I have been working with this gorgeous Ridgeback. She is uncomfortable around people and dogs.

This was our second session and we got the most lovely little tail wag. She is starting to see me as a safe person to be around. Some other people that have tried to work with her haven't understood ridgebacks and she found them really uncomfortable and never warmed to them. So this absolutely fills my heart with joy ❤️

Which is huge. It made me so happy. ❤️❤️

no two dogs are the same, but they quite commonly have similar challenges. That's because owner are usually bothered by the same things, aggression, doesn't listen, distracted easily, causing owners stress Each dog should be thought as an individual. It will have a different combination of genetics, experiences, upbringing. it doesn't mean because you have been to a few reward based trainers and it hasn't worked then that dog is so unique and has no emotions that only punishment will work. it doesn't mean you can be a dick to your dog by cutting off it's air supply by using a slip lead, or sticking a orong collar or e collar on the dog. in the main it's just either laziness on owners side, not willing to change from owner, using really sh*t reward based trainers that don't really have a good understanding of dogs but just learnt some stuff online, or not following good advice from excellent reward based trainers by the letter. #ridgeback #puppylove #online #coaching #dog #barkingmaddogtraining #rhodesianridgeback #rewardbasedtraining

Gaia likes to find things like plastic bottles, bits of plastic, a bit of rubbish basically to carry on her walks. The reason for this is to help any big emotions she maybe having. This can massively help her regulate and prevent behaviours such as jumping at me, biting my arms, grabbing the lead. I hear about these behaviours becoming a huge issue for people. (I can help you) But sometimes she will pick up things that I would rather she didn't. Things that could hurt her. In this case a tin. I ask her to leave that one. In the video it looks like there is no training involved. In fact there is far more training before so that it becomes flowing like this. I don't have to say it firmly to her, I don't have to bark the word leave it at her, but this behaviour has been cued by what I have just said to her in the video 😊 #barkingmaddogtraining #rhodesianridgeback #dogtraining #newcastledogtrainer #dogs #puppy #ridgebackofinsta #ridgeback
