⚠️ Attention to all owners of Doodles, Cockerpoos, Cavachons, Cavapoos, Schnoodles etc .... ⚠️
It is worrying me that a lot of ‘breeders’ people purchase these types of puppies from recently have been informing owners that these puppies should not be groomed until at least 6 months of age or older .... THIS IS NOT TRUE!!
Any puppy that will need regular grooming (all of these crossbreed dogs mentioned above will and anything mixed with a poodle will!) should be introduced to grooming from day 1! At the very least; from the moment you bring your puppy home you should be introducing them to a bath, hairdryer, how to be handled, brushed & combed on a weekly/fortnightly basis.
This will set your puppy up for life and insure they don’t get stressed or nervous when they go for a professional groom! Grooming will (should) be a major part of these crossbreeds’ lives.
A puppy can visit a Grooming salon once they have had all their vaccinations. They can go for a bath, brush through & tidy and get used to the environment and sounds.
They should visit regularly to keep their coat in the best condition, as well as the owner maintaining it at home.
Mobile Grooming can be arranged as soon as you bring your pup home - no vaccinations required!
By waiting until your puppy is 6, 7, 8 months or older is a disaster. By this time the majority are not used to being handled, and get very stressed at the new environment & Grooming process. Their coats are usually matted and the groomer usually has to shave them short - a uncomfortable experience for them and normally a traumatic one for the owner!
So for the sake of the emotional, physical & psychological wellbeing of you and your crossbreed puppy - don’t wait - please get them booked into a groomer ASAP!!
