the absolutely barking team are constantly learning … whilst lisa was enjoying some family time, emily and amanda where still working hard in the salon, not only this but emily forever learning attended the weekend hyponic seminar with world renowned american groomer blake hernandez … and to top it off both lisa and emily picked up their animal first aid training evening with thanks to nichola moore of petsmarts bangor, and the international animal care college …. we have loads more seminars and learning opportunists to come… we pride ourselves in continued learned to help make our services to you of quality and safety ❤️❤️ well done girls

over the last lot of months we have had many sad phone calls informing us of some wonderful clients crossing the rainbow bridge , firstly i would like to say how much of an honour it is to groom all the furbabies that cross our door, they really do leave a paw print on our hearts and we feel their loss along side you guys … and please know that each and everyone one of you will be in our thoughts, and we thank you for entrusting ur furbabies to us throughout their grooming times 💔🌈🌈💔

this last few days we have had a large number of no shows and late cancellations, we understand sometimes things are a little tight or things crop up last minute but please be aware of how much this affects our small business, we too have large bills, this can also affect our girls wages too, please be aware that any no show/late cancellation (48 business hours) will incur a fee before any further appointment can be made this may be up to full groom price depending on breed … this is not something that i like to do, i try to keep the costs of grooming down as much as i can whilst still ensuring a first class service… please help us out by attending your appointment

this last week has been a long one … and our time at crufts was epic …. firstly i would like to thank the girls for looking after the salon and all ur furbabies as if they were their own babies, i couldn’t do this without u all ❤️.

i am pleased to say that anika behaved impeccably and came away with a very respectful 5th in her class behind some beautiful european dogs in the biggest class of the day … i am pleased as an owner, groomer and handler of all our accomplishments … ❤️❤️❤️

Cold weather brings a few potential paw hazards, including:
* Dryness, chapping, and cracking: Cold temperatures and dry air can dry out paw pads. Additionally, de-icers can cause irritation or chemical burns, including salt burns on dog paws. This can be painful, and your pup may develop sores or infections, especially if they lick or chew their paws in response.
* Paw injuries: Stepping on salt crystals, rocks, or other sharp objects hidden under the snow can be painful and can even result in cuts.
* Frostbite: Just like humans, dogs’ feet and toes can develop frostbite if they get too cold.

Keeps paw pads moisturized.
Slather your pup’s pads in dog paw wax or paw balm, Bag Balm, or a beeswax based moisturizer, before hitting the streets for a winter walk (Tip: if you don’t have paw balm, petroleum jelly will do in a pinch). The moisturizing balm acts as a barrier to help keep out ice and harmful chemicals.
You can also use paw balm to soothe and moisturize your dog’s paw pads after walks. Just make sure to clean away any ice, salt, or chemicals first.

Dip your pup's paws into a shallow bowl of warm water (make sure it’s not hot!), then towel dry. This will remove ice, salt, chemicals, and any other buildup their paws may have been exposed to. Bonus: it’ll keep your floors nice and clean too!

This means steering clear of very slushy or salty areas while on your walks. Commonly used ice deicers, like calcium chloride and sodium chloride, can harm paws.
If you’re responsible for deicing outside your home, make sure to use pet-safe ice melters, and encourage your neighbors to do the same.

Keep your pup’s paws well-groomed.
Trimming your dog's nails will help with stable footing. And, for breeds with long fur between their toes, trimming this fur will aid with paw cleaning and make it less likely for ice balls to form between the toes.

Purchase dog boots or booties.
This footgear can do an excellent job protecting your dog’s paws from salt, chemicals, ice, and other winter hazards. Plus, many are non-slip in icy conditions and keep your pup’s toes nice and dry.
It’s important to get the right size. Measure your dog’s paw as advised by the manufacturer, then put on the boots so they’re tight enough to stay in place but not so tight as to interfere with circulation.

Nail trimming is an essential part of dog grooming, and trim nails are one clear sign of your dog’s good health and hygiene.

Regular nail maintenance is more than cosmetic. Unhealthy nails can cause pain, and in rare instances, trigger irreversible damage to the dog.

Long nails can turn a sound paw into a splayed foot and reduce traction, and they can cause deformed feet and injure the tendons over an extended period. As the long nail hits the ground, the pressure puts force on the foot and leg structure. Some dogs wear their nails down and won’t need to have them clipped as often.

Hey guys, hope you and your furbaby’s are all keeping well. Thought I’d put together a little video to help you manage their coats while on lockdown. Hope it’s of some help and you all stay safe.
