I have some exciting news I'd like to share with you all 😊

As some of you may know, I have a very strong spiritual belief. This is something I believe helps me with training and understanding dogs and their behaviour.

But, I always want to know more. I always want to get a greater understanding of what and why, when it comes to dogs behaviour, their minds and drivers.

I am in training to become a certified Animal Communicator! 😃

I am literally learning how to get into animals heads and it is blowing my mind!

Being an Animal Communicator means that I am able to telepathically talk to animals and they are able to talk back to me in the same way.

They are able to tell me things about their past. Things they like and dislike. Things that make them anxious or happy and everything in between.

It is an amazing journey and one I believe is going to make an amazing difference in many dogs (animals) lives with behavioural struggles and otherwise.

I am dedicated in my quest to help as many dogs and dog owners as I can, to help them live contented, balanced and happy lives. Becoming an Animal Communicator is definitely going to help me in achieving this. 😀

I am super excited to be offering this service in the very near future. 😊

If you have any questions about this, put them in the comments below 👇 and I would be happy to answer them. 😃

Did you know that you can physically exercise your dog too much? 😳

If a dog is showing hyperactive behaviours, a lot of the time people automatically assume that the dog needs more exercise.

Oh but you couldn't be more wrong!

By exercising your dog more, you are actually building up its stamina (producing an athlete) which means it is going to take more and more exercise to get rid of that excess energy which is feeding into that excitement.

What we need to be doing is teaching our dogs how to bring their energy levels down and practice calm. And as dogs are more of what they practise, the more they practise calm the more it'll be their go to behaviour.

I have an on line course available for you to purchase, that shows you exactly how to do this, that you can work through in the comfort of your own home at a pace that suits you and your dog.

You can find this and all my other online courses on my website.

*BENTLEY UPDATE*

Today Bentley seems to have turned a corner. 😃

He is far more like the gorgeous beagle we love so dearly. Giving us an enthusiastic tail wag when he sees one of his Mummies and even letting us know when he thinks there is something outside we need to know about! (I never thought I would be so happy to hear that unmistakable beagle howl 😂).

Unfortunately he is still passing blood (not anywhere near as frequent as he was) and he is still very fatigued but fingers crossed🤞this will change in the not too distant future.

Thank you to everyone for all of your kind message, well wishes and healing. ❤️💙💚💛🧡

The past few days have been horrendous for the Ed's Dog household, and it's not over yet! 😌

Our gorgeous beagle Bentley Boy is a very poorly little dog right now!

Without going into too many graphic details,.he has been passing what looks like pure blood nearly every hour for the passed few days, being sick and acting very lethargic.

2 visit to the vets later, including an emergency visit at 10:30 last night, and they still are not sure what is wrong with our boy 😥.

After giving him an anti sickness injection (so we can at least try to get some water to stay in him) and arming us with 2 different probiotics which we somehow have to get into him, we brought him back home being told to watch him closely for any changes and to hope that the sickness doesn't come back after the effects of the injection wears off in 24 hours. 🤞

So why am I telling you all this?

Well apart from hoping that all the healing thoughts that you will all send Bentley will help with his recovery, I wanted to talk about how Bentley being so poorly is also having a huge effect on the rest of our pack!

As you hear me speak about a lot, dogs work off of energy. They communicate using energy. They understand what is happening in situations using energy and they pick up on feelings through energy! When the energy is not as it usually is (unbalanced if you like) they know something is wrong and their survival skills kick in because they have to keep themselves and their pack safe!

And that is exactly what has happened in the Ed's Dog pack!

Anxiety levels are heightened, which in two of my dogs is displayed by high levels of excitement (anxiety and excitement sit very closely together), jumpiness and our emotional buckets are brimming ready to overflow at any moment!

Something had to be done about this for the good of our whole pack including Bentley, to give him the best chance of recovery.

So I decided to give my dogs some certainty!
I put my 3 little ones leads on and we headed out of the environment where the energy felt anxious and unfamiliar to them and we went to a place where they could sniff, wonder and relax. It was a place that they always enjoy going, full of familiar smells, good passed experiences and positive energy.

I allowed them to decompress, before doing exercises that I knew they knew, using this opportunity to praise every small win that they had to creating as much certainty in their world as I could at that time resulting in far better energy!

We are now back home, feeling far calmer and finding it easier to deal with the uncertain situation we are all working through at this time.

Sometimes our dogs have to negotiate difficult situations in life, not knowing what is really happening, but by creating a bit of certainty for them at these time can be just the thing they need to make it that little bit easier!

Even the happiest dog in the world is cheesed off with this heat now! 🥵

It is a standing joke in our house that Eddie is the happiest dog in the world. His tail is ALWAYS wagging with happiness no matter what life throws at him! But the heat this week is making even him, a little on the grouchy side!

Most of us are aware at least the basics of how the heat can affect our dogs physically, but are you aware of the behavioural changes the heat can contribute to?

Most of our dogs are use to a very similar routine everyday. But when the hot weather arrives that routine generally changes causing our dogs to loose the certainty that is created from their daily routine causing our dogs to naturally be more anxious than normal.

That paired with not getting the level of physical exercise they usually do, not getting as much sleep as usual and feeling a little uncomfortable in their own skin because of the heat our dogs can sometimes show uncharacteristic behaviours that we wouldnt usually see!

So lets be mindful of this and give our dogs the space and consideration on these hot days because remember they are wearing the same coat in the heat that keeps the warm in the cold!

With a scorching day of up to 28 degrees ahead of us here in Nottinghamshire, and a very untimely diagnosis of bronchitis for me making a early morning walk out of the question 😔, our lot started their day with some calm mental stimulation using their snuffle balls.

We would love to hear and see how you are exercising your dogs both mentally and physically in this hot weather.

Are you guilty of this?😦

13/07/2024

Dog training can be challenging at times! 🥴

And even with the best will and intentions, motivation can be lost, and training can come to a grinding holt! 🫷

But can identify why this happens?

Is it because.... (Put the corresponding number in the comments)

1. You aren't seeing quick enough progress?

2. You are finding it boring?

3. Your dog isn't focused?

4. You don't properly understand what it is you are doing?

5. You done have time?

6. Something else? (State what in the comments)

📣 IMPORTANT INFORMATION
(Watch till the end)

10/07/2024

Did you know that there is one mistake I see dog owners make more commonly than any other when training their dogs!

It is the most simple thing and just by noticing you are making this mistake could be the difference between you succeeding or not!

I'm talking about telling your dog it is doing exactly what you want it to do.

We are very all quick to let our dogs know when it's performing a behaviour we don't like, but yet for some reason we don't seem to tell them when they are performing a behaviour that we do like.

By just using some calm praise, this can encourage our dog to perform these behaviours again and again. And because dogs are more of what they practise, by doing this it will begin to make this our dogs chosen "go to behaviour!"

Are you making this mistake? 🤔

Everyone meet Lenny, Honey, Minnie and puppy Peggy!

I had the pleasure of working with this gorgeous pack on Saturday, to help teach them the skill of emptying their emotional bucket so it doesn't spill over resulting in behaviours such as excessive barking, over excitement and displaced (redirected) aggression.

By giving them these skills they will become more relaxed, less anxious and able to cope with a busy household and outside stimuli without it pushing them over threshold.

Could These two be anymore chilled out! ☺️

But how did I achieve this level of calmness in a dog that suffers with hypastimulation and hyperactivity and another that is in full blown adolescence and feeds off of her brother's anxious, overexcitable energy? AND we also currently have an event runny at our house as I write this post!

If your first answer was that they had just gotten back from a walk in the beautiful Nottinghamshire countryside, then you would be wrong! I literally could not walk for long enough to get this level of calmness from these two from physical exercise alone!

Infact it is 21 degrees outside, so my dogs have not yet been walked today!
😎

But what they have had is 20 minutes of mental exercise using a technique where they had to engage their seeking mechanism! 👃

20 minutes of mental engagement, can achieve the same level of calmness as a 2 hour walk. And by encouraging our dogs to engage their seeking mechanism, this also helps them to ease anxiety levels and become more comfortable in the world they live in!

The exercise I used this morning was 1 of the 10 available to you in my Train Their Brain In 10 Ways Experience. So many people have already bought this super easy to use program and are getting great results.

THEY REALLY DO WORK!

For just £10 (that's about the same price as 2 coffees) you too could unlock the secrets to calmer less anxious dogs!

If I was to ask what it is I do for a living, what would your answer be?

29/06/2024

"How do you keep your dogs basic commands so sharp?"

28/06/2024

If there was an opportunity to attend an intensive training day with your dog(s), where there would be not only hands on training sessions, but also the chance to learn WHY your dog shows certain behaviours and what it is they are actually telling us by doing so, would this be something you would be interested in?

Please comment YES, NO l, or WOULD BE INTERESTED IN HEARING MORE ABOUT IT.

Building engagement is vital when it comes to training your dog!

It is your dog's way of acknowledging you. It is them saying I hear you and I am ready to listen to what it is your asking of me.

Without it, you might as well just be talking to a brick wall! 🫤

But what have I told you, even though it's possibly the most important thing to teach your dog, it is also the easiest!

There is a technique that you can use that takes no time out of your day, costs you no money, but gets you great results.

It's called CAPTURING!

It's simple. Every time your dog looks at you, you reinforce it!
That can be with praise, a treat or their favourite toy.

We are literally capturing that behaviour in that moment and telling them, YES this is what we want you to do.

By consistently using this technique, you will see your dog's engagement with you grow into a behaviour they naturally want to do more and more.

With a technique this simple why wouldn't you give it a go? 🤔

Who is going to try this one?

Hand feeding is one of the most powerful exercises you can do with your dog, and one I encourage all dog owners to utilise.

Your dog's daily food allowance is like a little pot of gold, and the value of this is off the scale high!

This is because our dogs generally don't need us for anything other than food!

They can go get a drink when they need to because there is always a water bowl available to them. They can make their own entertainment, and they can literally sleep where they fall!

But unless we put their food down for them they can't get that, which makes their food valuable and as it is controlled by us it makes us super high value too! 🙂

By using one simple exercise (hand feeding), we can help grow;
🟠 Engagement
🟠 Calmness
🟠 Impulse control
🟠 Basic obedience
🟠 Good manners
And much much more!

We literally use our dogs everyday needs (feeding times) to train their brains.

This is just one of the many simple but very effective exercises shown and explained in my Train Their brain In 10 Ways Experience.

Many people have already purchased this and are seeing amazing results!
It is still available at the ridiculously low price of just £10 and you can get it by clicking the link in the comments 👇

So with all these benefits in just one of these exercises, imagine what you could achieve if you knew what all 10 were?
What you waiting for?

Everyone meet the gorgeous Buddy! 😁

Yesterday I had the pleasure of working with this super cute boy. He is a 6 month old Zuchon or Shichon (Bichon Frise x Shih Tzu).

Buddy was showing some behaviours that were not quite as cute as he is 😂 and was making some everyday tasks a little more challenging for his owner than they should have been. 🙈

After being with Buddy for a short time, it became clear to me that he wasn't being "naughty", he just didn't understand what it was that was being asked of him and the same as if he was a small child because he didn't understand what we was asking him to do he did his own thing that gave him the best reward.

You see, dogs.will always do what gives them their highest reward. Whether that be a treat, a pet, a toy or keeping scary things far enough away from them.

By keeping this in mind, we can use this knowledge, along with communicating to them in a language they understand, to reshape behaviours we don't want them to perform into ones that we do! 🙂

We simply have to speak dog! 🗣️🐕

If you need help communicating to your dog clearly what it is you want them to do, DM me and let's have a chat about how I can help you achieve this. 😁

Today is our gorgeous Bentley Boys (yes that is his real name 😆) 10th Birthday. 🥳🎉🎊

He may be getting demanding in his old age, stubborn and sometimes noisy, but if carlsberg made dogs, it would definitely be Bentley Boys face on the tin. 😊

Happy birthday special boy 😍
