Little lady Frankie had her 2nd groom with me the other day.

Nobody really knows too much about Frankie's background including just how old she actually is due to spending a considerable amount of time on the streets.

She has little old lady extremely thick and curled under nails that require special clippers to get through them and her coat is super greasy and full of either dandruff or eczema.

Frankie always loves a fuss and purs and purs whilst she's being brushed. She loves her ears being cleaned too.

We've booked Frankie in for her 3rd groom and are going to include a nice bath next time to see if we can really freshen up her coat.

What a handsome boy 😍. Jasper had his first groom with me on Saturday.

Jasper is 2 years old and has a massive coat. He'd built up a few pesky mats and was getting his bib in his mouth.

Jasper did sooo well for his first groom. His dad kept him busy with treats whilst I got to work removing all the mats. Afterwards, he had a full brush through, a bib trim and a sanitary trim.

Then he and his sister enjoyed some catnip afterwards.

I met my oldest customer yet today, sweet old lady Lilo. 🥰

Lilo is a whopping 22 years old 😲 and has just recently stopped grooming herself. She looked like a spiky hedgehog when I got there today.

Lilo had the full works. She particularly enjoyed her treats and her ears cleaned as those ears were giving her some jip.

As soon as it was all over, she had a bite to eat and went straight back to bed in her cheesy crisp box, (her chosen favourite place to sleep).

Last week I met Ernie for his first groom with me.

Ernie is 3 years old and mega fluffy with cotton wool like fur.

Being a Persian with a really long thick coat, Ernie is used to being groomed but this time the mats had gotten outta control. I hate to do lion cuts and only do when it's a last resort, but it all had to come off. 🙈😿

We gave Ernie lots of treats and lots of breaks.

Ernie did not want to be in any position he didn't want to be, so I had to go with what he was comfortable with and tackle tricky bits under the arm pits in interesting ways. Lick e lix really helped with these areas though.

Ernie is booked straight back in for his next appointment and hopefully we will never have to do a lion cut on him again.

I met this gorgeous chilled out fella, Loki today.

Loki is a beautiful 2 yr old ragdoll, I love those colour markings on his face and his big blue eyes.

He had a few pesky mats removed, a sanitary trim, a little bit of a bib trim, though he was not a fan of this bit, and a trouser trim.

Last week, I gave Pluto a wet groom.

Pluto is a 9 month old rescue kitten who was a little bit pongy so we gave him a bath to freshen him up.

Pluto was a very wriggly little fella whilst we were trying to get rid of a few naughty mats but once he was in the bath he settled down. I think he actually kinda liked the bath part.

After being all dried, which was probably his least favourite bit of all, he commenced playing with his toys straight away and had forgiven us instantly.

Before the madness of Christmas, I met Kitty and Butch. Mother and son. Kitty is 3 and Butch is 1.

Kitty won't let her mum or dad near her with a comb so she called me for an introductory groom.

We did Butch first, who was a superstar, with Kitty watching from the chair.

When it was her turn, she growled a little bit but she stayed on the table, enjoyed a treat and let me give her a brush, sanitary trim and clean her eyes and ears.

Happy New Year everyone! Snow day today so I thought I'd catch up on a few posts.

Yesterday I met a gorgeous and very aptly named 9 week old kitten, called Lucky, for her first claw clip.

I discovered that Lucky had extra toe beans and extra claws 🥰. Her paws were so spread out. Cats usually have 5 on the front and 4 on the back but Lucky had 6 on both front paws and 5 on one of her back paws. She's a special cat. 😺

This is called polydactylyism. It means she has a genetic condition which caused her to be born with more digits. She will be absolutely fine, it just means she has more nails to clip.

Lucky was such a cutie, she was soo sleepy and nearly went to sleep in my arms. She managed to stay awake and went to play on her tower but just zonked out flat on her side.

Merry Christmas to ALL the wonderful cats and cat owners I have had the pleasure of meeting and grooming so far and here's to many more.

I am taking a break now over the holidays to spend some much needed time with friends and family so it may take me a little longer to respond to any messages but I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

I wish you all a safe and happy Christmas and a lovely New Year! 🍾

Only 1 day to go until I will be taking a much needed rest over Christmas. 🥂 🙌

Today was claw clip day. Murphy had his 2nd claw clip with me today. He's finally realized it doesn't hurt and if you get it over and done with quickly then you get to enjoy fusses and playing and catnip and treats. 🎉🙌😺

And here he is in the middle of enjoying all of those things. Such a sweet boy. 🥰

Just a few from during the week.

Amadeus had his 2nd groom with me the other day.

Amadeus is around 15 and needs a little attention in his older age. He hates getting his nails done especially and tries to bite me every time so he has to wear the collar of shame ATM until he hopefully gets used to it.

Isn't he such a beautiful boy though. He was exhausted after his groom and went for a little lay down under the chair and had some lick e lix, which he really enjoyed. 🥰

Peek a boo 👀 🙈🙉🙀 Duchy (a.k.a. Duchess) had a lion cut today. Her winter coat had come through twice as thick and you could barely see her poor little face or body for all of the floof. She was miserable with her matted undercoat and wouldn't let her mum brush her. 😿

Fast-forward to lion cut and look how much happier she is already 🥰.

Duchess is an 18 month old Persian and her coat mats super quickly. She was on a 6 week schedule to keep on top of it and her coat was half the size and fine last time but now with her new look I'll check in on her in 2 months time for a little maintenance check.

Gorgeous Sophie had to have a lion cut today as she was miserable with her matted fur. Her mum said she was trying to take it into her own hands and was biting at them and trying to pull them out.

You might be thinking, "Where? I can't see any matting in her coat in that picture." That's because matting isn't always visible to the eye. It starts underneath at the undercoat and spreads outwards towards the top coat.

Sophie was recently diagnosed with hyperthyroidism which can affect the fur causing it to go greasy, look unkempt and can cause matting. Cats with this disease can over groom and end up with bald patches.

Sophie's mum was doing everything she could to help her feline companion.

Afterwards, I could see that Sophie felt instantly better and was beginning to groom herself normally again. 😊

Her mum has decided that maybe a lion cut might be the way forward for Sophie's happiness in the future.

Preventing matting by regular brushing is always key, but sometimes life throws us those curve balls and we take our eye off the ball for just a moment. It happens to us all. Add in illnesses to the mix and it makes it even more tricky.

Another satisfying groom! 😻

Look at this sweet boy Leo who I met last of all today 🥰. Leo came straight up to me when I arrived and was giving me head bumps. I knew we were going to get along from the get go.

Leo is a 15 year old British Short haired who isn't grooming himself as much as he used to.

Today he looked like a spikey hedgehog bless him. Two hours later of constant brushing and voila.....back to himself! He also had an ear and eye clean which he enjoyed too.

Just look at the before and after pics of this one and how much dead hair came out just from brushing.

It's been a busy day today at Pinky's! First I dropped off all of the goodies for Ukraine (thank you everyone who donated something) and quickly clipped Billy's claws whilst I was there.

After that I met and groomed Fluffy, Wh**ey, and Silky.

Fluffy was a big grey soft lad who was super good for his groom and didn't want to get off the table afterwards. 🥰

Wh**ey was good for 5 minutes but then wanted to be down so we repeated this method giving her lots of breaks until she was done.

We only managed to get half of Silky done though as she went missing for a short while and then hid. (No pic)

All had lots of mats removed and Fluffy had a sanitary trim and Wh**ey had a tummy trim.

Yesterday I met this sweet boy Arlo. 🥰 Arlo is only 18 months old and loves to play and roll around.

He's a big lad and has a lot of fur to deal with all by himself. I think he's the biggest ragdoll I've ever seen.

His new mum has been doing a great job keeping him well brushed every day on top but as usual there are those pesky bits underneath that our feline friends just won't let us get to, so she called me in.

Arlo was very interested in my bag and the smells so that was a good start. He was a little unsure what was going on at first when I started clipping a mat off his chest but once he realized I was helping him he settled into the groom.

His mum kept him busy with treats whilst I did what I needed to do.

Arlo had the full works, an introductory groom including a brush through, nails clipped, eyes and ears cleaned plus he had a sanitary trim and a bib trim and a few mats removed.

He was absolutely super for his first ever groom. Looking forward to next time Arlo 😻

Molly, the Persian, had her 1st groom with me today. Her dad thought it might have to be a lion cut but I managed to save all of the fur on top of her body, as you can see. 😊 This will always be my first option for any cat I groom, I do not do lion cuts lightly. I spot shaved quite a few nasty mats from her ears, chin, chest, arm pits, groin, tummy and bottom, gave her tummy a full shave, gave her remaining fur a full brush through, clipped her claws and finished her off with giving her eyes and ears a really good clean. She enjoyed a lik e lix treat to finish. We've got her on a 6 weekly schedule now to try and keep on top of her beautiful coat so she can enjoy rolling around in the garden with her dad. 😊

Some sad news today, Pepsi's mum phoned me to let me know he has crossed the rainbow bridge. 🌈 😢 He was a 19 year old main coon that I had the pleasure of meeting twice for his nails clipped. Fly high little one. 😢
