Consistency is key in dog training. Remember, patience and positive reinforcement go a long way in helping your dog learn new behaviors. Celebrate small successes and keep training sessions short and fun!

To encourage people to book a session with you, you can highlight the benefits they and their dogs will receive from your training, offer a call to action, and perhaps include a special offer. Here’s a revised post with those elements:

**Pawsitive Thoughts 🐾: The Monday Edition**

Hey! 🌟

Have you ever looked at your dog and thought, "Wow, you really understand me"? And then they immediately start licking the couch? 😅 Training is a journey, and every slip-up is just another step toward success (or in Fido’s case, another step toward a suspiciously sticky couch).

This week, let’s celebrate the little wins! Did your pup finally sit on command? Or maybe just not run off with your sock for the first time ever? That's pawsome progress!

Remember, patience is key, treats are golden, and belly rubs are mandatory. Keep those tails wagging and those paws learning!

Wags and wiggles,

Alex

A good fitting harness is my recommendation.

A good fitting harness is my recommendation.

A dogs neck is a very delicate part of their body!

The neck and cervical spine contain the spinal cord, this is where the nerves of the front legs originate. Excessive paw licking is quite often misdiagnosed as allergies when it is in fact pain.

Putting stress on the neck can cause painful disc damage and shoulder problems

A dog has the same number of vertebrae as a giraffe (think about that before choking a dog)

One of the most important structures of the nervous system "The Vagus Nerve" originates at neck level and this controls life essential organs like lung, heart, stomach, and intestinal tract.

The Thyroid gland is located in the neck. If this gets inflamed the immune system trys to remove the inflamed cells.
The destruction of the Thyroid gland cells can lead to hypothyroidism

Increased pressure put on the Jugular vein can cause seizures
Ear and Eye issues are significantly increased

Being je**ed on a lead causes whiplash and bruising.

The epidermis of a dog is only 3-5 cells thick
A humans is 10-15 cells thick

So WHY would anyone want to use a noose ....sorry I mean a slip lead?

A well fitted Y shaped harness is the safest and kindest peice of equipment to use.

Long lines. Let’s talk. Why do I use a long line on my dog? I’m a trainer, surely my dog is perfect? Well no. He’s not perfect. First of all he’s a rescue, secondly he’s a lurcher, thirdly this is an unknown place.
Although his recall is fairly good, I still have to have eyes in the back of his head as his eyesight is better than mine. He will chase the squirrels and rabbits and birds, that was what his breed is meant to do. I donot know what might pop up out of nowhere and cause him to run. There is no way I’m going to catch up with him, but that long line gives me a chance as it trails behind. It also means that if someone else picks him up they have the option of not getting too close to him. (Although he would probably just jump all over them!) he’s not run off yet, but you never know…. Long line keeps him safe. Attached to his harness, causes him no issues. If you are going to trail a long line behind your dog, make sure theres no handle to snag on tree stumps and the like. Ones with handles on are for a different type of activity.

We are all different. And so are they! Not everyone wants to run and play!

As all of those who follow the southend trainers page jump on to my page to give me abuse, it's worth pointing out that the ONLY reason my video went viral is because hundreds of qualified educated competent dog trainers agreed with me and wanted their dog owning followers to be aware of the potential damage you can cause to your sticking your puppy in a crate and letting them cry it out.
If you are a fan of his, and jumping on my page because he has 'rallied the troops' my only message is that we have all been in a position that we strongly believed x was true, only to later in life realise that maybe you were mislead.

I am going to make my Understanding Pet Dogs course free for the next 48 hours for those who are open to learning more about training without using pain, fear or intimidation.
Just go to free courses available for those who are willing to educate themselves, just input the code knowbetterdobetter at check out.

Is this you? We can help

🐕 Four in five (82%) ‘pandemic puppy’ owners have reported using aversive training methods in attempts to address their dog’s problem behaviours, according to a new study by the RVC.

However, this rise in negative reinforcement/positive punishment (e.g., owners shouting at their dog or using training equipment that is unpleasant for dogs, rather than using reward-based methods such as praise and treats) not only negatively impacts animal welfare, but is often poorly effective, and in some cases, can even result in new problem behaviours in dogs due to the fear and anxiety it can cause.

For those owners feeling sad about having to muzzle your dog, remember you’re saving their life. We know your dog probably wont be savage, and hiding that goofy grin isn’t what you wanted to do, but thank you for standing by your dog and not abandoning them.
Just a reminder that your dog has to wear their muzzle in the car too.
