Christmas is well on its way and at this time of year we all try to think of others so the Toll Barn Vets "Feed a Stray this Christmas Day" Food Collection point is available again this year. If you would like to make a donation of any food, toys, bedding (or pretty much anything else you can think of!) then please feel free to leave it at our collection point at the surgery and we will ensure all donations go to local rescue charities. This year we are also offering a collection point for Stalham Community Fridge and Food Bank so if you would like to donate any food items (or loose change if you prefer) our collection point is open during our normal surgery hours. Thank you for your support 🙂

This gorgeous duo came to visit us when they managed to access rodent poison. Luckily for them their owner was aware of the life threatening risks and rushed them to the surgery immediately. Our team were able to make them both vomit (much to their disgust!) and avoid any further problems. Rat and mouse poison stops pets from being able to produce clots which means they have life threatening bleeding so it is really important that treatment is administered straight away. Our 24/7 onsite emergency service means we are always on hand to help pets in need.

A VIP Club with a difference! Our VIP Club is designed to give our clients the best value for money as well as spreading the cost of routine pet care such as flea and worming, booster vaccinations and claw clipping. Our VIP club differs from a lot of healthy pet clubs as we believe in rewarding our loyal members with as many benefits as possible. This means that you can choose the flea and worming treatment that is right for your pet (we don't specify that only particular flea and worming treatments are available) and also means that our discounts are apply to ALL our practice products and services not just specific areas such as neutering or chronic illnesses. We believe this provides you with the best possible value for money and means our patients get the best care available. Our VIP Clubs start from just £14.99 per month for cats, from £15.99 per month for dogs and £9.99 per month for rabbits. If you would like to find our more about our VIP Clubs please give us a call on 01692 407126 or pop in to pick up a brochure.

Introducing....Golden Oldies Clinics! Did you know older pets are prone to developing problems with their joints, blood pressure, thyroid, kidneys, liver and brain (senility) in the same way people do? These signs are often very subtle and go unnoticed until very advanced. Our qualified veterinary nurses are now running FREE OF CHARGE Golden Oldies clinics where they can discuss these common problems and give you top tips to make their senior years as comfortable as possible. As part of these clinics we also offer a reduced price package of health screening tests including blood pressure measurement, urine samples and blood tests. These problems can be treated far more effectively and progression delayed if we find them early so if your dog or cat is over 6 years old or your rabbit is over 4 years old and you would like to book a free of charge golden oldies clinic or a reduced price golden oldies health screen package give us a call on 01692 407126

Did you know cats get high blood pressure just like people? A recent screening of cats showed 1 in 3 had hypertension (high blood pressure) but weren't showing any clinical signs to give owners a warning that they were "at risk" Cats can develop high blood pressure at any age, but the risk increases as they get older. When the blood pressure increases it causes secondary damage to the eyes, brain, kidneys and heart. Signs of this damage include :
Behavioural changes eg. vocalisation
Seizures
Disorientation
Dilated pupils or abnormal eye appearance
Blindness
Weakness
Heart murmurs
Nosebleeds
It is far better to detect signs of high blood pressure earlier and prevent these issues developing. Checking blood pressure is a low stress and pain free process. Our team of vets and nurses are able to check your pets blood pressure so if you would like to find out more give us a call on 01692 407126. Our nurses also offer free of charge senior pet health checks and a reduced price Senior Pet Health Screen which includes blood pressure measurement and blood tests.

Please make sure pets are kept away from any antifreeze and ensure any spillages are cleaned away. If you think your pet has ingested antifreeze please contact us on 01692 407126 immediately as the faster we help your pet the higher the chance of survival.

This year we are expanding our charity appeal to support local families with North Norfolk Foodbank.
This year, the practice is inviting the local community to come together to support two important causes — helping animals in rescue centres and families struggling across North Norfolk. We are collecting donations of pet food, treats, toys, and unused bedding to support animals in the care of local rescue centres.
In addition to helping animals, Toll Barn Vets is also supporting North Norfolk Foodbank with donations of non-perishable food items and/or monetary donations. The foodbank provides essential supplies to individuals and families facing hardship — a need that is greater than ever during the Christmas period. Contributions of tinned goods, pasta, rice, toiletries, and festive treats are all warmly welcomed.
Donations can be dropped off at Toll Barn Vets during opening hours throughout November and December. The team will ensure all items are delivered to local rescue centres and the foodbank in time for Christmas.
Thank you for helping to spread warmth, kindness, and hope this festive season — to both two-legged and four-legged friends alike.
