Unfortunately my oldest male Pietro passed away yesterday (pic at 6weeks old) he was a ripe old age of 34 months just 2 months short of being 3.

If you’re looking for a great Christmas present as well as being informative then check out this. I haven’t got a copy yet but there have been great reviews. I am no way affiliated with Azuline Rattery just passing it on as decent educational books about rat care are hard to find.

I was thinking about who this book is for, and I genuinely think it will be useful to most pet rat owners no matter where you are in your journey. Yes, a lot of the information will be brand new if you're just thinking about getting pet rats, but even if you have lots of experience, I think there's a lot that will still be useful in the chapters on common health issues and how to treat them, surgery and euthanasia and even how to make the decision to give up owning rats altogether.

One of the conversations I had to have when I was editing this book is to think about the people who don't like me/my articles as a blanket attitude and which sections in my book I needed to "tone down" to avoid them using it to discredit the whole book. It's a sad, but necessary consideration and ultimately I think it's made the book better!

The tiniest member of the rattery. Blue Roo was the only member of his litter so this little Russian Blue Agouti will be staying.

Sadly I’ve lost another old man, Baldar he was 2yrs 9mths. He was left with a head tilt from a young age following an ear infection but this gave him such an unique character. 😥🌈

I’ve normally had dark rats from my Agouti, Black and Russian lines. But now these Topaz and Platinum babies are growing on me. 🐀🐁 I’ll definitely be exploring these lines in the future

Sadly I went to feed the rats this evening and Mr Jingles my oldest rat (the black one) has passed. He was just 9 days short of his 3rd birthday 😢 🌈 many of my pet homes will recognise his name from your birth certificates. I was lucky enough to be able to show people, even from this last litter 3 generations of males.
