted. Ever. I mean, who needs to explore the world when they can stare at you all day, right? Nothing should be more important to your dog than you. After all, the world around them is just a distraction from the most vital task of all: boosting your ego.

In no time, with enough micro-management, you’ll condition your dog to obey you no matter what. And voilà! You’ve successfully turned your lively, joyful companion into a robotic creature devoid of any real dog-like qualities. They won’t think, they won’t explore, they’ll just obey. Brilliant stuff, indeed. 🤖

Disclaimer: If you actually want a happy, well-adjusted dog, let them be dogs. Seriously, it’s not that hard.

This is my Ashley. I know I go on about her, but I have done some seriously hard work & behaviour training with her. Ashley copes better with strange dogs if YOU & YOUR DOG STAND STILL. She doesn't freak out as much & can say hello to your dog. If you continue to WALK TOWARDS US, Ashley WILL freak out. You don't get it, but I do. My girl has done NOTHING to hurt your dog, but she has been attacked by STRANGE dogs OFF LEAD several times. Let's also bear in mind that she's always ON LEAD. Because you deem her a danger to your dog.

I run a boarding business. If Ashley hated all dogs, we wouldn't be able to board. Yesterday, she spent the day playing with one of our occasional boarders, Theo. She hasn't seen Theo in a long time. Yet, here she is. Happy, content & making our home yours too. Yes, she's reactive. But so would I be if you continue to pick on me. So please listen to me if I shout instructions to you. It'll make your walk - and mine; much more enjoyable.

Morning all. After receiving a £900 bill for having my cat put to sleep, I have taken the decision to change my vet.
We are now registered with Montgomery Veterinary Clinic, Evegate, Ashford. I am saddened that the day after my cat was PTS, I started to receive phone calls & messages telling me I owed the money. That vet has gone corporate & seems like they don't care about their clients; just the money.
It saddens me that companies like them (not just this industry) chase for money immediately upon receipt of invoices.
It has always been known that you have X amount of days/weeks to pay, & in our current climate, we should be more understanding to the Customer. I will change any old paperwork to reflect the change, & make sure my new paperwork has the details.
I was also mortified to find that my 3 girl's Monthly Subscriptions had had a 200% increase overall & I cannot justify the price!
Anyway, hope you are all enjoying the weekend sunshine & I'll see you all tomorrow 🥰🥰🥰

These are my girls. They are by no means perfect. Each of them has a flaw. But, what I can tell you is they are all very well behaved. Those flaws mean nothing to me. Because they are MY girls. And each of them is perfect in every single way. My girls are my world. And Ashley is getting there slowly. She just needs to see that no other dog is a threat. (Easier said than done when I was on the receiving end of the last attack 🙄). I love my girls, & I'll always protect them in any way I can. They are my family. Whatever flaws your dogs have, not every flaw can be trained out. Unless by some miracle, I wake up tomorrow & find the first dog in the world has had a "personality flaw transplant!" 🤣 then please don't expect us to be miracle workers. We aren't. We can modify certain behaviours & we can train manners. But sometimes, Fido just won't accept that the door cannot be opened by making a dog shaped hole through it. Or that Rover steals food when you're not looking. It's a flaw, but it's what makes them unique. You know, kinda like people. So love your dogs, flaws & all. Cos you'll sure miss them when they're gone.
(NOTE: If your dog steals food, please make your kitchen/pantry inaccessible to your dog. There are certain foods that could kill your bestie.)

This little lady is Bunny. We welcome her to the Healy's Hounds Family. She's an extremely nervous rescue, so baby steps with her & garden visits till she gets used to me. She's doing a good job though, & will hopefully be joining us on walks soon 🥰🥰🥰

3 years ago, I suffered a Mental Breakdown & felt like leaving this World. 3 years ago, I decided that I would never work for anyone ever again. I know at least 2 of my employer's were racist & made my life a living hell. I've been accused of all sorts; All I can say to that is rumours are hurtful, deceptive & simply NOT TRUE.
So I picked myself up from the gutter, studied till 3am for weeks on end & made myself a name. That name is Healy's Hounds.
I have been trading for 3 years now, (tomorrow is the official birth date, but I'll probably forget!) & it is without doubt, the best thing I have ever done. I have the most amazing Clients (your hoomans are OK too 😉🤣) & I thank every single person, dog, rabbit, cat & other furries for making me what I am today 🧡🐶🐱🐭🐰🐔🐴🧡. Within that time, we welcomed 2 more dogs 🐕 to our household, but, unfortunately, we have also lost pets 🐱😞. But, with all your support, I can get through each day knowing that your Companions will make me smile on a daily basis. Thank you for supporting me & my business. And thank you to my husband & daughter for putting up with the endless dogs that come through our doors! 🧡🩷🧡🩷🧡🩷🧡

The only thing I have left to say to my previous employers is:

You never thought I'd amount to anything. But hard work, determination & the will to live have got me here. And I am proud of me. More proud than I've ever been in my life. And I did it ALL BY MYSELF. 😘👌

This was me today. My first day back. Only had 4, but they decided that a deadly game of 'Break Thy Neck' was much better than a sniff. Thank you, Joe Bloggs who thought it was hilarious that I was asking the dogs to untangle the 'Maypole', aka ME. "You go there, now you come this way. Stop. Right. Now you go through here....." Mr Joe Bloggs did eventually come & help when I'd run out of arms, legs & patience! 🤦🏽‍♀️🤣

A sad note to share;

At the weekend, we lost our dear little black & white cat. The day after my daughter's birthday. She was 14½ years old. We are all saddened by the tragic events that my husband had to deal with alone. This leaves my only remaining cat, Teddy. From four cats to one. Since her death, he has come indoors & wanted to be with the humans. I honestly don't know why we're having such rotten luck, but perhaps I'm being punished for something I did in a previous life...... who knows...... 😔
R.I.P Womble. Go & join Spider & your sister, Cheeky. We're fairly certain Cheeky is up there too, but have never had proof. Ted is an only cat now, but at least he's dog savvy. Ted is 13 (ish). He came to us at a year old from an old neighbour who had rescued him from horrendous living conditions. Ted is placid, loves a belly rub & will talk to you for hours. He's very affectionate. Neighbours; if you see him please LEAVE HIM ALONE. He's our cat, always has been & always will be.

**IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT**

As with every year, the temperature gets hotter. This means that any afternoon walks will be moved to either early mornings or later in the day. If your dog is home alone, I shall pop along to give them a much needed toilet break in addition to their walk. You will not be charged extra for this.

YOUR DOG IS MY PRIORITY.

You've all read the terms & conditions when you signed the Contract, so walks may be limited/shortened depending on weather. Make sure your dogs have plenty of fresh water, & I shall do the same.

IF IT'S TOO HOT TO WALK, I WON'T RISK YOUR DOG'S HEALTH.

If any of you have any concerns, feel free to contact me. Other than that, have a fab weekend in the sun! 🌞🥰🥰
