Some lovely pics from Wednesday at the new forest show. Bindi wasn’t as calm as tinks which ment she looked more giraffe like than pony 🙈😂 but blossom was good girl considering her mum wasn’t. Both coming 4th in the line up. Tinks done a fabulous floaty trot placing her 4th too and pignut was far too calm and collected (which is very good for him! And we liked) but ended in him coming 5th. Judge said they’d both make great riding ponies and doing very well from their mums. It was our first ever big show and a lot to take back from it! We learn from these things and maybe a extra mare and foal in the over 133cm class next year! Will be needing 2 extra runners 😂 volunteers please 😂

We had the best support group over the last few days at the new forest show with the mares and foals. Will do a full report tomorrow but today is a post to say a massive thank you to people who i couldn’t do it without! Jen, Millie and Eloise Cavanna. Without all your support and help this week it wouldn’t have gone so smoothly! I love you all and thank you all ❤️❤️❤️❤️

SCANNING RESULTS ARE IN!! We are super excited with our scanning results this year …. Tinks, Bindi and RUBY are all confirmed in foal!! Tinks 30 plus days. Bindi and Ruby both 2 months plus. We all had a little cry (even the vet) when he said yes straight away! Let’s just hope she holds it full term this time 🤞🏾🤞🏾.

First show for the foals. Mares we’re brilliant as they haven’t been shown for a year or so and the babies were just great! This was our practice before so just wanted to see how they’d cope in the environment so wasn’t expecting any platings but to our surprise bindi came 4th and tinks came 5th out of 8! Lovely comments from the judge about mares and foals. And foals got their first rosettes too ❤️ thank you and Emily smith for helping me run them in the show. For our sponsors and for all your help and driving. For my mummy for just being you and helping me and everyone. And a thank you to all our supporters on the island and off the island ❤️❤️

Grazing … when at home the ponies and cows continue to graze together. We have a system that every 3-4 days we move the electric so they have a new grass compartment. These compartments are around 60x20 meters. We make sure we follow up with more electric to keep them off the bit they were just on. The first part of the video is them being let into their new compartment. Second part of the video is of how long the new grass is (around 8 inches plus!). Third part of the video is of the old compartment they have just moved from as you can see the grass is considerably shorter (around 3 inches). They have eaten a third, trampled a third and left a third. The last part of the video is side by side comparison of new and old. We do not poo pick and if we have any suspicion of worms we send a poo sample off to see if they have any and what they have, we do this on a regular basis too just to make sure, but because we are constantly moving them they are never pushed to eat around poo piles. They are in a 7 acre field so by the time they get back to the first bit of grass they were on it’ll be in 30 plus days. We try hard to look after our grass so the grass looks after our stock!
Introducing you to Mr Pringle a loan stallion from Jennifer Cavanna. we feel so privileged to be trusted with him for our girls ruby, tinks and bindi. Fingers crossed for some babysits next year! I will put a proper post up about him in the next few days 🥰
