Engaging activities on your walks help strengthen you and your dogs relationship, helping build that bomb proof recall. Your dog should see you as the most important thing on that field. Leave no room for error, every time your dog runs off chasing a bird, dog, or person, this is only reinforcing that behaviour, and they will keep on doing it because of how fun it is for them! If in doubt, keep them on a 10m longline so there is plenty of room for exercise, but no room for mistakes.
