Remember, remember the 5th of November...
..is coming up soon! π
We all enjoy some seasonal fun watching fireworks whilst keeping warm by bonfires, but not all of our pets or the local wildlife enjoy it as much as us!
We will be sharing tips for helping our anxious pets, and things to be mindful of during bonfire night celebrations.
Let's start with helpful hints for our canine friends! πΆ
π» Toilet time- Try to get your dog to go to the toilet before the fireworks start and keep them indoors during the displays.
π§ π½οΈ Food and water access- For dogs that struggle to eat when stressed, ensure they have access to food and water all night. If you know when the worst nights for fireworks will be, feed your dog late afternoon or early evening before the noise begins
π Secure your home- Make sure your home is secure by closing all doors and windows, as scared pets can sometimes bolt. Close curtains and blinds to minimise flashes.
π΅ Create background noise- Play moderately loud rhythmic music with a good beat to help mask the sound of the fireworks. Alternatively, familiar sounds like the TV may also comfort your dog.
πβπ¦ΊPrevent trapping- Ensure your dog cannot get trapped, as this can worsen their phobias. Avoid shutting them in tight spaces
π Consider neutraceuticals- We offer a range of products to help relieve stress such as Calmex and Zylkene. If you would like to look into these please contact us for more information.
We welcome clients to contact us with any more concerns towards their pets and firework night.
