As many know, Trudie is on leave for 3 WHOLE weeks from Friday 20th June. 💒

Thankfully, Gina is overseeing all appointments in the meantime so all clients can expect business as usual!

It does however mean that we may be a little slower on admin and enquiries so please bear with us! 💻

5 Weeks Difference! 👏🏻

This is Luna…

When Luna first came to us she had significant atrophy (muscle wastage) of her back legs, developed a compensatory low head carriage, and had minimal exercise tolerance.

It slowly became clear to our physios that perhaps there was more to Luna’s case than first thought. A few days later, Luna underwent bilateral cruciate ligament surgery with the team at Pennine Veterinary Referrals

These photos were taken 5 WEEKS APART. Look at that muscular development! 😮 ❤️

🧐 How??
Careful management, physio-hydro, and prescribed home exercises that her owners have been completing between sessions.

📢 PSA: Owners, if you nail the physical rehabilitation post surgery, you will see quicker, more significant improvements whilst reducing the risk of complications, partial recovery or future re-injury! That’s what studies and years of scientific research tells us.

With Bank Holidays, professional development conferences and training, and personal leave… there will be some changes in work hours over the new few weeks.

This mainly affects Monday appointments but in replacement there will be some Friday mornings available. 🐾

8️⃣ Frequently Overlooked Signs That Your Dog Needs Help!

1) No longer jumping on/off the sofa or in/out of the car

2) Reluctant to climb the stairs

3) Increasingly anti-social with people, children or other dogs

4) Lagging behind on walks

5) Skipping or hopping when they run

6) Wonky sitting or lying, a preference to one side

7) Over excitement or guarding when touching an area

8 ) Localised licking/ nibbling (look for pink fur stains!)

It can be difficult to know when your pet is in discomfort, and the early subtle signs can be easily missed. If you notice a change in usual behaviour, it’s always best to get it checked out. 🧑‍⚕️

Meet the Client…

Name: Peggy
Likes: FOOD 🥓

Peggy came to us following hindlimb lameness suspected to be a muscle tear, in the same leg she had undergone cruciate ligament surgery less than 1 year prior.

When Peggy came to us, we soon realised she wasn’t moving her operated leg efficiently. This has lead to muscle and connective tissue weakness over time, which could’ve contributed to her soft tissue injury.

Since then, we’ve worked on improving Peggy’s joint range of motion (particularly in her stifles/knees), general hindlimb muscle mass and treated compensatory muscle tension. Her owners have also been fantastic in doing some at-home exercises with her and Peggy has made fantastic progress!

We now see Peggy infrequently and will hopefully be discharging her shortly! 🐾 😀

Not sure how to find us?!

We’re based at the north side of Northallerton on the Milehouse Industrial Park, just before the roundabout leading to Strikes Garden Centre (if approaching from town).

We’re on the left as you come into the industrial park and we’ve parking right outside our front door, perfect for patients. 🐾

If it’s raining, we’ve a small seating area just inside too.

At your appointment time, a therapist will come to welcome you in. 😀

This means that we have appointments after 5pm on both Mondays with Gina, and Wednesdays with Trudie.
