Successful 1-1 this morning 😊 considering the darker Shepherd is quite anxious and very vocal around dogs and people, even from 100 yrds away. We passed 4 dogs and she wasn’t the one to bark something which has been a work in progress, didn’t hear a whimper from her today 😊walked nicely and even got to have a play around with Hutch in her garden off lead before having a break. Some of these 1-1s aren’t just 1 session they take longer to get to the point where everyone is happy.
The owners have stuck with it which also helps 🤣
Our Friday group finished their 1st season of scent training, they absolutely nailed it👏 a lot of work covered in 8 weeks.
It’s not the easiest scent course out there, we wanted to offer something different , we wanted to push our members but so rewarding and satisfying when the goals are achieved. Well done everyone.
For our 1st ever scent course, which has taken over a year to put together! I’m well chuffed with the outcome😊
Due to demand we have now added another Puppy Foundation. Starting on Saturday 12th November for 6weeks. Places are already filling up and this will be our last one this year.
Little video of some of our puppies from last season🐶
We have the last few places for Scent work beginners, available to book online for next season. We tried to make it different to others, in that the dog has to work a little harder as well as their handlers !😬and hopefully tire them out (the dog)🤣
It takes a little commitment but the end result is so rewarding 😊
A little bit of puppy recall, another class which is smashing it every week! Every pup went to their owner without getting distracted by the others. Top job 👏
So in this video from our Tuesday adult social , after weeks of being in the paddock we decided to go out. We have some bouncy Labs, reactive spaniel, couple of Jack Russells and reactive Romanian rescue. Got to say went very well. Some of these dogs are wary of people not just dogs. The dogs did their owners proud.
Today’s adult social, Luna, who is nervous girl would bark at other dogs and Ted who would lunge and react to other dogs( probably not the best combination)
now seem like best friends 😊 to me that’s a good result. I’ll let Ted off for weeing on Smokies bench 😂
Our new season has already started and just before the new obedience for walks kicks off ,photos of last seasons dogs enjoying their walk on the last day
Meet Teddy and Ralph, 6yrs old Schnauzer’s ( Ronnie and Reggie would probably of been a better name at the time 😬)
They joined our Adult Foundation on the 17th April 2022.
Man where do we start, they turned up with a class of 5 other dogs and you couldn’t hear yourself speak with all the racket they made. Barking, whining, lunging, so we had to adapt our lesson to help these dogs progress. I think they started to calm down by about week 3 or 4.
The 1st part of the video was after the 1st lesson, actually reacting to dogs on the other side of the field!!
At the end you will see the difference which was yesterday, ( 30th July 2022)Teddy walking not reacting to anything even letting dogs smell him on our Obedience For walks course, Ralph doing adult foundation,(some weaves) walking with 2 dogs about 10ft away to his side and the owner training both dogs in a field and the dogs actually listening and focussed on her, they actually look happy 😊
Ralph has also just completed beginners agility 😮
Why’s it happened? Ok we have helped the owners in providing the tools to work with and hopefully give them confidence but it’s mainly down to the owner to put the work in and be consistent, if they don’t do that, it isn’t going to work.
I take my hat off to Paige and Dawn for achieving this, in quite a short time and actually walking both dogs together now,, makes me really proud.👏😊
Must admit, I had a few sleepless night after the 1st lesson 🤣
I also like to add, to start with we had to put the dogs behind a barrier so they couldn’t see the other dogs and react. Some handlers get upset by this and see it as being put on the naughty step, far from it, it’s so the dog can concentrate on the owner and not be distracted. We have to do things at the dogs pace and it has no reflection on the owner.😊
Little Dulcie has certainly picked up the weaves, only her 4th lesson 👌
Teamwork, 1 brother runs Rocket, the other gets the food down in time to stop him 😊
Same every morning, question is who wins the ball?
The near 11 yr old blind wise dog Nelson or the 9 mth old pup Hutch, full of strength and ……. Well that’s about it 🤣
