On Remembrance Sunday, we honour the bravery and sacrifice of all those who served—humans and animals alike.🫶
Animals played an essential role in wartime, from messenger pigeons to cavalry horses and service dogs, each one giving their all in the fight for freedom. ❤️
Today, we remember them all, with deep gratitude and respect.
Lest we forget." 🌸

Xhabu update!
Here is the main man himself, tucking in his breakfast. 🥬
Xhabu has been making great progress since his life-saving surgery, but he still has a long journey ahead. His carers are dedicated to ensuring he has everything he needs to stay comfortable. 🫶
We want to extend our heartfelt appreciation on behalf of Xhabu and his carers for your incredible support so far. Your donations are making a world of difference! 🙏❤️
If you can, please consider visiting his GoFundMe page to help us continue providing the care he needs.
Every little bit helps and brings us closer to our goal!
Happy Halloween from all the staff & animals at the sanctuary! 🎃✨
Whether you’re dressing up, trick-or-treating, or enjoying a spooky movie night, have a blast and stay safe. 👻

We need your help 🙏❤️
Our gorgeous boy Xhabu underwent life-saving surgery on Wednesday after showing concerning symptoms.
His carers noticed he was off-colour in the morning and began vomiting, prompting them to contact the vet.
Despite close monitoring, his discomfort grew, leading to an urgent vet visit.
During surgery, a blockage was discovered that required immediate removal to prevent life-threatening complications.
The next 24 hours were critical. Our boy, Xhabu, did pull through, receiving dedicated care from his carers throughout the night.
While it was a close call, Xhabu is now on the long road to recovery.
We’re hopeful this won’t affect his recovery from the stroke he suffered in 2023, and we’ll continue to closely monitor his progress and keep you all updated.
As a charity, we rely heavily on donations, including admission tickets. With our closing date of November 3rd approaching and the toughest time of year ahead, we’re launching the Xhabu Recovery Appeal to help cover vet bills and high ongoing care costs. Every donation makes a huge difference, and we are incredibly grateful for any support you can give. 🙏
A huge thank you to our amazing team, vets, and all of you, our supporters, for your continued care and generosity. ❤️
If you think you can help, please take a look at Xhabu's go fund me page ❤️

We never expected such an incredible response and interest in her story, so we wanted to share a bit more with you all.
Last Friday, we celebrated Treacle’s 28th birthday, and while we knew she was getting on in years, something amazing happened!
We received a notification from the Zoological Information Management System (ZIMS) that said:
“Your institution has recorded the longest living individual of the following species, please double-check this data, as sometimes these extreme values indicate an error, if the record is correct, congratulations!” ❤️
Yes, it was about Treacle, our beloved Javan Langur, so after checking her records, we can confirm her birthday is accurate.
She is the oldest living Javan Langar currently on record.
What a milestone! 🎉
ZIMS is a global database used by over 1,300 zoological collections in 102 countries to manage and share important animal data, contributing to worldwide conservation efforts.
Treacle has been part of our sanctuary family since 2012, winning everyone over with her funny mannerisms and bright personality. 💛
Sadly, Treacle had her eye removed due to a severe tooth infection linked to her old age, but this hasn’t slowed her down one bit.
Thank you again for all the love for our special girl! 🥰

Swing on by to Monkey Haven – the happiest attraction in town! The award-winning primate rescue centre and sanctuary is a favourite on TripAdvisor and a recent winner of best small attraction in England.
Come along and meet our wonderful family, including whooping gibbons, mischievous monkeys, naughty meerkats, incredible reptiles and beautiful birds of prey, that have all been rescued and given a new lease of life. They have such fun…and you will too.
There are keeper talks and animal feeds throughout the day, where you can find out all about our awesome animals and they came to be here. You can also get up close to hand-reared birds of prey at the daily talks – just pop along to ‘Have a hoot with the owls’ or learn to handle a snake at ‘Reptile Rendezvous’.
Our mission is to provide a happy Haven for rescued animals. Many of the animals we care for have been rescued from the cruel pet trade and are very rare. Monkey Haven is a registered charity and all proceeds from your visit will help the animals you’ll meet and enable us to rescue more animals in need of care.
Download the free App to plan your visit, follow a banana trail, see behind the scenes, and take silly selfies. Plus there are kids’ play areas, activity booklets, a lovely tea room, and a great little gift shop. There’s also full disabled access, pushchair friendly paths, easy parking, free Wifi - and tickets are valid for a complimentary return within 7 days.
We look forward to welcoming you to our happy Haven!
