It’s just over 2 weeks until our July market.

At this months market we have Guide Dogs West Berkshire Fundraising Group running our tea room, serving the usual hot drinks and cakes - which fits well as it’s our Fun Dog Show - don’t forget to sign up either in advance (email us at [email protected]) or on the day (at least 15 minutes before your category starts).
The dog show is being judged by our sponsors Kingsclere Vets and should be a lot of fun.
The brunch bar will be serving your hot sausage and bacon rolls, with a choice of cheese, onions, sauces and wholemeal or white rolls.

Plus don’t forget we have over 50 stalls for you to browse, supporting small and local businesses and all this in the name of charity.

We are judging the Woolton Hill And Highclere Village Market dog show on the 27th July. We’d love to see some familiar faces there! 🐶🐕🐾

Please entitle your email 'DOG SHOW', give us your name, the name of your dog and which category you're entering.

From the 10th of June it will be a legal requirement for all cats over 20 weeks of age to be microchipped and registered on a database 🐱

Happy three months to us! Here’s a photo of the Kingsclere team all together enjoying some Easter treats from last week 🐣 🪺 We’ve had a wonderful first few months, thank you to everyone who has come to see us with their lovely pets! We’re still pinching ourselves about how lucky we are to be part of such a great village with such a strong sense of community! 😍

Huge thank you to all our wonderful clients for their continued support and kind words.

Pants (who has a sibling called Socks!) came in to spend the day with us to be neutered. Swipe to see a cute video of Pants at home the next morning and a sweet photo of him snuggled up in our cattery.

The vision for Kingsclere Vets has always been to offer a very personal service, taking the time to ensure every pet and pet-owner receives the time and attention they deserve.

As pet owners ourselves, we understand how stressful leaving your animal with people they don’t know can be. We always treat every animal how we would want our own to be treated, giving them reassurance and making sure they don’t feel alone. We send photo updates to keep you in the loop throughout their stay, and always give them an extra snuggle 🤎

We are delighted to share that we are a Gold status Cat Friendly Clinic. This is the highest available accreditation from the ISFM (International society of Feline Medicine). We are the only first opinion practice in the Basingstoke and Newbury area to receive the Gold accreditation, and one of very few in Hampshire. We have worked hard to ensure our practice meets the highest standards of feline friendly care possible.

Following on from the news of the CMA report into the Veterinary Industry yesterday, we thought we would take this opportunity to celebrate being an independently owned veterinary practice.

Laura Knapp set out to open a place where she could carry out her vocation as a vet, without any restrictions on policy or buying power. She firmly believes in providing a personalised, fair and dedicated veterinary service round the clock. She has surrounded herself with a fantastic, like minded team, and we have loved every minute of our first 9 weeks looking after you.

We are proud to announce we are an accredited Dog Friendly Clinic! This initiative is run by the Dogs Trust and the British Veterinary Behaviour Association (BVNA). 🏆

It recognises that we provide the most comfortable veterinary care experience possible for all our canine patients.

What does it mean to be a Dog Friendly Clinic?

🐾 All of our staff members are trained in recognising signs of stress/anxiety in our patients and are confident in addressing them early to improve their welfare during their time at the practice.
🐾 We have large consult rooms with adjustable layouts and longer consultation times. This lets dogs investigate the room and allows us to build trust with our patients.
🐾 Personalised hospitalisation plans and questionnaires to ensure patients that stay with us are as comfortable as possible, we also encourage bringing familiar items from home.
🐾 Multiple options available for waiting prior to your appointment (a buzzer system to wait outside or in your car, private waiting room away from other patients, and our dog-only waiting area in reception).
🐾 Calm and homely dog ward with dimmable lighting, fully temperature controlled room, glass kennel doors (no noisy metal bars), orthopaedic mattresses for all patients and spacious walk-in kennels with plenty of toys, blankets and enrichment feeding options available.
🐾 We are committed to keeping our canine behaviour knowledge up-to-date so that our patients are always given the best possible care.

Here is 9-year-old Barley (who has never needed a dental!) and 1-year-old Winnie! Both of these lovely Labradors have been trained to enjoy their teeth brushing routines, we know this isn’t the case for all of our patients (cats and dogs!) so here are some alternatives when teeth brushing isn’t an option:

🦷 Dental chews - vegetable based versions are a great low-calorie choice!
🦷 Mouth washes or water additives - these work by inhibiting plaque forming bacteria.
🦷 Dental diets - scientifically designed to reduce plaque and tartar formation via manual exfoliation of tooth surfaces.
🦷 Food supplements or toppers - usually in powder form and are designed to soften tartar.

Unfortunately, a deceased cat has been bought into us by a member of the public yesterday evening - found in Headley. He is neutered, but sadly not microchipped and with no collar. He is white and tabby, we have estimated him to be a young adult.

Hello! 👋🏼

We are 8 weeks into our estimated 18 week build here at Kingsclere Vets, and lots of exciting progress has been made! Over the coming days, we will be sharing and focusing on different parts of our project to give you a snapshot of what’s to come.

We will be visiting Kingsclere Church Fete tomorrow wearing some Kingsclere Vets tops- if you see us please come and say hi- we’d love to meet you and your doggos! 🐾
