Meet Barry, a dog who is so terrified of fireworks that he refuses to go to the toilet. 💔

Owned by one of our team, Barry is one of the many animals affected by fireworks, making celebrations like New Year's Eve very challenging.

Currently on behavioural medication, Barry's phobia is so severe that he has struggled to go for walks since Bonfire Night and now reacts fearfully to sounds like car doors slamming.

We urge you to put pets first and reconsider any plans to host or attend at-home fireworks displays. 🎇

🐰 Meet Brie & Feta! 🐰
Brie and Feta are two gorgeous, strongly bonded Lion Head sisters searching for their forever home together. These lovely bunnies are sweet, shy, and full of potential - they just need the right family to help them blossom!

Older, rabbit-savvy children who understand the importance of patience and allowing interaction on the rabbits' terms would be a great fit. All handling should be supervised, and the girls should have plenty of space to retreat when needed.

While they can be a little reserved at first, Brie and Feta warm up quickly with gentle attention. They may find handling daunting initially, but with time and patience, they relax and start enjoying the fuss. They share a beautiful bond and can often be found snuggling or exploring together.

Brie and Feta would thrive in a loving home where they can grow their confidence and feel safe. If you’re ready to give these sweet sisters a home filled with patience, care, and plenty of space to explore, they’ll repay you with companionship and joy.

If Brie and Feta sound like the perfect pair for your family, please apply via one of their profiles here:

🐰 Meet Cindy & Lou 🐰

Cindy & Lou are an adorable pair of bunnies looking for a new home together. These sweet girls have always been in foster care and have never had a place to call their own.

Cindy & Lou are shy girls, so they would thrive best in a home without other animals. They’d be suited to a home with older, rabbit-savvy children who understand the importance of giving them space and time to settle.

The rabbits are still getting used to being around people and don’t like being picked up. They’ll need a calm environment with positive reinforcement (and lots of tasty treats!) to help build their trust.Lou is the braver of the pair, she loves a nose stroke while eating her pellets and will climb onto your leg for treats. Lou also loves grooming Cindy - such a caring sister!

They aren’t fussy eaters and are always ready to come out of hiding when they hear pellets or see treats. Both girls enjoy playing with enrichment toys like stacking cups and chewing mats. Lou particularly loves rolling cups around, while both bunnies like to flop and relax in sight of their human once they feel comfortable.

Cindy & Lou may be shy, but they have so much love to give to the right home. With patience, understanding, and lots of yummy treats, they’ll grow into confident and happy bunnies.

If you think you could provide Cindy & Lou with the loving, stable home they deserve, please apply through one of their profiles here:

Tootsie is finally in a home for Christmas! Alone and vulnerable, Tootsie was struggling to survive on the streets of London.

Her situation took a turn for the worse when some children spotted her and tried to run her over with their bikes. 💔

Crying in fear, she was rescued and brought into our care, where she began her recovery.

She was soon moved to our Southampton rehoming centre where she began displaying nervous and aggressive behaviour due to the trauma she had experienced.

The team spent several weeks gently building Tootsie’s confidence, and eventually, she relaxed, after realising she was in a safe space.

Tootsie's outlook on life changed dramatically, and after 53 days with us, she finally found a loving home where she felt safe. 💙

Monty's experience serves as a warning to be extra vigilant with pets during the Christmas season. ⚠️

Clearly, Monty wanted to join in on the Christmas festivities when he broke into a hamper and consumed some boozy fruitcake.

Luckily, his owner noticed quickly and rushed him to our animal hospital in Victoria.

The rich fruitcake contained sherry-soaked sultanas, nuts, cherries, and brandy.

Sultanas and raisins are toxic to cats and dogs, and even small amounts can lead to severe kidney failure. While alcohol can be fatal to pets.

Thankfully, Monty made a full recovery, but it's a reminder that the festive season holds many hidden dangers for pets. 🎄

Terrified and undernourished, three puppies were desperately searching for food when they found themselves in our care. It was obvious that the siblings had seen and experienced very little of the world, given how shutdown they were and the fear they displayed when encountering many everyday sights and sounds.

The team knew they had a real job on their hands. As well as building their physical strength, the team had to start training and socialisation from scratch. Thanks to the emergency resources available, they were able to help the pups come out of their shells and learn to trust. Without your donations, this wouldn't be possible.

Found freezing, limp and lifeless inside a carrier by a kind passerby, by the time she came through our hospital doors, the team feared this poor cat was already dead - until she let out a tiny cry for help. 😿

Named Finsbury after the London park she was found in on a cold and wet day, she was hanging onto life by a thread. Rushed into intensive care, she had collapsed and tests confirmed she was critically ill with hypothermia and a respiratory infection. She was also covered in fleas that had left her with fur loss and scabs all over her body.

To give her a fighting chance of survival, she was given much needed warmth and medication and miraculously, she began to recover. Once stable enough, she was transferred to a foster home where she enjoyed lapping up all of the attention. Now thriving in a loving home, her previous trauma is thankfully a distant memory. Just look at her journey!

Finsbury made it to us in the nick of time, and thanks to the emergency care available, we were able to save her life. Without your donations, this wouldn't be possible. Introducing the most festively named of kitties - Mr Figgy Pudding Paws! 🎄🎅

So shy when he came into our care, Figgy would make a nest with his blankets and hide away from anyone that came near his pen. Following some inappropriate toileting in his former home, he was suffering from urinary crystals – a potentially fatal condition if left untreated.

But after a course of medication, Figgy started to feel brighter and his natural curiosity overcame his anxiety. Cautiously he introduced himself to the Blue Cross team and hasn't looked back since! Could you make his and welcome him into your home? 👉 https://bit.ly/4ixDzie

At just four weeks old, Emma was not where she should have been at Christmas - close to her mum in a warm, loving home. Instead, she was abandoned in a box and left on a doorstep. 💔

Covered in fleas and showing signs of cat flu, she was terrified. Fortunately, the homeowner made the right decision to bring her into our care.

Luckily, Emma was a fighter, responded well to the treatment, and found a loving home just in time for Christmas.

We rely on your support to carry out our work helping vulnerable pets like Emma.

If you can, please donate today to help provide emergency items for our veterinary and rehoming teams. 🙏

In just nine short months of life, Elsie has been through more change than any cat should in a lifetime. 😥

Coming into our care as a stray, Elsie has been rehomed and then returned and needed space in multiple foster homes while she waits patiently for somewhere permanent. All she wants this Christmas is a home that she never has to leave again. ❤

Despite so much uncertainty, she's happily explored and settled in each home she's been in and is playful, loving and affectionate. She'll make the most wonderful company! Meet her 👉 https://bit.ly/4g4Fnh8

Caked in grime, the team initially thought Midge was actually white with brown-coloured patches, but they were in fact, large mounds of fleas, filth and grot. 💔

Who's ready for a Christmas miracle? ✨

When Tabitha was spotted hanging around outside our cattery looking a little dishevelled, the team took her in and set about posting an appeal on social media to try and locate her owner.

After a week of beginning to lose hope, a gentleman came in showing pictures of a cat that looked just like Tabitha. They arranged a meet at the centre and it was immediately clear from the reunion that the kitty belonged to them. Thanks to the care and hard work of the team, the 13 year old went home with her family to spend Christmas where she belongs. ❤

Although Tabitha is clearly a much-loved cat, her owners weren't aware that it's now the law for all cats to be microchipped. Had this been the case, they would have been reunited even more quickly. Find out more 👉 https://bit.ly/462lcv2

Passing by the forecourt of a Lexus car garage, when a member of the public heard meowing, they alerted the staff who found a tiny black kitten under the bonnet of one of the cars!

Named Alexus (what else!) she was brought to us and apart from being riddled with fleas, she was in good health. She thrived in foster care and it wasn't long before she went off to a new home. Just look at her with her new best friend. 😻

Alexus' story highlights the importance of keeping cats safe in the colder months. With the temperature dropping, cats may crawl into a car bonnet or engine to keep warm but when the engine is started up, cats can be seriously injured or even killed. When it feels cold out, be sure to check or give your bonnet a quick bang before setting off. 🚗

🐾 Meet Neville! 🐾

Neville is a sweet boy looking for his new home through our Home Direct scheme. He’s currently living with his owners but is ready to find a peaceful environment where he can thrive. Here’s a little more about him:

💙 Age: 2 years 3 months
🐱 Only Pet: Neville hasn’t lived with other animals and would do best as the only pet in the home. While he briefly met a dog, he’s quite timid, so a calm, pet-free household is ideal.
👶 No Children: Neville would be happiest in a home without children. Loud or busy environments can make him anxious.
👐 Handling: While Neville doesn’t mind being picked up, it’s best kept short – just to move him if necessary. He prefers to approach you for attention when he feels comfortable.
🚽 Litter Trained: Yes! Neville uses a hooded litter tray with clumping clay litter.
😺 Personality: Once Neville feels safe, he’s quite affectionate and playful! He loves chasing string toys and is known for sneakily attacking feet under blankets. He enjoys being brushed with a soft brush and loves interactive play throughout the day. However, he does get scared easily and will need a patient owner who can give him the time and space he needs to feel at ease.

If you think you can offer Neville the quiet, loving home he’s looking for, please apply via the link below! He deserves a loving home where he can truly relax and be himself. 💙

🚨 Important changes to our Pet Food Bank 🚨

Here at Blue Cross, our pet food bank relies solely on public donations for stock, and is run by a group of generous volunteers who offer up their free time to do so. Because of our limited resources, there have been some changes to the way our food bank is run.

🐾 All food bank requests must be ordered one week in advance by calling or emailing us, quoting your allocated food bank number if you have one. This is to give our volunteers time to source and pack your orders and to ensure we have stock available.

🐾 Our collection days are Tuesdays and Thursdays between 11am-4pm. We politely ask that you do not bring your own pets to reception with you when you collect, due to the possibility of other animals being on site.

🐾 Food parcels must be collected in person from our site on Willenhall Street, either by yourself or a nominated friend or family member. We will do our best to provide 2 weeks worth of food.

Please place your food bank orders by emailing us at [email protected] or by calling us on 0300 777 1850, option 3. Lines are open 10-4 daily.

Thank you for your understanding.

🐹 Meet Daisy & Rosie – Your Future Best Friends! 🐹

Are you ready to add some adorable guinea pig love to your home? Daisy & Rosie are a delightful bonded pair currently residing with our wonderful foster carers. They’re looking for a forever home where they can continue to thrive together.

Daisy & Rosie are inseparable and used to each other’s company. They could be gradually introduced to other piggies if you already have some in your home.

They’re accustomed to young school-aged children and are quite happy interacting with them. However, we always recommend supervising interactions to ensure everyone’s safety and comfort.

Like most guinea pigs, Daisy & Rosie can be a bit skittish when picked up as they prefer all four feet on the ground. But, if you hold them closely and support them well, they’ll tolerate being held and will warm up to you in no time.

While in foster care, they’ve shown they’re not phased by dogs. Nevertheless, as with all small pets, we suggest supervising any interactions to keep everyone safe.

They’ve lived indoors before and are currently enjoying the great outdoors with their foster carer. They will need to be gradually introduced back indoors to stay cosy as the temperature starts cooling.

🐰 Meet Lucky: A Charming Rabbit Ready to Hop Into Her New Home! 🐰

Lucky is currently on our Home Direct scheme and living with her current owner while we help her find a new forever home. She is ready for a new chapter!

Lucky has never lived with another rabbit before, but she is sociable and friendly with everyone she meets. She is very scared of the cat she lives with, therefore, we are ideally looking for a home without cats or dogs.

Lucky is friendly with children who understand how to handle animals gently, so could live with an older rabbit-savvy child. We always recommend supervision to ensure everyone stays safe and happy.

Lucky is a laid-back bunny who loves to greet you and enjoys being stroked and held. Lucky loves her green veggies, with celery being her absolute favourite! She’s fully litter trained and uses an open tray with wood pellet litter.

Lucky will need at least two weeks to settle into her new home. After she’s comfortable, she can start bonding with a neutered male rabbit, so she’s ready for a bunny buddy!

If you think you can offer Lucky the loving and patient home she deserves, please apply at the link below. She’s a sweet and easy-going rabbit who will make a wonderful companion. 🐰💙
