Aquatic Finatic opened in 1995 and moved to its current premises 2 miles South of Northallerton in 2002

Although originally more an Aquatic outlet with over 100 tanks and ponds of tropical, coldwater and pond fish, the shop now has a thriving reptile and small pet department. Over the years the shop has built up a good reputation for giving helpful service and advice recommending products we have

used and are happy with ourselves. With the welfare of pets as the main priority we offer free water testing and spend time with customers to make sure that all new pet owners leave with the knowledge they need to care for their new pet. Weekly deliveries of both dry goods and livestock ensure there is always something new to see and anything we don’t have we are happy to order if available. Other services available are aquarium installations and maintenance, pond maintenance, small pet and reptile boarding, pet parties and educational visits.

🌳We learned about habitats, camouflage, venomous and non venomous snakes as well as having a good handle of a variety of legless friends!

✨Our special guest Nagini the Boa constrictor was a big hit, a professional snake that has been in the film industry before! 🧙‍♂️

🧐Hard to tell if they loved or hated our Bug explorers session at Animal Club this week!😅

🕷 We looked at behaviour and adaptations as well as doing a few games, our creepy crawlies included Goldie the Tarantula, Colin the cockroach, Edward the Scorpion, Millie the giant Millipede and Billy the Velvet Stick Insect!

📸 They were so brave handling Goldie and all wanted their pictures taken to prove it!

🪳Thanks to their quick thinking, we got him in, warmed up, hydrated and fed and he has been thriving ever since!

🎉What fun we have had over the last 2 weeks of Animal Club!

🐰Marvellous mammals- we cuddled with all sorts of cute and furry animals learning how to handle them correctly and facts about some species you may find in the wild

🐢Mixed bag- We had a go at feeding and washing our tortoise, learning about their skeletons and habitats.
We also learnt how to hold Ghost the Barn Owl as well as a giant Bullfrog who wasn't so giant yet!

🐍Only 2 weeks left in which we will be looking at Inverts and Snakes!

🐊 Children got a hands on, in depth look at a variety of lizards and geckos

🦖 Each week we will be diving into a different group of animals, discussing their habitats, biology, fun facts and of course having a hold!

❗️Sailfin Pim Catfish (Leiarius pictus) ❗️ One of our amazing customers is selling this beautiful Sailfin Pim Catfish (£200)🤩 It hand feeds and eats everything such as; mussels, prawns, whitebait and massivore pellets. It’s around 7-8inches without barbels.🍤 If you have any more questions or interested give us a message or a call📞

💛Fancy Goldfish🧡 At the moment we have some beautiful 😍Fancy Goldfish in store such as: - Fantail Goldfish - Telescope Goldfish - Pearlscale Goldfish ‼️These Goldfish can live for over 20 years with the correct care‼️ We always recommend a 80 liter tank minimum for a small Goldfish to begin with and 160 liter tank for a larger Goldfish🤩

💛Mental Health Awareness Day💛 🩷The theme this year for Mental Health Awareness Day is ‘Mental Health in the Workplace’ at Aquatic Finatic we are not just here for each other but also our customers and are always open for a chat🩷 Along with this, we also thought we would share a few benefits of owning an aquarium 😌Stress relief - For instance, it has been shown that being around fish can reduce stress levels which can be a great wellness tool by providing a distraction from everyday life stressors. 😊Alleviates anxiety and has calming affects - Similar to reducing stress, observing an aquarium/fish tank helps reduces anxiety by a great amount as well as help to calm your nerves 😇Improves your mood and mental stability- studies have shown that viewing fish has increased levels of happiness. They even said that the longer the person watched a fish, the more their positive mood increased. Viewing fish helped put observers into a calm and content state. ‼️To speak to someone immediately regarding mental health please call NHS 111 or Samaritans on 116 123. In an emergency please dial 999 ‼️

✨ Did you know that a lot of species of Plecostumus appreciate wood in the aquarium? 🪵 Wood is beneficial in many ways including- 🌟 Beneficial fibers that the fish can rasp off to aid digestion 🌟 Biofilm and algae grow on wood, an extra food source for Plecs 🌟 Immitates their natural habitat 🌟 Blancing the water with tannins for more natural parameters 🌟 A handy hiding place- Plecos are naturally shy and their stress levels reduce when they have readily available hiding spots!
