325 days today! Bit of extra entertainment for the girls ❤️
Grazing … when at home the ponies and cows continue to graze together. We have a system that every 3-4 days we move the electric so they have a new grass compartment. These compartments are around 60x20 meters. We make sure we follow up with more electric to keep them off the bit they were just on. The first part of the video is them being let into their new compartment. Second part of the video is of how long the new grass is (around 8 inches plus!). Third part of the video is of the old compartment they have just moved from as you can see the grass is considerably shorter (around 3 inches). They have eaten a third, trampled a third and left a third. The last part of the video is side by side comparison of new and old. We do not poo pick and if we have any suspicion of worms we send a poo sample off to see if they have any and what they have, we do this on a regular basis too just to make sure, but because we are constantly moving them they are never pushed to eat around poo piles. They are in a 7 acre field so by the time they get back to the first bit of grass they were on it’ll be in 30 plus days. We try hard to look after our grass so the grass looks after our stock!
