❌Ticks ❌
All three of these big ticks were removed from the same cat earlier this week! 😩
📌Ticks attach to your pet (or you!) to feed on blood
📌Ticks can feed for a few days on a host. It can be difficult to see them when they first attach as they are so small, so it is important to check your pet regularly
📌Ticks can carry and transmit Lyme disease which is harmful to pets and humans
📌Remember when removing ticks it is really important that you also remove the head. Leaving this in can lead to infection
⭐️Be Proactive About Parasite Prevention ⭐️
✅Keep your flea, tick and worm treatment up to date - phone us if you are unsure if your pet is covered
✅Carry a tick remover in your pet first aid kit
Well this is exciting! 🤩
Won’t be long until our Small Animal department moves into our new building 🥰

⭐️ CT Imaging ⭐️
We are delighted to share some images taken using our state of the art CT scanner. As you can see from the video below, the images are phenomenal!
This patient presented with intermittent lameness in the front legs. After still showing lameness following initial pain relief, it was decided to CT scan his elbows for further investigation.
The information that we can take from a CT image is incredibly detailed, meaning faster diagnosis and better treatment for our patients.
We find CT imaging particularly useful for, but not limited to, diagnosing;
✔️ Joint disease
✔️ Nasal passages and airway problems
✔️ Chest issues
✔️ Spinal issues
✔️ Abdominal disease
✔️ Neurological issues
✔️ Cancer staging
We are now happily receiving CT referrals from other practices, please call our reception team for details 😊

❌ Ticks ❌
We are seeing a lot of ticks in the clinic at the moment, this pair were taken from 2 different dogs today 😩
📌 Ticks attach to your pet (or you!) to feed on blood. The big tick on the left has been well fed, so is slow to move. The smaller tick on the right is more active because he is looking for his next host for a feed
📌 Ticks can feed for a few days on a host. It can be difficult to see them when they first attach as they are so small, so it is important to check your pet regularly
📌 Ticks can carry and transmit Lyme disease which is harmful to pets and humans
