Since we’ve had some new followers, it seems like a good time to do some very overdue, proper introductions.
I’m Alannah, the owner and founder of Akila k9 Training, Est. 2022. Following sudden, tragic loss of a dog, it inspired me to explore avenues of training I’d never considered before. Over the last few years I’ve followed & shadowed trainers from different backgrounds with different methodologies and ideologies, taking from them information that I liked and some that I didn’t, to create my own idea of what dog training is.
There is no rule book, no one method that will always work, no right or wrong. I’ve come to learn that great training comes from understanding and training the dog in front of you. Great training is built on great foundations and relationship between dog and handler.
In 2021, Nala my long haired GSD came along and I was able to raise her into the stable, gentle girl she is today. You’ll often see her by my side and stooging during training sessions.
In 2023, along came Nero, now 15 months. Nero is my young sport prospect, entering into the sport of PSA. He’s already taught me so much and I’ve gained a huge amount of knowledge into the working dog world. You’ll also often find Nero helping to stooge during training sessions.
