Christmas Culprit #3: ALCOHOL

Wine Not? Because Alcohol is Toxic for Pets! ☠

🍷Alcohol might be festive for us, but it's dangerous for pets! Even a small sip can cause vomiting, difficulty breathing, or worse.
Keep those cocktails and mulled wines well out of paw’s reach this holiday season! 🎄🐾

🐾SENIOR SATURDAY🐾

Cats are experts at hiding pain, so the symptoms of osteoarthritis can be harder to spot or only noticeable once the arthritis and pain levels are more severe.

🐱Reluctance or inability in jump
🐱Reduced grooming or matted fur
🐱Overgrooming can also be a sign
🐱Irritability, shyness or changes in behaviour
🐱Sleeping more than normal
🐱Stiffness or developing a limp
🐱Loss of toilet training
🐱Overgrown nails

With the right treatment, cats with osteoarthritis can still enjoy a comfortable and active life!

The race will be taking place in May 2025 but we want to get all our fundraising energy behind her now and get her off to a strong start! 💪

We will be accepting donations in the Practice or you can scan the QR Code on the image below to donate through Joan's fundraising page.

🐾SENIOR SATURDAY 🐾

Slowing down on walks? It's easy to assume they're just getting old, but…often, it's a sign of something more, like arthritis or lameness.

Senior dogs might need slower, sniffy walks to stay comfortable and happy. They could also benefit from eating a bit less and having a padded bed to ease joint pain.

Don’t forget regular nail trims since they're not walking as much. If you notice these mobility changes, it’s time for a vet check-up. 💙

Time to show off those winter-ready looks! ❄🐾

As the temperature drops, it's important to keep our furry friends warm and cosy. Here are some essential tips to ensure they stay comfortable during the chilly season:
🧥Bundle Up: Train your dog to wear a well-fitting jumper or jacket for warmth during walks or outdoor play. If there's deep snow, keep them on a lead to avoid hidden dangers like frozen water or deep holes
🐾Limit Outdoor Time: Keep your cat’s outdoor adventures short in freezing or snowy conditions to protect their paws and ears from frost damage
🛏Create a Cosy Spot: Make sure they have a soft, warm bed indoors where they can curl up and relax
🌡Keep the Indoors Toasty: Ensure your home is comfortably heated and offer extra blankets for snuggles

Share a photo of your pet in their winter gear or cosy spot below!

🐾SENIOR SATURDAY🐾

As our pets age, their needs change.

We can help them by regularly assessing their health and lifestyle and making any necessary adjustments to ensure they have a good quality of life.

Old age itself is not a disease, and there are many ways we can help pets with age-related conditions to continue to live life to the full.

👀Keep an eye on our page over the next few weeks for tips on what to watch out for to help keep all your special senior pets happy! ❤

Today is World Diabetes Day!

Just like humans, our furry companions can develop diabetes too. Pet diabetes occurs when the body can’t properly produce or utilise insulin, leading to elevated blood sugar levels. Early detection is key to managing this condition and ensuring your pet lives a happy, healthy life
Some signs to watch for include increased thirst, frequent urination, unexplained weight loss, reduced activity/feeling tired, and increased appetite. If you notice any of these symptoms, book an appointment with us right away.
