Today is the last session in our Young Handler’s course; Kids ‘n’ Dogs. This is the second that we have run and it is proving to be a most successful addition to our list of courses offered. It returns in August….

ADULT DOG SOCIALISATION – This is for dogs over eight months with a view to building the confidence of nervous dogs and addressing lead reactivity.

Not to preach or nanny but:
Don’t walk or exercise in the heat of the day
Keep plenty of water available
Hosepipes and pools are great
Draping wet towels is good
Cool floors to lie on
Wet towels to lie on
Avoid parked cars and conservatories
Road and path surfaces get very hot

A lady messaged this morning to say that she would miss her class as her dog had been bitten by an Adder. I read that it’s been a bumper Spring for Adders as it has been so warm. Be watchful when walking! Particularly woods and heaths.

HEAT! as you will have noted it is a little warm. In line with our maximum 24 degrees policy tonight's class is postponed. Also postponed is Saturday 11.00am, although please note that 9.00am and 10.00am will still be running. Puppy Socialisation - Saturday 2.15pm is OFF. Remember hot surfaces can burn paws and any exercise above 24 degrees is not sensible for your dog (or me 😊)

This feels like a total betrayal.... Our AUTUMN training season is now available to book. I know, sorry, It feels like wishing away Summer... Follow-on courses for our Agility regulars will be available to book in the first few days of W/C 29th June. Agility beginners and Puppy Agility is available now.

Here we go again! Summer Season! Thanks for all of the bookings… Agility starts tomorrow, Sunday and Obedience next Thursday. Please remember that we don’t train if it gets above 24 degrees at the time of your lesson (for your dog’s safety) and we use the Met Office App for that prediction. If we have to postpone any lessons you will be notified by email or text. Have fun. We are all looking forward to it 😄

I can’t believe that I am posting this in April!!! We don’t run classes above 24 degrees centigrade, for your dog’s safety and we take projected temperatures from The Met Office. If a class has to be postponed we will notify you by email or if it’s short notice, by text. I think we are going to scrape by on Thursday, as it stands….. Watch this space! Do remember that hard surfaces can get very hot… Watch those paws! Keep plenty of water available for your dog to drink and avoid walks in strong sunlight.

On Saturday a chap rang and asked a very blunt question "Why would I choose Animal Magic over other trainers, particularly as I have some distance to travel." That made me think.....? Our trainers have over forty years of dog training experience, we offer by far the most comprehensive range of training, we have around 130 dogs in training at any given time, we operate from a private farm location with both indoor and outdoor training facilities and no parking fees, we are very price competitive, we have 18 years under our belts since established, we are a community and its FUN! Slam dunk! he booked his puppy for Puppy Foundation Course. Sometimes it is good to remind ourselves what a great little set up we are.

Kids n Dogs - three weeks ago our trainer Debbie started a new course for children who wanted to train and interact more with their dogs in a fun way. This week we received this:

“I was just wondering if there are likely to be anymore kids classes in the future?

My daughter ******* struggles with her confidence quite alot and it is hard to get her to do any activity outside of school.

She adores our dog ***** and spends so much of her time with him so when I heard about your classes I encouraged her to come along. After the first session she was so excited about going again and did not stop talking about it and showing everyone what she had learnt, the second session her confidence had grown so much and you can see how proud she is of herself for doing it. She has at home wanted to go out for more walks with **** and enjoys practising all the new skills she has learnt with him which is great to see also.

Our Spring Season of training starts tomorrow with strong booking numbers but as always we have a few places left. New this season is our 'Kids n Dogs' fun class (still available) and we have added an Obedience Bronze to Thursday mornings with places still available to book. If you have been putting it off please jump in and book now and we'll look forward to seeing you very soon.

Hi all, we have just finished a very successful season and we are about to start another.......Spring is here!... A few facts about the Club:

In any training season (five per year) we train about 150 dogs on average. Our training covers: Rescue, Puppy and Adult training from Foundation to Gold Standard, private training, single issue, sessions, behavioural problems including reactivity and we offer a lifetime of fun agility and children and dog sessions. Our puppy socialisation is free to members.

Our training isn't in a village hall or a random field, we have a dedicated fully secure paddock and a dedicated barn at our base on Hall Farm. Our walking training even includes the opportunity to train out in the community.

We are not a self styled 'Academy' or 'School'. We are are, put very simply, a 'Fun Dog Club' offering trainers with a combined over fifty years of dog training in a warm, fun, community based, facility and environment.
