Have you brought a new puppy into your life? We're thrilled for you! 🥳 Raising a puppy is an incredible adventure but also one that requires a lot of hard work.
One of the best things about having a companion animal that brightens our days is that each and every pet is different, and they all have varied personalities, tastes and quirks.
So, our question is: What do you like the most about your pet? 🤔
There are a number of diseases that have a genetic component, meaning that these can be transmitted from pet parents to their offspring. Some of these are associated with certain breeds, such as:
🐕 Brachycephalic obstructive airway disease in the French Bulldog and other brachycephalic breeds
🐕 Hip and elbow dysplasia in the German Shepherd
🐕 Mitral valve disease and dry eye in the Cavalier King Charles
🐈 Polycystic kidney disease in Persian cats
This is why screening pet parents is so important, which is something that you need to be mindful of if you’re considering buying from a breeder.
DNA testing is one of the tools used to screen potential pet parents, alongside with other tests, such as X-rays, ultrasound, orthopaedic and several organ-specific tests.
If you have any questions, we’re here for you!
When you see your dog having a seizure, this is understandably very distressing! 🐕🐾 In a second, they are ok, and the next, they seem to have lost control of their body.
This is most often caused by idiopathic canine epilepsy, which means we don't what's causing the seizures. However, prompt treatment should be sought, as repetitive seizure activity might become an emergency. Please call us as soon as you suspect or see that your pet has had a seizure!

What pet insurance can mean for you and your pet. 🩺
It truly is a privilege to own and care for a pet. However, you must consider the different costs when becoming a pet owner.
Even when you have everything planned and budgeted, you cannot predict the future and any unexpected veterinary or pet-related costs that might arise.
How important is it to train your dog? 🐶🐾
It is known that a well-trained dog = a happy dog. Dogs are clever, social animals, and they thrive when they can join in with family activities and are welcome in more places.
Dogs learn by association, so if you reward your dog for doing something, they are most likely to repeat this good behaviour.
Unneutered female dogs are at risk of womb infections due to the hormones produced during their normal reproductive cycle ♀️ 🐕
This is one of the reasons why we recommend that owners always consider neutering their pets, unless they are planning on breeding!
If your pet isn’t neutered, keep an eye out for the signs in our video, and call us if you have any concerns. 📲
