K9 Train Time We offer expert training for puppies and dogs across South Wales K9 Traintime is based in Newport, South East Wales. radius of Newport, South Wales.

We run a range of classes and workshops covering all behaviours. The classes and workshops are limited to between 3 and 8 dogs. This ensures exposure to other dogs and plenty of time to focus on you and your needs. We provide 1-to-1 training at your home and will travel within a 20-mile (approx.) K9 Traintime will never use choke chains or rattle bottles, only kind, effective methods.

Today I thought I would share this training video with you. I'm not great at doing my homework and I'm trying to get back to doing some focused training with Fleur.

The video is warts and all, ie far from perfect.

Fleur finds this environment really distracting, lots of birds and different smells. But I'm pleased she coped well.

I'm not after perfect heelwork, I'm after some focus and a loose lead. I've got to get my hand out of my pocket and adopt a normal walking pattern.

Still lots to work on. 😀

Recall! A clear consistent cue. Varied reinforcement. Practice Practice Practice!

Recall! Have a consistent cue, "Fido Here". Don't overuse it, if your dog hasn't responded, they need more training, probably in an environment with less distractions. Reward them as soon as they get back to you. Then vary the rewards, sometimes one treat, sometimes four or five, sometimes toy play. Keep them guessing. 😉 Then practice, practice and more practice.
