They’re docile, sociable, and can be trained to use a litter tray. But they do require a lot of love, care and attention, it is important to know what owning a rabbit may be like before you commit! ❤

BBQs introduce lots of changes to our pets’ environment. These include:
🐾1. Open flames
If your pet has access to the garden or BBQ area, it’s especially important to make sure the BBQ is secure. Keep it on a flat area where it’s less likely to fall over and aim not to let your pet get too close.

Bear in mind that BBQs take hours to cool down. It’s best advised to keep your pet away from the BBQ as its cooling overnight. If you’re letting them into the garden, make sure they’re supervised at all times.

🐾 2. Fatty foods
Greasy, under/overcooked meats can upset your dog’s stomach or even cause pancreatitis. Corn on the cob can cause a blockage in their digestive system.

Avoid feeding your dog meat or other products from the BBQ - as tempting as it may be, either to feed scraps or to give in to those puppy-dog eyes. The same goes for alcohol, chocolate and other foods designed for humans.

🐾 3. Poisonous or potentially harmful substances (charcoal, matches, lighters etc)
Many BBQ accessories can be deadly if our pets get access to them. These include:
Cooked bones, skewers, matches, lighter fluid, a wide array of foods and garden or cleaning products containing chemicals. It’s important to keep these products out of your pet’s reach at all times.

🐾 4. Strangers and loud environment
Pets respond differently to changes in their environment. Dogs may become incredibly excited or they may get scared and more inclined to run away – just like cats.
Your pet may decide that they’ve had enough of all the socialising and that it’s high time for some peace and quiet. Before your guests come round, set up a quiet zone for your pet to return to if they wish to be alone. All of the new experiences can be fun for them at first, but can quickly become overwhelming.

🐾 5. Sharp & hot objects (cooked bones/skewers)
Last but not least and taking all the above into account, remember to keep one eye on your pet as often as you can… just in case curiosity gets the better of them and objects could be sharp and hot.

Enjoy BBQ Season!

Although the weather says otherwise at times... We are officially in Spring now, so here's some Spring advice for pet owners!🌷🌷

🐾 1. Keep fleas and ticks at bay
Fleas can be a problem all year round, but they love to breed in warm weather. You may find the problem worsens in warmer months, so make sure you keep their flea treatment up-to-date. Worming requirements are the same all year round, so make sure you’re keeping up-to-date on their worming treatment too. Along with staying up to date with their preventative treatment, you can protect your dog or cat by washing their paws thoroughly after an outside adventure. Ticks like to linger in long grass, so arm yourself with a specialist tick remover – just in case.

🐾 2. Be aware of Spring allergies
Like us, pets can be allergic to foods, dust, plants and pollens. Allergic reactions in dogs and cats can cause itching, minor sniffling and sneezing, or life-threatening anaphylactic shock to insect bites and stings. If you suspect your pet has a springtime allergy, please seek advice from your vet.

🐾 3. Warmer weather coming
With the warmer weather coming (hopefully...), remember to move with the season changes. Decide whether it is appropriate weather for your dog to still need a coat? Should you be changing up your pets thicker winter bedding to something a bit lighter? This ensures our pets don't over heat as the weather gets a bit warmer. We can't wait for spring walks! If the weather does get hot in the Spring, always make sure your pet has access to shade and clean drinking water. Consider bringing them indoors during the mid-afternoon when the sun is highest.

🐾 4. Be aware of plant toxins
Spring is a colourful, fresh and all round lovely time of year – but your four-legged friend could end up in some serious danger if they come into contact with the wrong plant or flower. Some examples of plants that are poisonous to dogs and cats include (but not limited to): Buttercups, Daffodils, Tulips, Cyclamen, Oleander, Lilies. If your pet displays any symptoms, or if you know they’ve eaten something they shouldn’t, you should contact your vet right away. Symptoms to look out for include nausea
drooling, vomiting, diarrhoea, abnormal heart rate and change of breathing. Find out more information at https://www.myfamilyvets.co.uk/which-plants-are-poisonous...

🐾5. Be careful of Easter treats
Easter eggs are a springtime treat, which can be fatal for your four-legged friend. Chocolate poisoning can be extremely dangerous and fatal for your pet.
We recommend that you store chocolate in the same way as you’d store medicine – well out of the way of pets’ reach. For more info visit: https://www.pdsa.org.uk/.../conditions/chocolate-poisoning

🐾6. Be aware of spring cleaning dangers
Spring cleaning is a time-honoured tradition in many households, but be sure to keep all cleaners and chemicals out of your pets’ way! Almost all cleaning products, even all natural ones, contain chemicals that may be harmful to pets. The key to using them safely is to read and follow label directions for proper use and storage.
