Hello! I’m Emily and I am a Canine Behaviourist from South Wales, owner of Perfect Dog Training.
I have been running my business from the age of 19 and I offer Behaviour consultations, Obedience Training, Trick Training, Scent Detection, Puppy Classes and Young Handler classes.
My dog training journey started as a child, growing up with Collies and Gundogs, competing at Agility with my GSP at 11 years old. He taught me so much and showed me the amazing teamwork you can have with a dog, we went on to qualify for Crufts in 2020 and I now compete with my two WCS. Meanwhile, my family built a commercial Doggy Daycare, so I have been lucky to observe hundreds of dogs before starting my business. In this time, I also raised a Guide Dog and started offering training professionally.
Now, I boast professional qualifications that I’m incredibly proud of with CIDBT, my proudest being Aggression Studies, meaning I can help dogs who need a second chance - the best part of my job! And have even featured on BBC Radio 1 talking about dog behaviour!

Call me a kill joy but I see so many dogs that have bitten people or children that it makes me especially angry seeing these “cute” videos… Dogs ARE NOT TOYS and shouldn’t have to be in these situations. You should of course have a dog that wouldn’t bite your children, but don’t put them in a situation where they may feel that they have to! For whatever reason, your dog may feel the need to bite someone, whether they’re scared, in pain, or show aggression for any other reasons. Does your dog HATE nail clips? Here’s how to teach them to file their nails with a scratch board… I’d recommend finding one with a built-in treat compartment as it makes the learning process much easier for the dog! Start by placing your treat inside the board and opening the treat compartment whenever your dog touches it with their foot. As they get more confident, this will become more of a scratch than a touch! When they’re confidently scratching, you can add a command such as “scratch” or “file” and ask them for multiple scratches for each treat! This provides great mental stimulation too as it’s essentially teaching a brand new trick! Give it a try and let us know how you get on!
