Good morning, yesterday we had a visit from our Symply/Canagan rep and he showed us a lovely new range of Cat Soups ❤ Now, our own elderly Deilah cat is not well at the moment and with her being a staunch advocate of soupy foods, and being unable to get hold of any soups, I decided to buy some for her. After reading the ingredients I decided to also bring the 3 flavours into the shop 🙂 Delilah tried a sample tin last night and polished it off quick sharp, she's 15, not very well, and sees her vet every 4 weeks atm for meds, so to yam down a whole tin was like a small miracle for her. These lovely soups will hit our shelves today, I am impressed, I hope you lovely lot will like them too ❤ ....... In other news, for the Customers that have ordered 12k sacks of Canagan, your food will be in some time today

Friendly reminder: **Avoid feeding hedgehogs bread and milk!**

These items can wreak havoc on their delicate digestive systems and could be harmful, especially to weakened hedgehogs. 🦔

Wondering when to lend a helping hand to a hedgehog in need? Here are some signs it might be time to step in:

🌞 Out during daylight hours
🍼 Too small to hibernate (check for size)
🕷 Covered in a significant number of ticks

If you spot any of these signs, it's time to consider reaching out to us or other hedgehog rescues for help and advice 📞

EASTER OPENING 🐥🐣

Good Morning, as Easter falls on the monthly payday this year, we will be open on Good Friday and Easter Saturday as normal from 9am - 4pm we will be CLOSED on Easter Monday (because we always close on Mondays anyway 😉 ). No panic for those of you that need your end of the month orders or want to pop in for your regular shop ....... we will be here 😃 No doubt full of chocolate and Spring chirpiness 🥰🤩

Did you know that we are approaching our 5th Birthday on your lovely High Street? Yes it's been 5 years in April since we arrived 🥳 Our Sister shop Prime Pet Supplies in Wolverton has been operating for over 35 years (:O 35 years) starting off in the Agora, moving to Church Street 12 years ago and finally moving again and settling into our much bigger, forever home at 56 Church Street 4 years ago. Yep, we've been around for a while ;)

Also, did you know that we have a fresh delivery EVERY WEEK of LIVE REPTILE FOOD? We also have a good stock of frozen reptile food. Crickets and locusts etc, must be ordered as we buy fresh every week and don't hold spare stock. XL BULLY'S ...... OUR POSITION ❤
We have lots of different dog breeds visiting us, we have had everything from the tiniest Chihuahua to a beautiful Wolf dog, with every variation of canine in between, we have had snakes, chickens, cats, pet rats, stick insects, spiders, you name it, they have visited us ....... including XL BULLY's, all have been made welcome, been fussed, given treats and been treated with love, care and respect. THIS WILL NOT CHANGE AS WE STROLL INTO 2024 with the new rules that have come into force today. We have some amazing, responsible XL Bully owners that have been customers for many years, they have completed all of the requirements asked of them to keep their dogs safe. They have bought muzzles and trained their dog to wear them, they have neutered and registered them as they have been required to do. TO ALL OF YOU, your dogs are still as welcome as any other breed in our businesses as they always have been ❤

We have always been a business that has prided itself on being completely inclusive and non discriminatory towards all our customers, whether they be 2 legged or 4. We have not, and never will, discriminate against anyone on the grounds of s*x, race, gender, religion, thoughts or beliefs and we have now added another to the list, which is BREED.

We want our shop to be a place where they can feel safe and enjoy visiting, choose treats, mooch about and partake in the odd bit of biscuit pilfering.

So, whether your doggo is a tiny little button of a baby pug, or a whopping great spitty, hairy bully, they will be welcomed as they always have been ❤ Don't worry we are quite adept at feeding treats through muzzles (also lots of our muzzled customers can still pilfer from the ''pick and nix'' boxes too) ❤ We have loads of our 4 legged customers (not Bully's), that already wear muzzles for many reasons other than it's the law, PLEASE remember ''Muzzles don't always mean nasty'' ❤ Be kind, these owners and dogs are going through a lot ❤

We are quite happy to see the back of 2023, it's been a tough one for everyone it seems :/ ......... BUT we are back tomorrow and the start of our big ''after Christmas re-stock'' begins, as does a whole fresh New Year ........ bring it on :D x

A LOOK BACK OVER 2023
Another year almost over! I'm not sure where to begin with this one! It's certainly been a challenging one, both for the business and in our personal lives too!
It kind of started early on, when having avoided the dreaded ''Rona'' for 3 years, all while working right through the pandemic, a hospital visit to my VERY poorly Dad, (who caught covid in there), put an end to our smug ''I haven't had it'' one liner! It was NOT a good start to the New Year! BUT, by working together we still managed to keep the shop open 😃
Our energy bill for the shop more than TREBLED 😮 it shot up from £75 per month to £240 per month 😕 at the same time as we saw price increase, after price increase on the stock we bought together with every single utility bill we have 😮 We also saw supply issues on many, many things, bird seed was badly affected as a lot of it is grown in Ukraine, chicken feed prices went through the roof, (ever wondered why there aren't so many eggs available when you go shopping?, my theory is that lots of egg producers have given up because the cost of the feed has made their business unsustainable!). Lots of big manufactures have changed the recipe of their foods to exclude more of the (now) expensive items in them, and lots of big name companies have changed hands, which in itself sees issues with lines being discontinued, re branded, changed all together and having, (in some cases), hefty price increases. As the final link in the chain (which is decidedly better than being the missing link 😉 ), from manufacturer to customer, it's been our job to help and guide our customers through these changes ❤ But, even though it's been tough at times, it certainly hasn't been all doom and gloom 🙂 YOUR little High Street Pet Shop has blossomed this year. The world has changed, the way we shop has changed, but the one thing that has remained constant through all the ''hurley burley'' is YOU, our amazing customers ❤ YOU have continued to support YOUR local pet shop, YOU have come in week after week to buy your pet food and accessories, YOU have shrugged your shoulders when we have had to tell you your product has increased in price and reassured us that you know it's not our fault ❤ YOU have helped us raise lots of funds for Animals In Need (even though finances for every household have been a challenge, YOU have still helped). YOU are the ones that have happily changed your dog's food on our advice because YOU have trusted us to do the best we can for you ❤ YOU are the ones that have brought your new puppies in to shop with us, YOU are the ones that turn to us for help when you're worried or you have lost a beloved companion. YOU are the ones that have made us smile. WE are here because of YOU and without YOU there wouldn't be an US 😃 ❤
Thank you, each and every one of you ❤ Thank you for everything you do, for every recommendation, for every share of a post, for every visit, for every time you tell someone about us, for every donation to help others. Our Story

Graham and I are starting on our latest adventure. Please pop across and like our new page. We will arrive on your High Street at the End of March/beginning of April. We want to give you the best experience possible, when it comes to shopping for your pet. Whether you need advice on feeding, a new collar, bed or just need a chat to help you overcome any little queries you may have. We stock reptile food (live and frozen) and our fresh live food comes in every Friday. We stock poultry food, small animal foods and a lovely range of wild bird, Swan & Duck, and hedgehog food. We pride ourselves on always stocking good quality products from reputable suppliers and NEVER, ever buy cheap products from China.
