🍌 Calming Peanut Butter, Banana & Oat Dog Treats

Bananas contain tryptophan, an amino acid that helps produce serotonin, a natural neurotransmitter that can contribute to reduced stress and anxiety, making banana-based treats a gentle, natural way to help them feel more at ease. Perfect for training, post-walk wind-downs, or just when your pup needs a little chill.

Ingredients:
🥣 85g oats
🍌 1 medium banana
🥜 65g (100% peanut) peanut butter

How to Make:
1️⃣ Preheat oven to 150°C
2️⃣ Line a tray with baking paper
3️⃣ Blitz oats in a blender, add to bowl
4️⃣ Blend the banana and add it to the bowl
5️⃣ Add peanut butter
6️⃣ Mix with a dough hook until a dough forms
7️⃣ Flour your surface, roll out the dough
8️⃣ Cut into bite-size pieces
9️⃣ Place on tray & bake for 15 mins

Let cool before serving—and yes, they smell good enough you might want one too 😉

🐾 “Socialisation” is one of the most misunderstood words in dog training.

So, what does it actually mean?

It’s not about letting your dog interact with every person or dog they see.

In fact, it’s kind of the opposite.

Real socialisation is about teaching your dog to stay calm, build confidence, and disengage from distractions like people, dogs, and chaotic environments.

✅ We’re reinforcing calm behaviour.
✅ We’re helping them feel safe and in control.
✅ We’re preventing overexcitement, anxiety, and fear.

Yesterday was both and haircut day in the Ed's Dog house! 🛁

As you can see Eddie wasn't too keen on this idea and did his usual "if I can't see you, you can't see me" to try and avoid his turn. 😂

What funny behaviours do your dogs have?

We would love to hear about them or even better see photo's. 😃

(I think you will agree Eddie looks adorable with his fresh new look 😁)

3 Training Mistakes That Slow Your Dogs Progress

Are you struggling to see results with your dog’s training?

You are not alone! These three common mistakes may be holding you both back:

1️⃣ Inconsistency- One day it’s “off the sofa”, the next it’s cuddle time. Mixed signals = confused dog.

2️⃣ Overusing commands- Repeating “sit” teaches them to tune out!

3️⃣ Training when you are frustrated- Your dog senses your energy. If you are tense, they will shut down.

The good news? These are easy to fix, and you can start today!

We spent just 90 minutes working together, and the very next day, Emma was seeing changes in her pup already!

"Emma came to us for a 90-minute session to help with our nearly 6-month-old puppy. From the second she arrived, she was amazing with us and Buddy. She really does SPEAK DOG and understands them so well and could not have been more helpful to us all in managing him going forward. The day after we are seeing changes already! THANK YOU EMMA x"

Like Emma and many of my satisfied dog clients, they contacted me to describe their experiences and booked a FREE consultation call with me so I could understand and make improvement suggestions.

🐾 Why Your Dog Pulls on Their Lead and How to Stop It in 3 Simple Steps 🐕‍🦺

Does your daily walk feel more like a tug-of-war match?

You’re not alone! Pulling on the lead is one of the most common struggles dog owners face, and the good news is, it’s fixable.

Here’s why it happens:
👉 Dogs naturally walk faster than we do.
👉 They’re excited, overstimulated, or undertrained.
👉 Most importantly, pulling works. If it gets them where they want to go, they’ll keep doing it!

Let’s change that with 3 simple steps:

✅ Step 1: Stop Reinforcing the Pull
Every time your dog pulls and you follow, they’re learning that pulling = progress. Instead, stop walking the moment the lead tightens. Stand still or gently turn around.

✅ Step 2: Reward the Calm
As soon as your dog returns to your side or the lead slackens, praise and reward them. Treats, a calm voice, or even continuing the walk can be the reward!

✅ Step 3: Practice Short & Sweet
Start in a low-distraction area like your garden or driveway. Focus on short, successful sessions. Progress slowly to more exciting environments.

Remember: Lead walking is a skill, not instinct. With patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement, your dog can learn to walk calmly beside you.
