In the Coddington area of Newark with Spaniel Sky and Susan. When I started working with them Sky spent much of her time on the lead as there was little engagement and her recall was unreliable. With patience , consistency and training things are much improved and walks and being leash free are now fun , attainable and can be enjoyed by both.
Cocker spaniels Milo and Cookie are only 8 months old and are in their second home. They came to Trainrite for a short stay to build their understanding of loose lead walking and improve engagement. Keeping it rewarding and fun has certainly helped them improve whilst retaining their personality and character.

Trusting your dog on a blind retrieve into thick cover so disappearing from sight , she then after a short while and under the watchful eye of Rachel reappears with the chosen retrieve and delivering to hand of the trusting Rachel.
Having spent time building upon the basic understanding of the exercise it was time to introduce 8 month old Labrador Willow to retrieving cold game to hand in a more natural environment.
A short session in the sun with Spaniel Sky. On and off lead whilst maintaining engagement.
Really pleased with the progress Spaniel Sky has made after a short stay at Trainrite. Engagement , focus to task has improved and her loose lead walking and recall are improving but are at a basic level so remain a work in progress. I have really enjoyed working with Sky as she is so eager to please and gives so much of herself when correctly asked. See you soon Sky for our next session.
Great morning training in the sunshine at Trainrite as Rachel and her labradors Callie and Gemma carry out a individual back retrieve whilst the other one awaits its instruction.
Ireana and her young Cockerpoo Marlow came for a 1-2-1 at Trainrite because of constant tension on the lead and a total lack of engagement. By improving our line of communication and having a more balanced approach things quickly improved for all.
Bear came for a short residential at Trainrite due to his constant straining on the lead and total lack of engagement. With his owners expecting the birth of their first child, it was important to create a line of positive communication and improve his focus so reducing the need for a tight lead. A big well done to Bear and I look forward to seeing you again , with your new baby on a comfortable and enjoyable walk.
Foundations are so important but people often fail their dogs by refusing to go back to their foundation training period in order to consolidate their dogs understanding of what is required. Today Rachel and her Labrador Gemma re visited a blind right and back retrieve. As Gemma had started to anticipate the leave on return we encouraged her to hold the dummy longer.
I first met Jude and her lovely Cavapoo Blossom when they attended puppy class at Trainrite so it was fantastic when I visited them at Branston , Lincolnshire to help with a few things around the home and surrounding countryside. We worked on focus and consistency and reshaping a course of things before they became a problem. A great catch up and to see a happy puppy.
