Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month 🩵

Veterinary nursing is a skilled job and we actually do several jobs in one!
We are a team of 5 nurses and 1 student nurse 👩🏼‍⚕️
Caitlin (who is currently on maternity leave🩷)
Caitlin
Stacey
Lucy
Marie
Beth (student nurse)

We are not just nurses💕 we are also:

🩺 Anaesthetists. 🩺
When your pet has a procedure, our veterinary nurses monitor the anaesthetic and sedations. They monitor the depth of anaesthesia, heart rate, respiratory rate, temperature, CO2 levels, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, and more!
🩸 Phlebotomists 🩸
We take blood samples for a**lysis. This isn’t always easy on the wriggly patients but we try our best to keep this as stress free as possible.
👩🏼‍⚕️ Clinic nurse👩🏼‍⚕️
We do a variety of nurse clinics including post operative checks, nail clippings, a**l gland expression, weight checks, arthritis management clinics🐾
🐶 Kennel nurse 🐱
We recover your pets after their surgery and look after them when they are hospitalised for illness. This includes administering medication, providing intravenous fluid therapy and nursing them back to full health!

This is just a snippet of what we do day to day and we squeeze in as many cuddles as we can between this! 🐾❤️

🐾 A message from Tiggers owner:

Tigger has been missing for 2 weeks. There have been no sightings of Tigger despite so many people in Newhaven looking for him.

Although many people tell me how resilient cats are, I am extremely concerned about him. Often when cats go missing they become trapped in sheds and garages. If you are reading this post and live in Newhaven, please check your sheds and garages. Alternatively Tigger might have found someone who is caring for him. If that is the case please let me know he is safe and I will come and collect him.

Tigger is a much loved family pet who has recently had major surgery. We all miss him dreadfully and hope that he will return home soon.

Please all keep an eye out for him and contact us if you see him or have any information ❤️

A lot of our clients may know Beth who has been one of our Pet Care Assistants for the last few years. Im sure most of you will recognise her as she often makes an appearance in Reception to give all of the animals a fuss! 🐾

We are very pleased to say she has received her RCVS registration as a Student Veterinary Nurse meaning she can provide basic nursing care, assist with various clinical procedures, and learn essential skills under direct supervision of our Registered Vets & Nurses . This includes preparing animals for procedures, administering medications, monitoring patients, and assisting with surgical tasks.

Beth will be working closely along side her clinical coaches Caitlin & Lucy and the rest of the team over the next 3 years to become a Registered Veterinary Nurse!

We know Beth is going to be great at this ❤️

We have a client who's cat has escaped its carrier upon leaving our vet practice. He got out of the carrier as the owner was walking into the Dacre Road multi-story car park. Please could people keep an eye out in the area for him. He is a tabby, only has one eye and is wearing a red do not feed me collar. He is microchipped. Please call us if you spot him or are able to bring him in to the practice.

Thank you
