We said we had some exciting news.....well here it is! We all know how worrying it is when our pets develop a lump. Traditionally, in order to know whether these lumps are cancerous or not then we have had to take samples with a needle and send them to a pathologist for a diagnosis. This gives excellent results but incurs a time delay which is always a worrying time for pet owners. At Toll Barn Vets we have invested in state of the art technology which allows us to use an extremely high powered scanning microscope to digitise these samples and send them to a pathologist rather than relying on traditional postal and reporting services. Why is this important? It vastly reduces the time delay in results meaning patients receive quicker diagnosis and treatment and owners have less time to worry. Depending on the type of lump sampled these results can be back in as little as 2 - 48 hours. The additional bonus - our commitment to offering the best care for our patients means we are able to offer this fantastic technology at a reduced cost compared to sending these samples to external laboratories :D To find out more give us a call on 01692 407126

Endoscopy - non-invasive access to the hidden world!
At Toll Barn Vets our Diagnostic Imaging Suite includes 4 endoscopes. In addition to our digital xray, CT machine and ultrasound machines, these endoscopes make it possible to image inside of pets and often allow us perform biopsies or remove foreign bodies without the need for surgery.
Our rigid endoscope is great for imaging nostrils (useful when dogs get sticks and grass seeds stuck up their noses! as well as identifying polyps in cats noses or abscesses in rabbit sinuses) and perfect for imaging inside of exotics such as tortoises and birds
Our Gastroscope is perfect for imaging and sampling inside the gastrointestinal tract of pets, useful for investigating foreign bodies and stomach ulceration and some stomach tumours
Our Bronchoscope allows us to visualise inside the respiratory tract of pets and identify infection, inhaled grass seeds and take samples to diagnose diseases such as asthma or tumours
Our Laryngoscope allows us to visualise the back of the nose (dogs and cats will often get blades of grass stuck in the area between the soft palate at the back of the mouth and the back of the nose) and is also small enough to allow us to visualise inside of bladders to identify bladder tumours, stones and polyps.
We are proud of the range of equipment and skills our team have at Toll Barn Vets so if you would like to discuss how we can provide the best possible care for your pet please give us a call on 01692 407126 www.tollbarnvets.co.uk
The photos show images of the lung of a tortoise, intestinal tract of a tortoise, egg follicles of a tortoise, stomach sphincter of a dog and abscesses within the airway of a dog and the glottis of a dog (entrance to the trachea)

💜 Pet Bereavement Support Service 💜
Here at the Toll Barn Vets we know that the thought of losing and the actual loss of a beloved pet is a very difficult time, but remember you are not alone. Grieving for your pet and the mix of emotions you feel with this are completely normal and a testimony to that special bond you shared with your pet.
We are here to support you, your family and even other family pets at this incredibly sad time and to provide a ‘listening ear’ and give you time, patience and encouragement as you work through your loss.
Our Pet Memory Garden (located next to the surgery) is available for clients to spend some peaceful moments remembering loved ones. The garden is available for all our clients to use and provides a peaceful and tranquil area for clients to sit and contemplate decisions and remember loved ones. We regret that due to health and safety restrictions we are unable to bury or scatter ashes of pets within the memory garden, however, we are able to help pets with their final goodbye within these peaceful surroundings rather than within the surgery.

We are delighted to have already helped a large number of pets with our Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy and Stem Cell Therapy! These regenerative medicine techniques enable harvesting of cells from the patients own blood or bone marrow which can then be placed into areas to reduce inflammation, provide pain relief and improve healing. These techniques help our patients to recover faster, reduce reliance on medication and live more comfortable lives. There are some patients who suffer from osteoarthritis or damage to areas with poor blood supply such as tendons, ligaments and cartilage where healing is very slow and pain relief inadequate (or undesirable due to side effects). Common uses include cruciate ligament rupture, osteoarthritis, elbow dysplasia, large wounds and tendon ruptures. Once implanted these cells support the body in a natural way of regenerating these damaged areas and promote long term pain relief and mobility. It is especially useful in areas of chronic pain (such as osteoarthritis) and areas prone to scar tissue formation such as tendons. This is one of the many ways we can support our patients alongside (or instead of) medication to provide a greater level of mobility and pain relief. If you would like to know more about the exciting regenerative medicine options available for our patients give us a call on 01692 407126

We are very proud to be a family run independent practice. What does it mean to be an independent practice? Toll Barn Vets is proud to be one of the few remaining independent practices in Norfolk. This means that we are not owned or part of a big corporate chain of practices and remain a small family run practice. We believe this offers our clients and patients important benefits. We are not limited in the drugs and equipment we can purchase - we are able to continually invest in the most modern and effective equipment to diagnose and treat our patients. We can continue to invest in new state of the art facilities such as our laser therapy unit, stem cell therapy, onsite CT scanner and onsite luxury pet hotel. We can also remain a small friendly team who offer the highest standards of pet care without having pressure to meet targets which we believe provides our patients with the best care possible. If you would like to know more about how we can help care for your pet please give us a call on 01692 407126

Our onsite luxury pet hotel cares for pets whilst owners are on holiday. We are delighted to have been awarded a 5* rating following our recent inspection 😃 We understand how stressful going on holiday can be when you own a pet, especially if
your pet is elderly or on long term medication. Our Luxury Pet Hotel caters for cats and small mammals (including rabbits) whilst owners are on holiday. We hope this provides peace of mind that pets are receiving the best possible care from qualified vets and nurses during holiday periods.
The Pet Hotel offers a purpose built and fully licenced boarding cattery with 6 purpose built enclosures within a self contained fully heated and air conditioned cattery which is also equipped with its own ventilation system to ensure no unpleasant lingering aromas. The UPVc designed enclosures and medical grade flooring ensure hygiene and warmth for our guests, and the design ensures privacy so that neighbouring guests can’t see each other to avoid any stressful encounters.
Cat owners know that their Cats like to exercise but also enjoy taking some time out for relaxation. To cater for this our enclosures have a large raised sleeping area in addition to an exercise area which contains toys and activities to keep our guests entertained.
All our guests are cared for by the Toll Barn Vets staff which means they have a fully qualified vet and nurse available to them 24/7 should they need it. This also enables us to provide any daily medication your pet requires and to monitor any health problems they may have, allowing you to have your own a stress free holiday knowing that your pet is receiving the best possible care.
