We definitely haven't seen the last of the cold weather, so let's make sure your pup stays snug and safe! 🧥

Here are a few simple tips:
✨Invest in a cosy, well-fitting coat to help them stay warm
✨Check their paws for ice, snow, or salt - and consider protective boots for extra protection for sensitive paws
✨Create warm indoor spots for them to relax (don’t be offended if they opt for the floor!)

How does your dog enjoy staying cosy in winter? Share your pics with us! 🐕

January 22nd is Answer Your Cat's Questions Day! 🗣❓

A day to encourage cat owners to reflect on how well they can "read" their cat and think on how they listen to their cat's cues. A day to pay extra attention to your cat's needs and think about possible questions your cat may have about their environment.

NVC's resident cutie-pie Suzie has a lot to say here - but what could she be possibly asking of us? 🤔

What do you think you think your cat would ask you?

Take 5 This Brew Monday ☕❤

As we head into a fresh week, let’s take a moment to check in - with ourselves and those around us. Whether it's over a cup of tea, coffee, or even hot chocolate, a little chat can make a big difference.

Reach out, have a brew, and spread a little warmth this Monday 🫶🐾

Cold weather calls for extra snuggles and care! 🐾❄

Here are some tips to make sure your feline friend stays warm and comfortable this season:
✨Provide draft-free sleeping spots with blankets or a heated pet bed for extra warmth (though they might still choose their own favourite spot!)
✨Keep them indoors on chilly days (if they’re happy to stay in)
✨Check their water bowl regularly to make sure it’s not frozen

Did you know that 14th January is National Cesarean Section Day?

This medical procedure is just as crucial in veterinary medicine as it is in human medicine for the health and safety of both the mother and baby across all species!

Check out this lovely, healthy calf below that our Large Animal vet Aoife recently delivered via C-section - and a little look at Mum post-surgery! ❤🐂

⚠ Work in Progress ⚠

We will be carrying out some necessary maintenance work within the building today. As a result of this our waiting room is out of use.
We would appreciate if all clients could not enter the building until their scheduled appointment time and where possible check in with Reception and wait in your vehicle until the Vet is ready for you as we have limited waiting area space available.

Keep your precious pets feline fine this New Years!🎆

🎆Let's ease cat firework anxiety with these five top tips:

🐾Create a Cosy Hideaway: Set up a snug space for your cat to retreat to during the fireworks. A quiet corner with their favourite blanket or a covered cat bed can provide comfort and security
🍽💧Food & Water Access: Make sure your cat has access to food and water throughout the night. If you know fireworks are coming, consider feeding them a little earlier to reduce stress during mealtime
🔒Secure Your Home: Close all windows and doors to prevent your frightened kitty from darting outside. Use curtains or blinds to block out flashes of light from the fireworks
🎶Play Soothing Sounds: Use soft music or turn on the TV to help mask the sound of fireworks. Cats often find comfort in familiar noises, which can help ease their anxiety
📦Provide Hiding Spots: Cats love to hide! Leave boxes or tunnels around for your cat to explore and retreat to when they feel scared. These spaces can make them feel safer.

As we approach the end of 2024, a lot of people will be preparing to welcome in 2025 with a bang! 🎆

However, a lot of pet owners will be preparing for a anxious New Year's Eve with their furry companions!

Let's ease dog firework anxiety with these five top tips:

🚻Toilet Time: Try to get your dog to go to the toilet before the fireworks start and keep them indoors during the displays
🍽💧Food & Water Access: For dogs that struggle to eat when stressed, ensure they have access to food and water all night. If you know when the worst nights for fireworks will be, feed your dog late afternoon or early evening before the noise begins
🔒Secure Your Home: Make sure your home is secure by closing all doors and windows, as scared pets can sometimes bolt. Close curtains and blinds to minimise flashes
🎶Create Background Noise: Play moderately loud rhythmic music with a good beat to help mask the sound of fireworks. Alternatively, familiar sounds like the TV may also comfort your dog
🐕Prevent Trapping: Ensure your dog cannot get trapped, as this may worsen their phobias. Avoid shutting them in tight spaces

Please share this post to help other pet owners keep their furry friends safe!❤

Christmas Culprit #8: XYLITOL

Sweet but Deadly 🛑

🍬Xylitol, found in sugar-free sweets, gum, and even some peanut butter, is highly toxic to pets! Just a little bit can cause a dangerous drop in blood sugar.

Keep treats far from curious noses! 🐶
