Does your doggo go crazy when they see that familiar round object? Ever wondered why our doggo's can’t take their eye off the ball at play time? (no pun intended!).
Well, it’s all to do with instinctual retrieval and prey drive and dogs have an innate instinct to do this.
Their ancestors possessed skills in hunting and they have passed this down through generations. With their round shape and ability to roll and bounce, balls trigger a doggo's prey drive.
There are two things a dog is fascinated about. One is to make their owners proud, and another is to feel accomplished. Playing with balls and fetching them establishes both of these thoughts in the dogs' brains.
It’s also good for the bonding and love that happens between a doggo and it’s pawrent.
