Today is , and we want to celebrate brave Nora, who saved the life of another kitten who was on the brink of death. 💙

Cookie arrived with us weighing just 350g and suffering from flea anaemia and conjunctivitis.

At just eight-weeks-old, she needed a blood transfusion, and it was fate when Nora, was a match and could donate some blood.

These cases don’t always have a happy ending, but for Cookie the blood transfusion saved her.

Thank you, Nora for lending your paw to another cat in need. 🐾

Juno has been reserved to be adopted three times now, but they keep falling through and she doesn't understand why.

Gentle and loving, she'd happily play and explore all day if she could. You'd never guess that Juno is also blind. Sadly, we think the thought of any additional needs she may have are putting people off. But the team are confident she'll settle into a new home really well and could even get on with most other dogs or dog-savvy cats!

This , we honour the men, women, and animals of war who sacrificed so much. 💙

You can pay your respects to some of the animals that served, like Simba, by visiting The Old Blue Cross Pet Cemetery. 🐾 This cemetery marks the final resting places of pets that belonged to service personnel, as well as pets of members of the local community.

Our Blue Cross Fund supported animals during both the First and Second World Wars, and we take great pride in our heritage.

Pregnant stray Tigerlily wasn't even a year old herself when she was brought into our hospital, moments away from giving birth. 💗

Although one was sadly stillborn, the other four kittens were healthy and transferred along with Mum to foster care. As you can see they've gone from strength to strength!

This young family are among an unprecedented number of cats and kittens finding themselves in our care. We encourage everyone to neuter their pets so no cat ends up alone and in need like Tigerlily.

This may be a distressing watch. ⚠ Captured on CCTV by one of our horse borrowers, a spontaneous fireworks display in a nearby field shows the devastating effect of explosive bangs and flashing lights on horse welfare. 💔

This borrower hadn't been informed of the planned fireworks display taking place so close to her field, otherwise she would have taken the necessary steps to keep these horses as safe as possible. However, we’re still urging people to reconsider planning or attending bonfire night displays altogether and instead, consider pets and wildlife.

When three tiny kittens were left on our hospital doorstep in the early hours of the morning, it was touch and go whether they would survive. 💔 But brought inside to warm up in the nick of time, apart from being covered in fleas, the kittens appeared to be in good health.

Estimated to be around five or six weeks old, they were too young to have been separated from their mother. But with round the clock care in an amazing foster home, they grew stronger by the day.

Having been abandoned so close to Halloween, we couldn't resist naming them after a very famous family! Can you guess which one? 👻🎃

We know abandoning a pet could only be someone's last resort, so we urge anyone that is struggling to look after their pets to come directly to us so we can help, with no judgment. Thankfully little fighters Gomez, Morticia and Wednesday will soon be on their way to new families for a fresh start.

Abandoned with their whiskers cut off, eight kittens and two cats were found terrified outside our Hammersmith animal hospital. 💔

Cutting a cat's whiskers is not only painful for cats, but can also impede their spacial awareness as they rely on these thick sensory hairs to explore the world around them.

Our team dropped everything to make sure these kittens and cats got the love and care they needed before finding loving new homes.

They are among a large number of stray and unwanted cats coming through our doors this year, stretching our services to the max. 🥺

We dropped a petition to end greyhound racing off to No. 10 Downing Street! Having passed the 100,000 signature milestone (111,155 signatures to be exact), the petition will be considered for debate in Parliament. 🤞

Daisy's been on quite the journey since being brought into our care as a stray over a year ago. Arriving in our care and struggling with severe cat flu and conjunctivitis, we treated her with fluids and antibiotics and she responded well. 🙏

However sadly, it was then one thing after another from there. Ongoing diarrhoea, ear infections in both ears, and even a nasty bout of ringworm caught from some kittens in foster care, we weren't sure if poor Daisy would ever make a full recovery.

But finally, she fought off her ailments one by one and has been healthy and symptom-free for several months. Just look at her now! ▶

We rehomed our sweet older lady Bella to a lovely family two weeks ago, and have had an update on how she's settling into her new home:

"Bella and Mabel seem to have sorted their relationship out. Mabel has appropriated the bed which came with Bella, and Bella has taken over Mabel's favourite bed.

For the last couple of days I've trusted her off the lead on walks round the field at the back of my house. She is reliably returning on command from distances as great as 100 yards - admittedly with cheese assistance. All her encounters with strange dogs have been good tempered. All in all, so far so good."

We're so happy that Bella is living her best life with her new sister and owners 🐶💙

🐾 Have you lost your cat? 🐾

We've been informed that there is an entire male black and white stray seeming cat in living in a back garden in the Gaer area of Newport. He is not microchipped, is a bit thin, and is a very hungry lad. He has been living in the garden for more than two weeks and surviving on bread put out for birds, and the occasional bit of cat food the residents can spare.

We’ve had a busy few weeks here at the centre between keeping ourselves and our foster pets as cool as we can! Including lots of rehomings just before the heatwave came our way!

We waved off Chin-Chin the Chinchilla who will be joining another chinchilla to keep her company as well as Martin the Degu who is also joining another Degu for companionship. Then finally our 2 rabbits Thumper and Muffin who have landed on their paws in their spacious new home! 💙

Ebba and Crystal are are like two peas in a pod and are looking for a new home together from their current home in Wales.

💙HAPPY GOTCHA DAY MAISIE💙

After being found as a stray and staying at a local Kennel for a few months, the team were delighted to help find Maisie a loving home to start her new life in…. And they did just that!!

The wonderfully sweet Maisie Moo bounced off to her lovely new home yesterday afternoon with her humans and new dog sister🐶🐶 She of course had to get her cuddly best friend Rabbit in her photos too!😂 We cannot wait to see updates on her progress.

Now that we are at the end of Blue Cross Month, we are so proud to say that our team SMASHED our target of walking 870 miles in the month of June. We have walked a total distance of 983.8 miles, which is the equivalent of walking the Welsh Coastal Path, and continuing on to our HQ in Burford, and walking half way back again.

We have raised a whopping £711 in doing so!!!! 💙 Thank you so much to everyone who has taken the time to donate, wish us well on our walks and for sharing our posts. We couldn't have done it without your support! ☺️

🎉827 Miles🎉

Our team enjoyed a group walk today taking our total miles to 827.56!!!!! We are so very close to reaching our target in time for the end of the month! The team have been working so hard even in the hot weather, around busy schedules and also continuing to help all the pets in our care!💙

We recently rehomed four adorable guinea pig sisters - Mugwort, Gypsophilia, Panda & Matilda 🐷 here's a lovely update we received from their new owner:

"They bonded so well with my two girls, Faye and Daisy, and they have all formed fantastic relationships. I've caught Matilda and Daisy snuggling on many occasions! We love them all so much. I have attached a picture of them all having their dinner together ❤️"

🐾 Looking for Love: Single Male Degu Seeks Female Companion 🐾

This is Sully, a charming single male degu looking for a lovely female companion to share a cosy, loving home with. Sully is a very curious degu whose confidence is being built on in foster care. He enjoys nibbling on healthy treats, exploring new tunnels, and having long chats with my human friends.

He has been in Blue Cross care for 88 days 😭 Sully is currently living alone as sadly his last friend picked on him and they had to be separated.

We are so looking forward to seeing him off to his new loving home.

She is the happiest, most adored pup in the world - thoroughly enjoys her walks, recall magnificent from the off; for a couple of days I thought she might be on commission with Farrow and Ball as she redesigned my kitchen door but she has learnt to trust and feel completely safe with me - we have bonded and so have all of my grandchildren.
