Progressive, inclusive and learner led young people get a chance to learn about looking after and riding a pony.

Bronze Challenge Award
It's show day
Prepare a pony of your choice for our mini one day event.
Tack cleaned , pony sparkling , trained and schooled to perfection .
Compete in all three phases , dressage, SJ and XC.
Prepare to travel your pony home from the show and aftercare after the show.

Silver Challenge Advancing Riding Award
Be able to:
Confidently ride different horses in the school, beach and out hacking.
Use correct aids to achieve rhythm, suppleness and contact .
Understand and perform basic lateral movements
Jump 60 cm small course of jumps
Co-teach beginner lessons
Lunge a horse.
This challenge involves keeping a log of all riding . Expected time of completion 6 to 9 months.

Gold Challenge Award
Three challenges
1. 3 days , 2 nights horseback camping Expedition ( including planning and campcraft)
2. Volunteering ( must be 13 yrs old) 30 weeks long. Aim is to provide children with work experience, a reference and skills in customer service.
3. Participate in our aid training course and complete a mini CV.

Diamond Challenge Award
Organise an equine charity fundraiser event for a horse charity including advertising , H&S , etc

Compete at local events such as Showing, SJ and XC

Employment/ volunteering at centre 30 weeks

One of the best children's Christmas events in the Outer Hebrides

Availability is as follows.
Good on Friday afternoon and evening
Very limited availability Saturday afternoon , some availability left for Saturday morning
Limited availability Thursday evening

So please, book as soon as you can to avoid disappointment. You don't have to pay anything until the day.

Annual Charity Santa Trot
Since 2019 we have raised over £4500 for children's, and vulnerable adults charities through our Santa Trot.
This year we carry on this tradition and revisit a local Children's Charity.. Action for Children.

We have availability for the Santa Trot Thursday 5th to Saturday 7th of December at Lochside Arena . This year we are supporting our local Action for Children Western Isles Group Group as our very special nominated charity with Santas wages and a contribution from the entry fee too. The saddle club sponsored walk has already raised over £1400!

Suitable for pre school ( under 2yrs ) , children with additional needs are welcome , right up to adults, it is a fun filled festive experience for all the family with pony rides, art and craft, story telling , sumo suits, remote controlled buggies, sweet stall, homemade baking, candyfloss, hot food and drinks, and festive photograph opportunity and of course a chance to see Santa and receive a lovely present from him. Our naughty elves are about too , watch out they are always up to mischief! All in a truly festive spirit and indoors at Lochside Arena. Spectators, parents and guardians are free. Booking highly recommended to avoid disappointment.

Winters arrived this week and we have been busy feeding and caring for the horses. Our guys stay out all winter, but their large body mass, internal.ventral.heating system ( aka digestive system ferments grass) and good quality rugs means that they keep warm.

It's mid November, the sand turned white today as the last ride along the beach turned for home. It's cold and windy , but these are the best days watching as confidence grows with every hoofprint .
Beach ride days are the best days as those who spend much time, effort and money on lessons begin to be paid in the most accomplished way.

I absolutely loved what I saw today from hoof perfect ponies to some brave assertive and in control riding.
