We have sadly had a deceased cat found at top of staplers by Xmas tree light house ( house as your heading from Staplers onto Long Lane) Female. Black with a small white patch on neck about a 20p size. Sadly no microchip so we are unable to trace an owner. 🌈
Please contact the practice on 01983 522822 if you think this could be your cat.

Don't fur-get the flames! πŸ”₯

This time of year there will be a lot of bonfires popping up and whilst they can be fun we ask that everyone be mindful of how they can affect local wildlife.

Please check your bonfire -before- lighting it for any wild critters hiding out in it, like hedgehogs πŸ¦”, rats πŸ€or mice 🐁
Once you have let the fire burn out please ensure the embers have fully cooled before leaving it unattended to avoid wildlife (and pets) running over it and burning their paws!

Tonight many of you will be out trick or treating in your best spooky attire.
We just ask you to remember that as much as we enjoy the treats- our pets don't!
Please make sure any sweets and chocolates are kept out of our furry friend's reach.
If you know that your pet has eaten something they shouldn't please call your vet for advice.

It can also be a very stressful time for our more worried pets, so we advise keeping cats indoors where possible, and providing quiet spaces for your nervous cats and dogs were they can feel safe.

Happy Halloween everyone! πŸ‘» πŸŽƒπŸ§Ÿ

As Bonfire Night draws closer we encourage clients to ensure their pets will have a stress free evening whilst everyone enjoys the seasonal fun.

We've posted about how to relieve our dog's stress regarding fireworks, now let's look at hints for helping our feline friends! 😺

🐾 Create a cosy hideaway- Set up a snug space for your cat to retreat to during the fireworks. A quiet corner with their favourite blanket or a covered cat bed can provide comfort and security.

πŸ½οΈπŸ’§Food and water access- Make sure your cat has access to food and water throughout the night. If you know fireworks are coming, consider feeding them a little earlier to reduce stress during mealtime.

πŸ”Secure your home- Close all windows and doors to prevent your frightened kitty from darting outside. Use curtains or blinds to block out flashes from the fireworks.

🎡Play Soothing Sounds- Use soft music or turn on the TV to help mask the sound of fireworks. Cats often find comfort in familiar noises, which can help ease their anxiety.

πŸ“¦Provide hiding spots- Cats love to hide! Leave boxes or tunnels around for your cat to explore and retreat to when they feel scared. These spaces can make them feel safer.

πŸ’Š Consider neutraceuticals- We offer a range of products to help relieve stress such as Calmex and Zylkene. If you would like to look into these please contact us for more information.

We welcome clients to contact us with any concerns towards their pets and firework night.

Remember, remember the 5th of November...
..is coming up soon! πŸŽ†

We all enjoy some seasonal fun watching fireworks whilst keeping warm by bonfires, but not all of our pets or the local wildlife enjoy it as much as us!
We will be sharing tips for helping our anxious pets, and things to be mindful of during bonfire night celebrations.

Let's start with helpful hints for our canine friends! 🐢

🚻 Toilet time- Try to get your dog to go to the toilet before the fireworks start and keep them indoors during the displays.

πŸ’§ 🍽️ Food and water access- For dogs that struggle to eat when stressed, ensure they have access to food and water all night. If you know when the worst nights for fireworks will be, feed your dog late afternoon or early evening before the noise begins

πŸ” Secure your home- Make sure your home is secure by closing all doors and windows, as scared pets can sometimes bolt. Close curtains and blinds to minimise flashes.

🎡 Create background noise- Play moderately loud rhythmic music with a good beat to help mask the sound of the fireworks. Alternatively, familiar sounds like the TV may also comfort your dog.

πŸ•β€πŸ¦ΊPrevent trapping- Ensure your dog cannot get trapped, as this can worsen their phobias. Avoid shutting them in tight spaces

πŸ’Š Consider neutraceuticals- We offer a range of products to help relieve stress such as Calmex and Zylkene. If you would like to look into these please contact us for more information.

We welcome clients to contact us with any more concerns towards their pets and firework night.

Stocktake

The staff are about to endure the spookiest trick on Halloween ……. Stocktake day πŸ‘»

We are going to be holding this on Friday 31st October, this will mean all our branches will be closed for routine work.

We will as always be on the phones to assist you during this time for any emergencies that may arise on 522822.

We also wanted to use this time to ensure everyone that may be in need of medication, have ample time to request it. We would ask that all medications requests are in no later than Tuesday lunchtime, to allow adequate ordering time.

Today is the start of Guinea-pig awareness week!
This years theme is Care, Comfort and Companionship

For the start of the week we wanted to share the 5 mains needs that they require, they are in the pictures below.

Fun fact as well
They "popcorn": When excited, guinea pigs will jump and twist their bodies in the air. How fun is that 😊

Conservatory work update

We will be having further work done tomorrow on our conservatory, which will mean that staff and clients will be unable to access the conservatory.
For admits or discharges please go to our main reception to check in or collect your pet and then our reception team and nurses will help direct you to where you need to be.
There will also be limited parking, we apologise for any inconvenience this causes.
