We have been made aware there are some SCAM emails going around claiming to be from companies that hold pet’s microchip details and asking for money to update details and personal details. They are after your money and your data.

Make sure you contact the microchip company that your pet’s chip is registered with directly yourself via their official website or phone number whenever you need to update your contact details etc.

Pet owners are urged to be careful if asked to verify animals' microchip details.

Today we remember. “They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.” Laurence Binyon

The words have come to symbolise all casualties of war. We remember the people and the animals.

To all of our registered clients

Following on from our successful out of hours collaboration with the team at The Carisbrooke Vets over the past year we are excited to announce that the team at The People's Vet are joining this collaboration from 28th October.

Practices have traditionally cooperated to provide sustainable emergency care by sharing duty vets on a rota basis. This cooperation between practices is a way to improve sustainability long term for our clinical teams, who provide a 24/7, 365 day a year service to your pets.

If you have a veterinary emergency outside of our normal hours call our usual number 01983 896889 for advice on the best course of action for you pet.

If we are providing after hours care and you have agreed with the duty vet that your pet needs to be seen you will be seen at our Chapel Street Surgery.

If The Carisbrooke Vets are providing after hours care and you have agreed with the duty vet that your pet needs to be seen, you may be asked to travel to their clinic at: 107, Carisbrooke Rd, Newport PO30 1HP. There is parking available on site.

If The People's Vet are providing after hours care and you have agreed with the duty vet that your pet needs to be seen, you may be asked to travel to their clinic at: The Old Granary, Sandy Lane, Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 3EA parking is available.

Any patients admitted at The Carisbrooke Vets or The People's Vet outside of our normal hours will be transferred back to us for further treatment on the next working day if appropriate.

Payment will be made directly to the practice at which your pet is seen.

During the working day, we will continue to provide our normal service. Wight Vets remains a separate business to The People’s Vet and The Carisbrooke Vets and nothing else will change.

Full details can be found on our website at www.wightvets.com/services/emergencies/

Thank you for your understanding.

Please direct any queries to our email: [email protected]
Many thanks
The Wight Vets Team.

Hope you all have a super weekend.

We are delighted to share with you that we now offer Keyhole (Laparoscopic) neutering for female dogs. Often termed a “Lap spay” this procedure has a much quicker recovery time than a traditional spay. More information can be found on our website www.wightvets.com/lapspay or by contacting our friendly reception team.

Bold Poppies blooming in the practice garden- seems very appropriate timing for them to bloom just after the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. A moment to pause and remember all the people, and animals who served.

Worry not! 😊 We are open as usual on a (busy) Tuesday after the Bank Holiday weekend 😊. We’ve had a few concerned phone calls just now from people who have seen a post on social media about a Vet Practice shutting and were concerned. That post does NOT relate to Wight Vets in any way whatsoever so please don’t worry. Wight Vets is owned by John and Emily Knight and is a proudly independent, family run and locally owned practice. For us it’s very much business as usual.

Fact check:- The post that concerned some people related to IVC Evidensia UK announcing they are permanently closing their Isle of Wight practice trading as “The Mobile Vet” at Watergate road from 6th June 2024. That practice has actually been shut since October 2022 when IVC Evidensia UK announced its “temporary” closure. So in reality nothing has changed.

Well it's all very lovely, but who is the mysterious donor? We have a very nice puzzle for a Friday afternoon. Someone very kind and very generous has sent us a wonderful box of goodies which arrived this afternoon addressed to Wight Vets. However there is no note of who it is from!!! So please let us know if it was you so we can say THANK YOU !! **Solved!! It was some lovely clients who have just moved off the IOW saying goodbye. So glad we could thank them personally.**
