When an animal is post-op or on strict rest, the road to recovery can feel overwhelming. You're confining them to a small area, constantly watching to make sure they don’t undo the progress by jumping, twisting, or even just doing too much too soon. Every sound makes you worry they've re-injured themselves. 😓

It's not just about exercises and treatment sessions — it's managing their energy, their frustration, and sometimes even your own. The guilt when they look at you, wanting to go back to normal, is real.

Rehab takes time. Patience. And a lot of love.

So if you’re in the thick of it right now — you’re not alone. You're doing an amazing job, even when it feels like a 24/7 responsibility. ❤️

Did you know that just 20 minutes of sniffing can provide your dog with as much mental stimulation as an hour-long walk? Allowing your dog to stop and explore scents during a walk is not only enriching—it’s essential for their well-being. So instead of focusing on covering long distances every time, encourage your pup to stop and “sniff the roses.”
If recall is a concern, consider using a harness and a long line, so your dog has the freedom to safely roam and sniff at their own pace. And if you want extra support, check out our recall workshops for guidance on making walks safe and enjoyable for both you and your dog.

These amazing Pups all successfully graduated their training class and how proud do they look?

It was a class full of mixed abilities (and no I don't mean the hoomans 🙂) they each excelled in different exercises, learned in different ways and, at different speeds but with the 'Kind, Fair and Effective' training method's APDT they all passed with flying colours.

Congratulations to them all and the hoomans who made it a pleasure to teach the classes 🙂

Out next class starts on 8th May 6pm @ Chieveley Village Hall with limited spaces available, if you would like to join in, please get in touch.

In the spotlight this week we have Master B 🐾
Handsome Master B. is in training for his lack of manners when it comes to going through doors and gates, so practice started with a baby gate, progressing to a barn door then the ultimate test of impulse control...... the gates at Snelsmore Common.

With persistence and plenty of practice, Mr B was set up to succeed 😀
